I'll try it. If I can figure it out, I'll put up the picture on the cast page... thanks...
Oct 12, 2016 6:55 pm
No problem. I was able to just open the link you posted to see the picture anyway, so it isn't absolutely necessary!
Oct 12, 2016 7:23 pm
Finally did it. Dear god. Never again. Dropbox worked though, after fighting with it. Thanks

Haha, no problem. It took me a bit too, when I first tried uploading that silly map.

So I was running my D&D 5e game over Discord tonight, hence the late reply. Even though it's 4:46 am right now, I had to get a post in! You guys are great, by the way; loving the conversations and the personalities so far.

Also, Auroran_Sky, I still couldn't see Pyrrah's picture in The Cast. Might've just been an issue on my end. Apparently it lets me edit other people's posts, as GM, though, so I went ahead and found the pic and linked it through my drop box. I hope you don't mind.

I should also point out the QCCs thread, if you guys haven't taken a look by now. You're welcome to use PMs instead, but letting me know the things you like and don't like is the best way for me to know how to make the game more fun for you guys. There's no requirement to using it, but I wanted it to be available.

Thanks! It would only work on my computer, I found. Anything mobile was out.

No problem!

How are things going, guys?
Oct 15, 2016 8:40 am
From my point of view, things are going well!

I'm really enjoying the pacing we're moving at. Quick, yet still allotting ample time for interactions between PCs and your posts are well detailed and immersive. I'm doing my best to keep up with posting, you all post quite often which is something I appreciate!

As for my fellow players, I'm growing very fond of your guys' characters. They all have really fun personalities, which is enhanced by the great RP and dialogue I've seen so far from you all! Definitely a mental exercise trying to match myself to the bar being set, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Overall, I'm having fun, and I'm looking forward to continuing the story. (:

Fun for me, the pace is quicker than I expected which I also like. BUT the last game I was in burned out quickly and the GM stopped posting. I dont see that happening here, but let us know if we all need to help you somehow.

I also notice that we have differing posting styles. whereas I try to do, say and show what I feel the group would experience around a table, other are posting inner thoughts giving a much more literary experience. I really like the group storytelling feel so I will adjust a little towards that. I also like that you are giving private notes, so not all inner thoughts and experiences must be shared right away.

Hmm..! Yeah, I can't guarantee that I'll always be able to post the same quality/quantity as it is now, but I doubt it'll shift due to lack of interest. But if something comes up and I'm feeling uninspired, then we'll work something out. :) So far it has not been as time consuming as I expected.

As far as the pace, I've played in PbPs, but the chat-based thing that I run is mostly solo-games, where there's just a single player. Never ran a PbP, so pacing is something that I'm just winging. I'm probably pushing it forward faster than it'll be once the characters go underground because I don't want people to get bored of exposition and doing things like signing ledgers. If you log on and we've migrated past something you wanted to act out, feel free to still include it in your post, and then react to what's currently going on. I don't want anyone to feel like they missed out on a good opportunity. Anyway, do let me know if I'm ever going too fast or going too slow. I've just been going to "the next thing" every 24 hours or so, until we're done with this little intro part with Bracklebase (My term, not Callie's). When it gets underground it'll be at your pace, though, however fast or slow you choose to be.

I think everyone's RP has been fantastic! I'm seriously impressed. It's way above the mental standard that I had set for the game. I don't want anyone to think that they have to post exceptional paragraphs of material, though. If you don't have the time to author up something great, then I think posting something small is better than nothing at all.

My groups tend to play in the same style that you do, XOSkel10, where we only show what the other players would see/hear. I don't necessarily have a preference, so I'm all for people just playing the way they're comfortable playing. As far as the secret notes, I like for players to be able to have their secrets and then share them or withhold them as they please. Feel free to hide your rolls, or send me notes when your character whispers, etc.

I have a tendency to do this a lot with the PbP medium, not sure why, I just do. But if it's messing with the game flow for anyone, or becoming too trivial, I can always change to posting more on the tangible side to try and help give a more tabletop-like experience. Just let me know, either on this thread or by PM.

I like the pacing and everybody's RP so far. My being in a different time zone will always be a setback but after playing so many games on this site (games have come and gone but I'm currently involved in over 2 dozen) I've gotten used to playing catch-up! :-D

Yeah, one of the things I love about PbP is that it allows for a more literary playstyle. I realize not everyone might be into that but I'm sure we can find a good middle ground. :-)

Shouldn't you use the Baker's Dozen metric? :)

That is a lot of games, sir.
Oct 15, 2016 5:08 pm
Haha! Well I'm not quite at two baker's dozens!

Some are more active than others. ;-) Some will see me posting several times in the day, while others will go a whole month without activity. I only GM one game here. I admit it: I'm an addict! :-D

I know how you feel. I run a weekly game over Roll20, I run this game here, and I play a game here. Then this chat-based thing I've mentioned is like running eight different solo-games in one big world. I play in two chat-based ones like it, too.

And I want to do more! I'm being very careful though, because I don't want to abandon any games. But I got the Adventures in Middle Earth book and I'm dying to give that a try sometime, too.

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. I'm getting to exercise some writing muscles I haven't used in years. I'm currently dealing with a much more busy schedule than I'm used to so can't keep the posting pace as it is, but haven't found the need to narrate too much of my characters actions with much of the exposition being group at the moment, so that's working out at the moment. Writing is faster for me when I have a clearer image of what I want to do. And I just want to watch for the moment and that's not interesting to write, so I'll sit back and enjoy what you guys are cooking up. That may come out muddled so I'll be clear, I'm definitely enjoying myself! Thanks for running this!

As for writing style, I'm trying to adjust to a more expositional style, but feel that my characters thoughts are something that help another poster understand more of the intention behind the actions, letting you as players and GM in on what is going on while your characters and NPCs are able to react to what's physically happening. If that's tripping anybody up or becomes a problem, let me know and I'll work harder to be strictly expositional to keep it clear and fun for all of us!

Its a lot of fun playing!
