Mercer will close in on the nearest target. (To get at least some damage in this round).
Edit: Would be real nice if 20's crit-ed.

OOC:
If you have crits, they work both ways. And that can be quite the bane as much as a boon!

On that note.... Considering the 1s we have rolled recently... You make an excellent point.

Mercer charged the next Ryan, the vibroblade still humming with deadly energy. The clone-thing turned toward him, its eyes narrowing as if sensing the coming blow—but Mercer was already in motion.

He ducked under a flickering telekinetic swipe and drove his shoulder into the creature’s chest, throwing it off balance for just a heartbeat. It was all he needed. The blade came up in a tight arc, slicing clean through the thing’s center with surgical precision.

Another shimmer—another ripple in the air—and the Ryan crumbled into black mist, vanishing as if it had never been real.

"Hey, Engineers, we don't have anything that we can track, do we?"
OOC:
Is there something I can put on one of these that, might go with them when they vanish. If they are transporting we may get some info.

I so very much wish Peter was still around ... He would be *such* a help with all of this. Particularly at 5th level!

"Next time we'll have something ready," Douklan says, firing at R4. "Though hopefully there won't BE a next time." Too worried about the possibility of hitting Hank, the shot goes high.

Is there no blood on my blade? Was there some when I slashed the Ryan and then there wasn't or are there some remnants?

Corbin notes how crowded it's getting around the last Ryan, however, those things pack quite a punch. No time to be overly cautious.

Mercer ducked low, his vibroblade humming as he surged forward with precise footwork. The last Ryan raised his telekinetic blade in defense, but Mercer was faster—his blade slid under the defense and carved through the creature’s midsection in a flash of light and static distortion.

At the same moment, Corbin took a half-step to the side and opened fire, a tight burst from his laser rifle slamming into the creature’s back. The double assault shattered the entity’s form—it twisted violently, flickered like a faulty hologram, then burst into a cloud of black, inky mist that vanished without a trace.

Silence followed. No more Ryans.

Not yet, anyway.

End of combat! What do you do?

Mercer takes a deep breath and straigtens out before he speaks. "Ok, what do we need to do now? And how fast can we move on?"
Apr 26, 2025 11:44 am
OOC:
You have dismantled the Heaven's Wing power plant and can transport it away. The wormhole/hyperdrive parts are in the other room and can now be safely dismantled.
Apr 26, 2025 11:02 pm
Corbin points to the power plant parts, "Those bits there are what we need to grab from in here. If you guys will load them up, I'll start untangling the hyperdrive." Corbin the heads back to the hyperdrive and begins unhooking it.
OOC:
It doesn't seem like it would need a roll, since it's all powered off. But feel to roll it if needed.
Apr 26, 2025 11:21 pm
Mercer will help as instructed.
Apr 27, 2025 3:47 am
Hank will first check on Maya and Erin to make sure they are ok and bring them out with the others. He will then help gather the power plant pieces with the others. The goal is to get all of the power plant equipment gathered up on the gravel sled or sleds so we can take them back with us.

Hank will try to "feel" if he can detect another countdown or not. If he feels another countdown, he will alert the others and start sifting through the data they have acquired to see what he can find on the magically regenerating Ryan's. If they are regenerating without the gate working, then there has to be a way to permanently kill them.

OOC:
If we can find a way to track them or attack a bomb to them when they disappear....
They disappear with their equipment?
Apr 27, 2025 10:44 am
The engineering room was bathed in a deep, oppressive red glow, the only illumination provided by the emergency lights lining the ceiling and floor. Equipment sat inert and lifeless. The soft hum of machinery had fallen silent, leaving only the sounds of their own movements and breathing.

Hank paused for a long moment, closing his eyes and stretching out with his precognitive senses, searching for that telltale pulse of danger — the countdown that had warned them before. But he felt... nothing. The ticking pressure was gone. Whatever was summoning the Ryans, it had stopped — at least for now.

He let out a breath and turned back toward the others. Maya and Erin were both on their feet, albeit Erin was still unsteady. Hank quickly helped them move out into the main area with Mercer. Together, they began gathering the heavy power plant components, hoisting them onto the grav-sleds with careful urgency. The pieces were awkward and delicate, but they made steady progress.

Corbin had already peeled away from the group, moving with practiced efficiency to the remains of the hyperdrive, beginning the delicate process of unhooking its connections from the makeshift portal.

They were just settling into a rhythm when the first sound pierced the heavy silence: a metallic clang, distant, echoing from deeper inside the facility. Hank's head snapped up. A second later came the unmistakable sharp crack of gunfire — not once, but several times, muffled but clear.

It was coming from the direction of the testing labs — both the animal experiments and the robot proving grounds.

The group froze for a heartbeat, staring at each other in the dim crimson light.

Something else was awake in the station.
OOC:
What do you do?
Apr 27, 2025 2:47 pm
Corbin instinctively ducks at the crack of the gun fire. Then, realizing the muffled shots must be in another section. Pushes on with the task of disconnected the cables. Do the job, one job at a time. F o c u s." His hands continue their work.
