I've worked for various town guards, my place being mostly in the shadows rather than on patrol. I was on my way to Hookhill to find work the night we met. I'd be willing to hear your story when the moment allows."

Jonel looks at the spellbook: it is a series of observations, hypotheses, notes, and diagrams that a magic wielder made to document spells that they were creating, testing, and refining. Like most wizards, the author of this book guarded their secrets closely, writing in code. Beyond that, he'd need the help of a wizard as well as time to decipher it. But if anyone put in that effort, they'd have a head start on learning spells.The single silver earring tingles in Jonel's hand.
Arya examines the badge and immediately recognizes the symbol as that of Heironeous, God of Righteousness and Glory. Hearing this, Rosemary recalls tales of several militant orders of Heironeous devotees: the Order of the Shining Sword, the Valorous Host, the Order of the True Strike. The faithful to that god travel the world, opposing chaos and evil and promoting law and justice. Some storytellers claim that the very first paladins ever to exist were worshippers of Heironeous.
Examining the red gem, Rosemary determines that she can press it against the side of any weapon and it will remain affixed to it until she twists it just so and it comes off again. That seems to be magic, but the purpose of it - aside from adding some flashy dazzle to a weapon - is unclear.

And the sale of items comes to mind instantly. Obviously the non-magical goes first but it appears that our lack of funds would say something magical may as well go on sale too. Be best if anyone wants any of those weapons to pipe up.

Just FYI: with the "more difficult magic item identification" rule in play, the only way to identify magic items is to have Identify cast on them, unless it is an item that can be used (like wielding a weapon, donning armor, or sipping a potion): the use will often reveal that item's type of magic, though not the specific abilities or extent of effect. For instance, you don't know what type of healing potion it is, just as you might discover that a spear is magical but not know what the specific magic bonus/effect is.Mar 30, 2025 11:54 pm

The mission from Olpert for the Dungeon Busters was clear: - escort the Jarls home
- continue to Orlane to look for Aanbo, Chase, Myrtha, Reptile, and Theran. If you find them, warn them that Bandit Black is one of "the faithful" and join them. If you can't find them, or you find them dead or captured, return to Hochoch and tell Olpert about it and whatever else you have found in Orlane.
