Everybody who has contracted the disease can attempt another DC 16 Fortitude save the next time you rest to try to recover. A success reduces the disease's stage by 1, a critical success reduces it by 2.. If it gets to 0, you are cured. You could try to use Medicine to Treat Disease, but that takes 8 hours so you'd make no progress in traveling today. You can also use a lesser antiplague to gain a +2 item bonus on saves against disease for 24 hours, which includes the save against the disease's progression.
Couple of mechanical questions:

Treat Disease - can treat someone for 8 hours.

- Can that person also be sick? Since Dalton is Sickened 1 - I assume that -1 also applies to his own medicine check.

- Can that person treat more than 1 person during those 8 hours. I believe there are some feats to expand this - I just don't remember if the default number was 1 or what.

- Does the bonus from Treat Disease stack with the anti plague. I think usually bonus of the same type do not stack.

Thinking Dalton could treat himself, but would take a -1 on the medicine roll. If he passes, he would get the bonus to the fort save, but if he fails he could take the anti plague to gain the fort save instead.

Just confirming how the mechanics all work.

@DrifterDwarf, you can still Treat Disease if you’re sick. Yes, you would take the -1 penalty.

You can only Treat Disease for one person at a time unless you have the Ward Medic skill feat.

The bonus from Treat Disease is a circumstance bonus, which is a different type from the item bonus that antiplague grants, so both would stack.

Thanks for the information. Slowly figuring things out.

The medicine check is an interesting thing. I can see if someone has a really high medicine skill, they could roll and succeed on the check - then granting someone else a better chance at the Fort Save.

However - if your skills are about the same - or your Fort Save is better - seem like the Medicine check is a waste. If you roll and fail - well you still have the Fort Save to maybe pass. If you roll and pass - well dang you should have just rolled the Fort Save instead because you now have another chance to fail :)

With my luck, I'll likely just fail both :)

Medicine is an essential skill to have especially as it progresses you can attempt a DC20 check which heals you 2d8 +10 and so on ....if you take assurance medicine you can never fail after a certain level. Then there is battle medicine so you can heal during battle....it's an essential skill in absence of other healing

It looks like Dalton is no longer sick. AJ has progressed to stage 2 (sickened 1 and fatigued) and Novac has improved to stage 1 (just sickened 1).

Lol so I guess we need another's day of rest.https://i.imgur.com/Amu9OmK.jpeg

Maybe Dalton with his higher wisdom than me can help AJ

Dalton wisdom is only +1, and the dice routinely hate me, but he will definitely try.

Nice bird ! Can we keep him? lol 😆

Moving my rules confusions to this thread since it's more appropriate.

I was looking over my conditions just to be sure of everything and noticed that sickened says I can't willingly ingest anything, including elixirs or potions. Does that mean that while I have this disease I can't actually eat or drink at all? Should I also be rolling for some kind of deprivation due to my inability to eat or drink? And doesn't that also mean I can't ingest the lesser antiplague? There's also a rule for retching to make a save against the DC and lower the sickened value? Can I do that as much as I want or are we confined to only being able to make the save when we rest? Sorry for all of the questions, I feel a little silly for only noticing all of these rules now.

Technically that is correct but I’m not going to punish you too harshly at level 1, so I’ll say you can still eat and drink, including the antiplague.

Novac has fully recovered now but AJ is still at stage 2 of the disease. Fortunately, the disease only has 2 stages so she can't get any worse!

It's up to you if you want to keep resting or proceed on. You should reach the river today if you continue traveling.

Oh. And here I was typing a dramatic post because I thought the disease could eventually kill me. lmao. I'll edit.
Apr 24, 2025 12:55 pm
@TheForsakenEvil with the critical success, you have fully recovered! :D
Apr 24, 2025 1:19 pm
Huzzah! RNG decided to reward me finally after so many terrible dice rolls and burning 2 hero points, haha. Thought I'd be stuck with it until we managed to get to civilization!
Apr 24, 2025 1:59 pm
@TheForsakenEvil congrats lol ;)

Who is good at crafting? I took the skill because there are very few skills I don't have lol. However it is intelligence based and I didn't put a point in that so my crafting is 1d20+3 .....is anyone better at that ?
Apr 24, 2025 2:36 pm
Thanks. :^)

I have a +2 from Intelligence, but I'm not trained in crafting, unfortunately.
Apr 24, 2025 3:05 pm
Novac is the only person trained in Crafting.
