Maenor calls out in Elvish, "Watch your step just ahead."

Daniel does not seem to understand, but takes his cues by following the lead of Kalis and Coda.

The creature seems to twitch at the elvish tongue, but otherwise makes no outward reaction aside from its slow gait towards the hallway.

Coda stops his movement, turns, and waits for Maenor.

Maenor continues cheerfully, his tone belying the seriousness of his words, "The sword is the source of the evil. We cannot let this creature see the light of day. Lie about what I'm saying."

Coda looks up at Maenor with a smile and laughs then replies back in elvish "I wasn't planning on it. I trust him about as far as I can throw him. He cannot leave this place until we remove the eye at the door, so I'm not seeing his plan when we can just leave here and he can't."

Kalis, who understands the elvish tongue, doesn't respond. He fears that speaking too much in elvish will reveal that they are discussing ways to ditch the evil being. His eyes do move briefly to the sword next time he gets a chance to look at it.

The sword looks rather plain and serviceable, though apparently well-kept despite the years. Even from a distance, its keen blade shines in the torchlight.

Coda and Kalis both sense the foreboding of death, but cannot determine its source. Maenor also senses this, but distinctly feels raw hatred in addition to the woe and ruin.

As Coda stops, the creature asks, "Something the matter?"
Sep 12, 2017 4:14 pm
"Oh, not really. My friend here doesn't speak a lick of common." Coda chuckles "He was just reminding me of a particularly embarrassing night I got into that happened after a bit of heavy drinking; hasn't let me live it down since, it's become a bit of a joke between us."

"I should like to hear that," prompts the creature. "It has been so long since I have heard a story."
Sep 12, 2017 5:11 pm
"I'm afraid I don't kiss and tell, it was quite personal and rather embarrassing, as I said. Perhaps if you tell me a tale of one of your blunders, I will share you one of mine."

"Certainly. We can chat as we walk," says the creature, seemingly pleased with the chance to speak. It moves into the hallway, approaching closer to Coda and the others (unless they resume walking, in which case it merely proceeds at its slow pace).

"I recall a time long ago at the winter ball, I had invited a dear friend and sweetheart to be my guest. It was a lovely time, and the wine and song lasted long into the night. Unbeknownst to me, my eldest brother decided to slip powdered mushrooms into my drink at some point. I think he meant to afflict my humor with illusion, or perhaps render me incoherent, but regardless he did not fully understand the nature of plants. Instead of veiling my vision with dreams, the wine formed a rather... unstable weather, shall we say, in my lower stomach. As much as I tried, I could not excuse myself fast enough from my beloved and released a thunderous blast in the middle of the dance.

"Oh, it was quite embarrassing. Everyone laughed at my misfortune, and even my friend could not contain her mirth."

Coda resumes walking, at a slower pace to remain courteous to the creature as he tells his story. When the creature finish it's tale, he gives his knee a slap accompanied by a chuckle "Oh, I do love a good fart story." He rights himself and continues his walk "Well, I suppose a deal is a deal. I do not quite remember the night before, because I was proper sloshed, so you'll have to forgive me on that half. To bypass uninteresting formalities, the story goes I was drinking, obviously, chatting up any ears who would listen. Now to the real meat and potatoes; I awake to a knocking on my door, I walk over to open it in a hungover, half-asleep stupor and toss the door open. Lo and behold, my friend here accompanied by two others standing there, with a look that I can only describe as if they've seen a ghost adorning their faces. The cause for their grimace? I'm about as naked as the day I was born, it was also the day he was to introduce me to his mother and wife; quite the first impression, if you ask me."

Coda stops again as he begins laughing again before continuing on "But the real cherry on top, was when a sheep scrambled out from under the sheets, ran right pass all of us; I'll tell you my face was about as red as that cherry. He didn't speak to me for a week until we found out it was all a goof from some farmer who got mad I was chatting up their girl apparently. His wife still never spoke to me, always seemed to be 'busy' when I came over."

OOC:
Which friend were you referring to as married?
The creature seems to chuckle, though it sounds more like a leaking bellows from both within the chest and near the throat. "Marvelous," it says afterward.

The party has reach the T-intersection, with the north hallway leading to the room with the chairs and western passage heading towards the stairs to the upper level.

OOC:
Not sure at this point. Kalis is waiting for Coda to do something, since he's in the lead

OOC:
Coda is going to the exit, unless one of the others suggests otherwise.
