Garrett will move over and unlock the door to the stairs. "That is our little secret and probably our way out." Then he will ask Ginsing"Is there more than one way out of here?"
Feb 1, 2025 5:29 pm
"You probably don't want to know." Ane says to Ginseng, if they don't need to use the noisome way as their exit, she would rather never talk about it again.

"I had hoped to make our getaway before we released the mob." She opines. "But now they may cause enough of a distraction that we can slip out with them?"
OOC:
Did Ane's study of the outside give her any hints about the 'back door'? [ref]
If that leads to the outside and looked unguarded (bad prison design, no:), we can use that?
Feb 1, 2025 10:28 pm
As Garrett touches the padlock to open what must be the "door to the stairs", there is an abrupt firm knock at the other side. "Two to go in!" says an authoritative man. "Bardo, open up."
Feb 1, 2025 11:33 pm
"Crap! Should we open it and let everyone rush out at them?"
Feb 2, 2025 2:05 am
"Baaardo ... come on, man!"
Feb 2, 2025 7:03 am
There is little Ane can do with all the people milling around, and with her not being able to see who is on the other side —she does not think it is vital to be able to see, but does not know the spell well enough.

She gives Garrett a shrug, looking around at the prisoners to try gauge their intent. If they look like they will make a bid for freedom then she will suggest opening the door quickly and letting them deal with the guards on the other side, if they look like they have been too cowed —by beatings or incarceration— then she might suggest they try something else, she does not know, yet, what.

"Stop shouting our names!" Ane mutters under her breath. She will have to think twice before working with unstructured parties like this. She has heard stories about how 'the Ghost never, ever got caught', but Garrett's relaxed attitude to operational secrecy makes her wonder if there are other reasons they are all gone.
"Yeah, they might figure out that we're Thayans in disguise!" Asha pretends to whisper, but says it loud enough for others to hear. She hopes the comment might seed misinformation if any of the escapees decides to sell them out later. A few moments later, she gives Ane a sly look for the idea to blame the Red Robes earlier. Perhaps I will need to use my smoke again...
tibbius says:
Even Ginsing moves haltingly. As he emerges into the dim hallway the various bruises on his face and limbs make apparent he's been beaten, more than once, in the past few days.
Asha is shocked at the state of Ginseng and rushes to join him to let him put an arm around her shoulder to help him walk.

Asha's eyes widen hearing the voice of another guard. She looks around at the chaos of all the released prisoners and then nods to Garrett. This crowd should be able to overwhelm one guard, she hopes.

"Okay chaps here is your big break. When I open the door rush it," Garrett will pull the lock and open the door standing off to the side. "Go for it! For freedom!"

The milling prisoners scramble and shove through the doors. The two captives on the other side join the rush, essentially trampling the bewildered guard. Prisoners go quickly up the stairs (this seems to be the bottom of the dungeon) to the next landing, whence you hear shouts: "The door is locked!" "Quick get the keys!"
Feb 2, 2025 2:47 pm
Ane was still thinking about using the back door (and trying not to think about using the backside door) to get out, but hearing the prisoners trapped she feels bad to leave them. Listening she hopes one of them has the sense to snag the keys from the guards they trampled.
OOC:
By 'back door' I mean what was described as 'a padlocked double door in the outside wall.' [ref]
By 'backside door' ... well you know how we got in. :)

Sorta seems these doors lock from the wrong side for a prison. Should we ignore that incongruity or is that something Ane should think about?

"Quick we have our distraction let us go back out the way we came in." Garrett will pocket the keys. You never know when they will come in handy.

This was an infelicity in description. Outside wall of the corridor, leading to the stairwell.

Asha isn't happy about it, but realizes it's the best option for them to escape. She helps Ginseng to the lavatory and says, "You're not going to like this ..."

She lowers her torch into one of the holes in the seated bench and points to the pipe below.

"Hold this," she asks Ginseng to take the torch and then re-wraps her head scarf around her nose and leads the way back down into the filth.

Once she's made it to the pipe she yells up, "Now drop the torch to me, I'll light the way for you from down here."

She climbs down the pipe a few lengths to make room and then waits for the others to follow, the small torch held high to light their way so they can avoid the worst of the mess.

Who goes last?

Garrett will let the others go then follow last to cover the group dagger in hand. "You go I will cover y'all."
OOC:
Unless Anemone want to go last since she has a sleep spell ready.

Whatever order you go, the other prisoners pay you no attention as they try to break down the door leading up out of the stairwell.

Garrett reconsiders climbing while gripping a dagger, which seems needless as no one is paying attention to your exit.

You make your gross and smelly way out of the prison, back into the sewers.

Who remembers which way out?
Feb 3, 2025 12:06 am
Well if there was no threat Garrett would have put his daggers away. Garrett will also remember the way out that is his job.
Feb 3, 2025 12:52 am
You get back up out of the sewer into the alley, which is deserted.

It's a bit after sunset so you're not particularly conspicuous aside from your odor. Which you're kind of noseblind to, but you can guess that others wouldn't be.

Where were you supposed to bring Ginsing?

Thanks for clarifying.
Ane hesitates many moments, only after hearing the sound of the door breaking and the other prisoners fighting their way out does she step into open air and glide down the pipe.

"To the boat?" She suggest. "To the water." That is a good way out of the sabdan, but mainly she is eager to get clean while there is still enough warmth left over from the day to dry them.

After getting out of the wastes Garrett will look to the others "Back to the boat so we can get Ginsing back to Big Zahad and some medical attention?" He will check to make sure the area is clear.
