"I don't know that we should run." Ane thinks, grateful for the grounding. "Not if it is just this one old man." She does not underestimate him based on his apparent decrepitude, but does feel the two of them can easily outpace him at a brisk walk, if they need to.

"I don't think any of those options are worse than the other?" She speculates. "So, maybe, we just head for whatever is closest? Like: 'Whoops. We missed out turn.' if we have to..."

But Ane is thinking about how they were 'in front' and let the Red Robe pass them by. "Or... maybe we just keep walking past him. What is he going to do? Attack us in the streets? He does not know us, not looking like this, so if he gets suspicious... what of? The wall goes that way, so everyone is walking the same direction. When he leaves the wall... that is when it might be more suspicious... but let's deal with that then." She is talking to herself more than to her companion, "don't borrow trouble" her mother always tells her.

"Completely dropping the disguise...? That should be quite quick... But I don't want to do that unless we absolutely have to, like if these personas are more compromised than our own faces —they know us. We can try a hasty change to someone else, it should go smoother than last time, we have been practicing and I have that elf/dwarf pair quite strongly in my mind."

Quill Ward you've been to: it's where you met the scribe that Ane is modeling your disguise after. A district of scholars and writers, many of them acting as advocates for those who seek redress from the pashahs or sylpashas of the city.

Hammer Ward is where almost all the city's metal work happens, though of course there are smaller shops in each other ward as well.

Crypt Ward: where the dead are sent. People go there on holidays to visit their decedents. It would be quite strange if the Red Robe took a turn down into there, today not being a holiday. Probably he would notice if you followed him down in there.

For sure.

'Strange', you say? :)

I wonder if Ane knows they have a reputation for being necromancers? I think, maybe, not enough to make the connection till after she sees them head there at this unusual time.
Ane and Asha are following along far enough behind that she is confident they won't be spotted on the wall. They can make a decision to follow more or call it a day depending on where the Red Robe leaves the wall path. It might take time to learn all their secrets, but knowing where to focus is a good first step, they can always find new Disguises to blend in better with the location if it is not Quill Ward or somewhere where their 'scribe' guise works.
