The avatar is Daredevil after all...

The path starts into a bend, with three tall outcroppings looming overhead and funneling you into an area with enough room to stand two people shoulder-to-shoulder. All of you catch the sudden glint of metal as it shifts amidst the rocks in front of you; it was enough to discern a silhouette that had just moved. Kalis catches the whiff of a dank, musky scent to the group's left, something animalistic yet not. Daniel senses that, too, but also detects a similar presence on the group's right.

As a result of your keen observations, your party is prepared for the sudden roar and appearance of two bugbears that leap out from the outcrops. Armed with large wooden clubs, they both descend to the path, one landing behind while the other approaches from the front, and each is 30 feet away.

A hobgoblin dressed in chainmail steps out from behind the rocks ahead, grinning as he draws a longbow. He laughs and says something harsh and guttural in a language none of you understand, nocking an arrow where he stands 50 feet ahead upon the outcrop. The bugbears make to charge.
OOC:
Combat! You are not surprised and can act first this round, in any order.
Nov 18, 2016 11:49 pm
Kalis panics upon seeing the huge goblinoids, launching the same spell he had so much luck with against the raven. He sends a bolt of flame at the hobgoblin with the bow, then moves so that he's behind the more burly warriors.
OOC:
Firebolt it is!

EDIT: Boom! I like this spell :)

"Right then, this is where you all come in." Daniel ties his blindfold around his arm and puts a second hand on his cane.
OOC:
Everyone but me has Bless on them, add a d4 to any attack roll or saving throw for the next minute.
Nov 19, 2016 12:12 am
The hobgoblin's bemused expression quickly turns into surprise as the flame strikes him in the chest. The burst of arcane fire almost sends him hurtling backwards, were it not for the rocks the cushioned his body's impact. The arrow falls to the ground as the hobgoblin furiously pats out the embers singing his chainmail.

"Hey, stinky, we smelled you from a mile away!" Coda yells before taking Maribel and getting her as far away from the attackers as he can to where he thinks she would be safest. Passing by Geno, Coda whispers "I believe in you." before continuing running off to the center.
OOC:
Geno has bardic inspiration, giving him a d6 for ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws.

Unless I'm missing something, Bless is only three people. Since I don't have many attack rolls, I'll be the other one who doesn't have Bless.

Hobgoblin - Wis save DC 14 - (1d4)

(3) = 3

Nov 19, 2016 1:03 am
The hobgoblin pauses as it hears the halfling's cry. There is a look of sudden realization, that despite his martial prowess and tactical superiority to these hapless adventurers, it was the lack of proper bathing that doomed this ambush. The shame and horror prove too much for the hobgoblin to take, as his eyes roll back into his head and blood runs from his ears and nose. He falls forward and lands with a thud onto the path, unmoving.
OOC:
Coda, there are bugbears blocking off the path in front and behind the group, and outcrops to the left and right. I'll therefore assume you're moving yourself and Maribel into the middle of the party with Kalis?

Maenor fires a bolt of light from his hand toward the bugbear on the path in front of them, then sets his shield and mace and prepares to meet the beast's onslaught.
OOC:
Next hit against this target rolls with advantage, assuming a 24 hits its AC

Geno conjures the same hellfire between his fingers as before and stares at the party's attackers. With a look of grim determination, he flings the furious energy towards one of the bugbears.

OOC:
I've assumed that Geno targeted the bugbear in back of the party. This also means that the next person to strike the bugbear in front has advantage on the attack, thanks to Maenor's Guiding Bolt.
The bugbear in front of the party is briefly illuminated by a divine light as Maenor's radiant power strikes it full in the chest. It roars in immense pain and bloodlust, striding forward to the cleric to swing its club in anger. The club connects (18 vs AC 17), nearly crumpling Maenor's shield and the elf's arm (8 damage).

Geno's blast of arcane energy hits the bugbear behind the group in its abdomen, but it is not enough to slow it down. It rushes for the warlock and brings its club down in an overhead smash. Geno manages to avoid the brunt of the attack, but it clips his shoulder (22 vs AC 15) and almost topples the tiefling to the ground (9 damage).

Player Turn!

Kalis feels a strange sense of calm wash over him as battle ensues in full. He feels a pounding in the back of his head, feels the majesty of dragonkind flowing through his veins and holds out a hand. Three magical darts of force fly forth to strike their opponents. Two of them strike the bugbear attack Maenor, and the other strikes the bugbear attacking Geno.
OOC:
Magic Missile!

EDIT: Oh here we go...

Coda grips the handle of his lute and with his other hand starts to make obscene hand gestures and choice words under his breath to three of the bugbears. He then gives a few strums on his lute in Daniels direction.
OOC:
Casting Bane on the two bugbears that havent went yet and the one on Geno. Charisma check, -d4 to attack and saves if failed. Bardic Inspiration to Daniel, d6 to one attack roll, ability, or saving throw.
Nov 21, 2016 8:00 pm
Daniel sighs and advances on the bugbear attacking Maenor, drawing his blade out of the cane and stabbing the beast in the chest. "You just had to ambush us, didn't you?"
OOC:
Total damage is 11.

OOC:
There are only two bugbears, one in front and one behind. I'm sorry for the confusion!
The bugbear lifts its club once again to strike, but its arm is thrown aside by the impact of Kalis' magic. Before it can cry out in retaliation, Daniel's thin blade sinks effortlessly into the bugbears heart. All at once aware of its own mortality, the bugbear staggers backward and makes to flee, before its legs give out and it falls to the ground, darkness overtaking it.

The remaining bugbear blinks dully as Coda's words and gestures assail its senses, not even understanding half of what the halfling means. It roars, shaking its head and taking one step back.
OOC:
Only one bugbear left, harassing Geno. It failed its CHA save.
Nov 22, 2016 10:48 pm
OOC:
Geno and Maenor still have actions to take, before it's the bugbear's turn.
Nov 23, 2016 12:18 am
Maenor falls to his knees with a groan, cradling his shattered arm. He mumbles a prayer and his ashen face is suffused with colour as he stands and turns to face the final foe, his body whole once more.
