What parts of the Guide to Monster Hunting should I read, as a player? I started with the Introduction, but it started referring to me (the reader) as a GM and seemed like it was giving information I didn't know if I should have. I skipped to the Races and read that plus Classes.
There is no need to read the Guide to Monster Hunting. There is nothing in that book that we will be using, apart from the adventure and its monsteres. I would actually prefer that you did'nt read it ;)
HgtMh is not on the list of allowed sorce materials. I know it has some sub-classes in it, but they lean heavily into the crafting items from monster parts and we are not going to explore that here.
On of the things that HgtHm is introducing is more unique monsters with different mechanics. For example (from an adventure I will not be running) is oozes that will mutate and their description will change as their damage resistance change. So the ooze in front of the barbarian will turn scaly (resistance to slashing) while the ooze fighting the warlock have purple shards inside itself (resistance to psychic damage).
This is the part I'm exited about :)

@runekyndig Sorry if this is a dumb question, what are the expectations for character creation medium? Like should we use DnDBeyond? Or should we use the gamers plane character builder? How do you want our list of magic items (in the thread or in a PM?)
I suggest that you make it as you are most comfortable with and then
go to this tread and pick up a 5e 2024 character sheet, and fill that in.
Then you submit that character sheet to this game. I will check it over and accept it.
Then you will have everything you need here, character information, integrated die roller ect.
Reguarding items, if you want to keep it privat I suggest that you write a post here and put it into Note brackets
[note="runekyndig"]
1: Rare item 1
2: Uncommon item 1
3: Uncommon item 2
4: Uncommon item 3
[/note]
And I will roll and count from the top. In this case it would be Uncommon item 1 and Uncommon item 2
