Pretty classic strong, shape-shifting vamp who hates sunlight! And you can only choose one (nocturnal) form, so choose wisely! You can go fully traditional here, or do something a little more off the wall if you're some kind of Star Vampire...

As a space-travelling vampire, I need to ask, is it the sun specifically that hurts the vampire, or any star? Because if it's only the sun, Light's character chose really poorly where to settle.

I was maybe going to go superman logic of different types of stars :P

Feel free to keep using this thread, but I'm not busting each player / PC out into their own to help build them out.

Thanks for submitting, TTG! First PC to roll in, and while I might be away from GP tomorrow, I will shortly give you some of the details you need to finish your sheet, like the damage tables.

Alright, while we finish up character generation in the individual threads, let's chat about the team's role in the wide world of fill-in superheroes.

With The Sentinel Squadron gone for full a year now, things are going to hell in a handbasket.

Let's see what we can cobble together about them from the book:

So not a ton to go on. It was a year ago, it involved "The Battle of Worlds," and there is little doubt that the Squadron isn't coming back.

LightOfMight... the Star Vampires. Your people... did they maye target another world and the refugees came to Earth, where they desired to, you know, rule and stuff. Earth fights back, wins, the SS perishes... and is now Earth in the sights next for the Star Vamps? Maaaaaybe.

All other ideas and thoughts on this welcome.
And actually, I just posted some details in the Reference Thread about the Sentinel Squadron. Some good potential hooks in there if people want to grab them...

I do like the idea that it was the star vampires that murderized the Squadron. Maybe Light wants to hide that she's one of their kind...

Cool idea, if so I'd definitely like to know why they chose earth to conquer. Must be pretty powerful for even refugees to be able to defeat earth's mightiest.

Hmm. Is it that the Star Vampires targeted another world and the refugees from the Star Vampire attack took out the SS, or that the Star Vampires themselves took out the SS?

Either way, setting up Light's species as alien aggressors a la the Thanagarians in Justice League seems pretty cool. That means Light gets to be vampire Hawkgirl :)

Definitely see the Star Vamps as conquerors/aggressors, taking over other worlds so they can feed off the populace so that works. And her scout group did already ear mark this world as a possible one for them to conquer.

Maybe back then when they landed it was 'This place has lifeforms compatible with our feeding methods' but maybe by the tie the signal got back, things had changed/they found other more suitable planets to start, and so are only slowly making their way to earth.

If she does look as vastly different as the pic I posted in discord, which is tempting, she may not be able to hide what she is. If she is more of a ;rubber forehead alien' or looking very human she may be able to pretend.

Though tbf she may not take her suit around the others so it may just be certain member of the government agency that know her appearance.

I'm open to various ideas regarding the Star Vampires and the "Battle of Worlds" which resulted in the demise of the Sentinel Squadron.

It sounds like the option are:

1. The Star Vamp Scouts signaled for their kind to come -- and they did. The battle ensues and the SS sacrifices themselves. Question: did Othari switch sides? If so, why? If not, how is she not in space / metahuman prison?

2. The Star Vamp scouts sent their signal and went back to sleep. The Star Vamps attacked a nearby world, driving powerful refugees off that planet... towards Earth. They wanted to convert the atmosphere or some such, so earth fought back and won -- depsite losing the SS.

3. Set aside whatever the Star Vamps are doing, there was some other force from a different planet that tried to conquer earth, and that offed the SS. This one seems the least interesting to me since we have ready-made bad guys from the stars, but no pressure to go with 1 or 2.

And there are other ideas I'm sure, and blends of these... let's hash out in the Discord.

Someone remind me where we landed on this!

I remember it being #2, but I might just be remembering that because I liked it best.

Trawling the Discord, I don't think we came to firm consensus. #2 sounds good to me though... speak now or, you know.
Jan 5, 2025 5:03 pm
I like 1 the most and 3 the least, but 2 is fine with me.

Thanks bowl -- others feel free to weigh in, as this is something we're more likely to explore in-play, rather than have a big lore dump at the beginning.

2 I think I prefer as it still give time for Othari to decide what she is doing regarding her own people. 1 she would already need to have a reason to swap, or as said very good reason she's not incarcerated.

With 2 I can see her at the start deciding to keep quite these are her people, and try and be and insider, and then maybe along the road she can have a dramatic change of heart. Or not :P
