Episode 1: The Salvaged Job

Maenor has learned a lot about ogres, especially since they are known to hunt and consume the feyfolk for dinner.
Nov 2, 2016 11:37 pm
Maenor softly calls out to his comrades, "It's an ogre...nasty brutes...no parlaying with these."
OOC:
Do I know anything about their weaknesses, fears, etc.?
Nov 2, 2016 11:41 pm
Maenor recalls that his ancestors' experiences label them as dim-witted, ravenous creatures attracted to shiny things, though what might be valuable to one person often holds differently for ogres. They are immensely strong and able to squash a humanoid to a pulp with one blow.
Nov 2, 2016 11:46 pm
Ogres fear little, and while they are extremely strong, they aren't the smartest of humanoids. However, Maenor also understands that an ogre's first reaction to confusion or anything it doesn't quite understand is to smash things to bits.

The ogre remains standing there, and makes another snuffling sound with its nose. Its head tilts to one side.
Nov 2, 2016 11:56 pm
As quietly as he can, Maenor calls upon his goddess to bless the party.
OOC:
Bless cast upon Maenor, Daniel, and Geno. For the next minute, we can each roll a d4 and add the number to an attack roll or saving through whenever we make one.

Kalis peers into the darkness, attempting to see the ogre he heard about.

The ogre has not yet stepped into the dim light from the campfire, and Kalis lacks darkvision to see into the night. However, as he strains his senses, knowing the general whereabouts of the creature, Kalis can definitely hear and smell the ogre. Deep and heavy breaths, along with the unmistakable aroma of fresh blood and viscera mixed with unwashed oily sweat and grime.

OOC:
If possible, I'll ready vicious mockery, with the trigger being: it coming into view and appears threatening.
Nov 3, 2016 4:50 pm
Maenor and Geno see the ogre return to an upright slouch, and it resumes its long strides towards the fire. Now 40 feet away, it steps into a dim area of light from the fire and is visible to everyone, where it stops once again and regards everyone with a dull squint. The ogre sniffs the air a bit, then shifts the large sack off its shoulder and empties the contents to the ground.

A large form lands with a wet thud. It is covered in slick, matted feathers and two thick legs are splayed in unnatural directions. A huge wedge-shaped beak pokes out from someplace where it shouldn't.

The ogre remains standing there.
Nov 3, 2016 8:51 pm
Maenor cautiously approaches, trying to see if the form is breathing. He keeps his eyes mostly on the ogre, only glancing to the form from time to time.
Nov 3, 2016 8:55 pm
The form is very dead, and now that Maenor is a bit closer, very bloody and broken in places. It appears to be an axe beak, a tall flightless bird with powerful legs and a nasty disposition.

The ogre just stands there. It blinks once.
Nov 3, 2016 9:01 pm
Daniel loudly whispers when Maenor starts towards the ogre. "Don't just walk up to the thing!"
Nov 3, 2016 9:44 pm
Coda catches up to Maenor, so he isn't singled out, and taps his leg to let him know. Coda calls out to the ogre "Oi friend-o, you okay, you need help with something?"
Nov 3, 2016 10:51 pm
The ogre blinks again, and makes an inquisitive grunt. Then it speaks, a deep bass that echoes like an empty chasm. "Huh? Wukor hunt. One hand for Wukor, one hand for Guarg." The last part is said in a rote sentence, like it has been intoned countless times before.
Nov 3, 2016 11:39 pm
"Any idea what one hand means?" Coda asks quietly to Maenor before calling back out to the ogre. "It looks like you already caught your prey and it is quite the catch, I might add." Coda laughs "I don't think our tiny fire will cook that large bird, though."
Nov 3, 2016 11:43 pm
Maenor quietly replies, "I'm hoping one thing each, rather than 5."
Nov 4, 2016 12:44 am
The ogre's slack expression seems to shift to confusion. It turns its head and looks down in the direction of Coda, then to Maenor.

Insight - (1d20-2)

"Sorry, Wukor, are you not here for our fire? I kinda guessed you smelled the smoke and came running to cook your bird. Is that not why you're here?" Coda returns a confused expression. "Oh, where are my manners, I know your name but you do not know mine. You may call me Coda and this here, next to me, is Maenor. It's a pleasure to meet you." Coda bows, but doesn't take his eyes off the ogre.
Nov 4, 2016 11:15 am
Geno follows slowly, slipping his short sword back into its sheath. When he reaches the pair he whispers to Maenor. "How fares the diplomatic approach? He seems a straightforward fellow if nothing else..." Geno intones, voice thick with tension, as he eyes the ogre in an attempt to glean its intentions.

The ogre appears confused. Geno gets the impression that the scene before the ogre is either very strange to it, or is not quite meeting its expectations.

Geno can also see in the ogre's face that the more it is being required to think, the less it is beginning to like doing it.
