Episode 1: The Salvaged Job

Unaware of the planned attack, Daniel nevertheless recognizes what his companions have agreed to. He draws his rapier and spins, finishing the move with a thrust to the creature's chest.

The undead being does not seem surprised by this turn of events, but it is difficult to tell from the expression of the stretched and dry skin across the skull. Kalis' darts slam into the creature's chest, and at the same time Coda's words pierce through the air, shaking it beneath its cloak.

As Daniel's blade bites into its shoulder, the creature retaliates with an open palm slap across the rogue's cheek (disadvantaged 23 vs AC 16, 5 necrotic damage). Daniel seems to wither under the blow, and his rapier wavers in his hand.

The creature turns, bringing its longsword around for a strike across Maenor's body, but the cleric manages to interpose his shield to deflect the slice.Map

The darts thud into the creature again, staggering it slightly.

Daniel presses his attack now that the creature has exposed its back. He lunges with his rapier, sinking it deep within the body.

As the creature reels from the shrill notes hammering through its head, Daniel takes the opportunity to disengage and retreat back.

The creature screams, turning briefly to look at Coda. "Your retainers pack quite a punch for bookworms," it sneers. "I shall remember you, Prince of the Shifting Sands!"

Moving with a speed it had not exhibited previously, the creature pushes Maenor's shield to the side and runs past the cleric, slipping into the room with the library and running past the sarcophagus.Map

Daniel hesitates, but as his companions charge after the undead, he sighs. "I'm gonna regret this," he mutters, and dashes through the library. He slides across the sarcophagus and dives over Coda to belly-flop onto some books until he passes everyone, kicking up to a stance in the doorway to cut off the creature's escape.

With a flourish, he thrusts his rapier for the wight's eyes.

The Fire Bolt explodes against the wall near the wight's head, but seemingly does no harm. Maenor and Daniel pursue and get back into melee, but the uneven footing of the fallen books hinders their aim and their attacks find only air.

"Fools," says the wight. "You think you can just cut me down?" With a snarl, it lashes out at Daniel with its sword, but the rogue manages to duck under the swing. Unfortunately, the maneuver presents Daniel's head within easy reach for the wight's hand, and it grabs hold of his hair to begin pulling him out of the doorway (16 vs AC 16, 4 necrotic damage).Map
