Geno moves over to the closed door and slowly attempts to open it, peering into the subsequent room should it open.

The door is unlocked. Geno cracks it open, peeking through. The tiefling can see a room empty of furniture, with two closed doors further in.

Geno also sees, standing in the middle of this room, a group of humanoid figures. He notices that these creatures appear gaunt and rotten, like their flesh has been arrested from natural decomposition, and he recognizes them as zombies. Unnaturally, the zombies turn their heads at the movement of the door, and begin to shuffle towards Geno with arms outstretched.

OOC:
The door is not completely open at this point, and Geno did not step into the room. I won't determine initiative for now since we haven't really gotten into combat, but that may change depending on what the party does next.

What do you do?
Mar 22, 2017 9:52 pm
Maenor heads to the corner to inspect the wall more closely.

Maenor can see a bas-relief carving of a large eye in the wall, hidden by the weapon rack. It is possible that it would have been completely hidden back when the wood was new.

The eye faces the door that Geno is peeking through.
Mar 24, 2017 1:33 pm
"Geno, what do you see?" Kalis whispers from behind.
Mar 24, 2017 3:35 pm
Geno gingerly shuts the door and turns to Kalis.

"I believe there are some zombies in that room. There are also two doors, so we might have to go this way at some point regardless."
Mar 24, 2017 4:44 pm
As if in response, the door by Geno thumps as something hits it from the other side. There is a scratching sound, followed by another muffled thump.

The door does not budge, despite the sounds of impact.
OOC:
Reminder that the corridor leading to the room you are now in also extended southward. I tried to make the Map a little better to indicate visual limits rather than hard stops.

Not saying you have to go that way, but mentioning it since your characters would be aware of it.
Mar 24, 2017 10:03 pm
"You say there are multiple doors into that room, in that case, we can explore the rest of this place and clear it out then hit them from multiple points." Coda begins backtracking the way they came, after everyone finishes talking.
Mar 27, 2017 5:50 pm
Coda and Maenor travel down the corridor, past the door, and find that at the far end of the corridor is a bas-relief eye, similar to the others.

They also see that the corridor splits into two passageways. The southern hallway leads to a closed and locked door. Maenor notes that there is no eye-carving opposite this one.

The eastern hallway leads to an archway. In the room beyond, the walls show bas-relief carvings of figures armored in chainmail and open-faced helmets, each kneeling in supplication. They start from the archway and kneel facing the far end of the room, and where the line of armored figures meet is a standing figure in robes, head wreathed in a halo of light. This figure stands next to a fountain, pouring water from a jug into it with one hand, while the other is lifted to the sky. Rays of light stream down upon the fountain from an open eye floating in the sky, and you see that the rays also traverse the ceiling and touch upon the heads of each kneeling figure.

The floor has a spiraling pattern leading from the walls and focusing at the center, where there is a plain-looking and dry fountain.

Kalis follows along with the others. Then, seeing the images, Kalis heads over to investigate.

The robed figure appears to be some type of holy individual. Kalis reasons that the eye is symbolic of whatever deity or higher power that is being worshiped by the figures, and the act of pouring water into the fountain has achieved some kind of blessing for everyone.

The actual fountain in the center of the room does not have any carvings, but there is a stone basin at the top of a column in the middle of a larger bowl. There are small holes in the basin that Kalis reasons would allow water to flow down the column into the bowl.
Mar 27, 2017 6:19 pm
Curious, Kalis will open his waterskin and pour about half of it into the basin to see what happens.
Mar 27, 2017 6:35 pm
The water fills the basin, and as expected a slow trickle begins to flow down the column. The rivulets twist and meander in a curious pattern until they reach the bowl, where it begins to collect. The top basin finally drains, and the water sits in the bowl.

Nothing else seems to happen.

Intrigued by the pattern of the cascading water, Kalis inspects the column. While he cannot make sense of what is happening, he does notice that the column was crafted in a subtle, yet irregular, way. It makes Kalis believe that whatever the reason, the flow of water down the column in this way was intentional.

Coda would of checked that closed door they passed to see if it was unlocked or not, he wouldn't open it but just check to see whether it is locked or not then do the same to the door down the hall.
Mar 28, 2017 12:15 am
These doors have a handle, under which is a keyhole. The handles do not move, leading Coda to believe that determining whether or not they are locked involves attempting to open the doors.
Mar 28, 2017 1:22 pm
Daniel catches up with the group and examines the keyhole.

Daniel can see that the keyhole appears to have stood up to time fairly well, but that may also be due to a lack of use. Neither door looks to have been subject to lockpicking, based on the lack of fine scratches or cuts.
