Question. Is Flash also blinded? She is more than 30 feet away by end of her turn.

Disregard question. I thought I see blinded next to Flash in table.

damage resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from nonmagical attacks = I only do half damage against the owl bear?

No you did half damage against the Faerie-o’-Fires. It is at 50% hp

Also @everyone
I suggest that you compair notes about this monster. There are clues to its strengths and weaknesses that I don't think you have picked up on.

Examples of clues that you have discovered by now.
You examined Pyrax.
β€’ Their eyes are milky white; they’ve been blinded.
β€’ Their skin is covered in horrific sunburn; they have suffered severe radiant damage.
β€’ The inside of Pyrax’s hand, which grasped the feather, is entirely unburnt, indicating that the feather was plucked before they suffered the sunburn. However, the feather seems to have been completely unaffected by whatever caused radiant damage to Pyrax

You have been hit by its SunBeam and been subjected to its blinding effect. The artwork here is from when Pyrax was struck with the SunBeam

You were also told that Pyrax had used a fire spell on the owlbear to little effect. That tells you that its resistant to fire damage

Well. Can't say for everyone, but at least I don't always thing the way DM expects me to.
For example made a conclusion that creature is not immune to fire damage, because fire woke it up. So using fire damage isn't too bad an idea

I'm also clueless of weather the clue you dropped me in a private note mean creature is immune to lightning or it is healing rapidly. But since intelligence is lowest score for my PC, she is going to make no conclusions at all.

I totally respect that.
But as I said in the beginning

Yesterday after putting the smackdown on Quercus I was starting to get worried about the outcome of this encounter

Hey gang, I think I agree with @runkyndi - we should probably come up with a bit of a strategy here. Not saying we need to leave the grove and try again, but maybe compare notes here and try and get some cohesion going on.

One thing I noticed is that the grove seemingly tried to teleport the owlbear away (if I read that right) on the first round of combat maybe we don't need to do enough damage to kill it, just have it fail that teleport check?

You think short range teleportation is the silver bullet here? Why? I'm missing the reason.

OK absolutely meta: I have a feeling that DM were trying to hint us that a radiant damage is healing owlbear instead of damaging it. A piece of owlbear in Pyrax's had healed Pyrax's hand.

So what's the Strategy?
Do we try to pluck owlbear and cover ourselves ( or at least Quercus ) in owlbear's feather?

I think we just keep hurting it and make very sure to not do any radiant damage.

GreyWord> Agree with your last sentence a 100% :)

@Runekyndig> What is the difference between my topple power and the trip feature of Anders? Why does one work as intendet and the other one doesn't?

@soises you tried to topple an incorporeal being, a living flame the Faerie-o’-Fires
It had a lot of immunities and resistances

Arten, (its a bugger we have two character beginning with the letter A), tripped the owlbear
It have hp but not as many immunities and resistances. It got something else tho.

I went back and re-read the section - Looks like i was confusing Quercus's Tree feature with something the map was doing!.

Don't know that I agree - but I can't deal Radiant damage, so we should be safe either way XD

I think the issue with Pyrax's hand not being burnt was that his fist was closed, so the sunbeam can only impact surfaces it can see - maybe we need to cover ourselves in a sheet or something to negate that ability?
Feb 26, 2025 6:40 pm
@runekyndig> ah! Okay. Must have missread. Thought that you mean that the Owlbear is immune. Thanks. :)
Feb 26, 2025 6:43 pm
Sorry to say, but the map is incorrect. The imp is bound at h25. Quercus has teleported to j25 after the binding.

Thanks! πŸ˜€

IMP-FIGHT!!! ;-P

I had thought Necrotic energy was the opposite of Radiant, which is why I used Divine Spark to add some Necrotic damage. Unfortunately, even if that's the case, I don't do enough damage for it to make a dent anyways.

How about just continually luring the creature further from the shrine? We're already a decent bit away, but still have half the map to move towards and see if it follows. Thoughts?
Feb 28, 2025 7:27 pm
If it follows - great! Quercus has one or two more teleports in him. So if you decide to fall back, don't hesitate because of me.

Still no better idea than plugging its feathers atm.

Hadn't noticed the regeneration before. πŸ€”

@runekyndig>
Could I plug a feather as part of an attack? Or how would this be handled rules wise? Or as my haste action?
Feb 28, 2025 8:59 pm
Janking feathers would be like janking hair. A unarmed melee attack
Mar 2, 2025 11:44 am
Can anybody cast darkness/fog cloud/...?

I'll plug a feather next round (if possible).

Question - should I interpret that "the golden forcefield" is not "magical effect", but a physical object instead? Are the levitating orbs also just a physical objects that are levitating non-magically?
