Something… maybe Aqee’s voice or face… brings Sable too. Something tingles at the fringes of her mind, as she lies there in the dark. She comes around, just in time for the explosion to send her hands to her ears.

Bits of debris rain down, and the young hero quietens her sword, and instead pulls up her jacket to protect her hair and face from the stuff raining down.

Her watch chimes. Out of the corner of her eye, there beneath her leather jacket, Sable sees a message from Aqee.

Only five hours late… the girl thinks, pain coursing across her body!

Trusting that the Arachknight, Nocturne and Sable can get the bus moving, Psion turns his attention to the building between Zone 2 and Zone 3 (the one with the yellow diamonds where the undead/zombie troopers came from). He scans the building with his telepathy, hoping there's something alive in there, something with enough of a mind for him to work with... all these machines.

It's not even a real test, he thinks. Give me flesh and blood, the real world, and they'd all be eating out of my hands.

He accidentally sends a memory to the team... the mental image of a tiny, colorful bird perched on the heel of his hand, eating seeds from his palm. It is accompanied by a sense of joy and almost child-like wonder... a memory from a time long ago, before he was ever known as Psion...

It disappears as quickly as it appeared. He's not even sure if he sent it. He returns his attention to the buildings, scanning, trying to determine if there's anything inside he can control with his mind, and if he can find it, sends a command to freeze, remain immobile, stop.

Preemptively rolling Telepathy in case there's something worth doing there. Let me know if I need to mark Stamina damage

Initially he wanted to see if it would be worth trying, if there was anything to reach. If it's not a roll to detect it, he's trying to get them to freeze in place and not move, not attack.

How long was I out?… Haven’t we beaten these guys yet?… Sable asks through their mental comms.

The mechajaguar smashing her into the trees, and then the barrage of bullets… things were a little fuzzy for the young hero.

Doh, apologies. I’m just realizing Psion -already- made the Telepathy check — and succeeded! Looking at the map, I’m going to presume this was the ‘C’ group he targeted, and that he moved a little closer to the action to get a better look at them and the building.

Enemy turns are next, and it looks to me like Atrophy and Psion would be the likely targets. We’ll start with Atrophy.

Not even noticing that a squad of their fellows has fallen silent, obeying the mental commands of Psion, multiple cadaver soldiers pop-up and lean out of their cover to shoot at Atrophy!

Atrophy was now right next to the buildings in order to have dropped the fuselage on top of one of them, near enough for the cadaver soldiers to pop out of the adjacent building to pepper him with machine gun fire. This time he was close enough to punch back when they did so, swiftly striking their guns out of the way with whatever remnant of airplane metal he still held in his hands.
OOC:
Just regular Hand-to-Hand melee this time to defend, not a Power use. I figured Atrophy could still be holding some club-like piece of metal to swing at them, after flinging the largest intact piece. If so, club damage is 9, if not, unarmed is 6.

As Atrophy swoops down and smashes two of the strange troopers with what looks like a massive flap from the now-destroyed military plane, damaging a third, the other squad jitters and shudders as though struck by electrically induced seizures. Their programming works to override whatever instruction Psion has left in the remnants of their gray matter…

Using two enemy actions to try and break the hold Psion has, using two actions. Psion, please make opposed rolls to Defend your hold over them.

On second thought, don’t. That costs (to your STA) seems unreasonable. Let’s just the value you used to establish the Telepathic connection / control. Which I think is 18, which means both rolls failed.

While that’s happening, the bus that Arachknight has just freed from her webs suddenly lurches forward! It coasts for a moment, then the driver slams the accelerator down and the big vehicles starts picking up speed!

I cannot easily update the map while we’re on the road, but picture the little blue bus moving to Zone 2!

Finally, as the brass confers, realizing the test is drawing to a close, and that nearly all of the team’s opposition has been defeated, a call is made from the main bunker.

"Foxtrot Tango Uniform," McKernzie says curtly into a sat-phone, and within seconds a jet that has been loitering nearby turns its nose towards the old airbase and lights it afterburners. The supersonic plane is high up and fast-moving; it passes over the battlefield in a heartbeat… dropping a self-guided bomb that will hit the ground in less than twenty seconds!

They aren't aren't they! Psion brain-waved to everyone, probably cackling a fair bit before he added, Time to turn the tables!

Looking up from his floating chair, the old man focused as he followed after the bus, then brought his mental energies to bear as he reached out to alter the path of the falling bomb...

But the thing was falling quickly, and hard to see in the sun. It glanced off his telekinetic nudge -- then glided right back on course!

The lone remaining drone targets the lagging bus as it rumbles closer during all this, pivoting in the air before it unleashes a hail of tracer fire on the vehicle!

Alas, after just a few rounds, the machine's magazine runs dry!
