Hello! I'm Paladin!

I've been playing TTRPGs for about a decade. My introduction to them was D&D 4e, but most of my time has been spent playing 5e in some form or another. In 2022 I got into solo TTRPG, and then into OSR games and older editions of D&D in general. I have been running 5e for my friends for several years, and since getting into solo play I have supplemented that with a lot of OD&D and OSE solo games.

I'm looking to get into play by post because my schedule for table play isn't as consistent as it used to be with all of my friends and I graduating college and getting jobs. As fun as solo play can be, sometimes it doesn't scratch that itch that only collaborative storytelling can. I'm hoping to find a game or two that will really let me dig into my characters and improve my writing (especially dialogue) skills.

I look forward to getting to know some people around here and playing some games together!

Welcome - I haven't tried solo games yet. Is there one that you could recommend?

Truly, if you have a simple oracle to help you answer yes/no questions, you can play any game solo. I've played through several Old School Essentials modules this way. For solo specific games, however, I always recommend Ironsworn by Shawn Tomkin as a place to start. It's a PbtA game with a bit of a viking low-fantasy style and lets you make some awesome guided decisions about what your setting is before you start to play. The PDF is free, and there are expanded ruled for dungeon crawling you can purchase. Starforged is its sci-fi sequel, and the same author just published Sundered Isles which is more of a solo nautical adventure game.
