Robert eyed Eugen with a worried glance. He placed a hand on his shoulder and gently squeezed it. "Mr. Chornyi, get a hang of yourself. We will definitely get out of this place. Don't worry."
Mar 1, 2025 4:52 pm
"Sure, sure."

Eugen nods.

The shrine looks like something that would interest Mr. Chornyi and she turns to ask him to look at what she has found, but sees him seemingly enthralled with the mural. She turns back and tries to recall anything she learned from him or her book when Dr. Whittaker exclaims he has translated the final pages and then a CLANG!

She gasps and holds up her parasol as though ready to brain whatever is arriving, but puts her parasol down again as Mr. Chornyi starts to sing a song only he understands. As Dr. Whittaker puts a steadying hand on him, she nods along.

"Yes Mr. Chornyi, that is probably just the workers finally getting the entrance open. Right?"

She looks at the others for reassurance.
OOC:
If I use luck to bring the roll down to 1%, would that count as a success?

Rolls

Archaeology vs 1% - (1d100)

(5) = 5

OOC:
Yes, you can spend 4 Luck to get a success on that!
Mar 2, 2025 3:32 pm
OOC:
All right, then yes, using 4 luck points!
With no reassurance in sight, Lady Bishop's shoulders and face droop with despair. She turns back to the shrine hoping for one last piece of inspiration.

OOC:
Not much I'm afraid.
Clara once read somewhere about these figurines. They are known as Shabti, small funerary statuettes intended to act as slaves in the afterlife.

How's Thomas doing @Natural_Causes
Mar 3, 2025 8:49 am
Thomas cocks his head at the sound.
OOC:
Sorry for missing the last couple of days folks. I got blindsided by some real life stuff that needed my attention and I forgot to message you all in the kerfuffle.

Rolls

Listen vs 20 - (1d100)

(33) = 33

Mar 3, 2025 10:56 am
OOC:
Would you like to drop some luck on that? Or maybe take a risk on a push?
Mar 4, 2025 7:31 am
You all stand in the Annex after the noise. Silence follows, aside from your breathing as you wait to hear the shouts of the workers.
OOC:
What do you do now?
Mar 4, 2025 8:41 am
Robert waited with batted breath and then turned towards his companions, "It doesn't seem to be coming from the entrance and I can't hear any of our workers. Should we investigate? We are running out of candles."
Mar 4, 2025 12:49 pm
"We should go back to the main room. At least there's so much stuff. There must be something that serves us as a tool or torch. Hihi."

Eugens gesture and overall pose do not quite reflect his words. It's a defensive pose, the trowel still held like a small sword in front of him, the 3rd candle in the other.

He's slightly shaking.

Disturbed by the violent end to the man and not finding anything as interesting as the treasure room, Lady Bishop nods at Dr. Whittaker's question. It seems the most valuable things in this room were the man's possessions.

"Yes, maybe one of you will fare better in finding a torch or something in that room. And did one of you not mention there being something interesting behind the plaster at the entrance? I can take the candle so you can concentrate Mr. Chornyi."

She offers a gloved hand to grab the candle that is quickly melting down to nothing.
Mar 4, 2025 8:12 pm
Carefully Eugen puts the candle into Lady Bishop's hand.

"Watch out, My Lady. The wax is hot and trickling down here.
But at least the pain is proof that we're still alive."
Mar 4, 2025 10:26 pm
Moments pass as you decide what to do and the second candle is almost extinguished. Suddenly, heavy footsteps echo round the tomb.
Mar 5, 2025 6:26 am
Robert turned towards the sound of footsteps. "Wait, what was that? Aren't we the only ones inside the tomb?"
Mar 5, 2025 9:20 am
Thomas takes up a defensive stance.
"I'll pop out and take a look," he says. He balances on the balls of his feet and tries to move quietly to look in the other room.

Stealth vs 50 - (1d100)

(14) = 14

Mar 5, 2025 10:50 am
Thomas creeps out of the annex and back to the main treasure room.

It becomes obvious that the footsteps are coming from behind the stone. The footsteps stop and there's a heavy grating of stone against stone.

Thomas quickly hurries back to the others.
"That big stone slab in the treasure room is moving. There's footsteps behind it. Do you think the crew could have found another way in?" Thomas is whispering, for reasons he isn't consciously aware of.
Mar 5, 2025 12:04 pm
"That might be. However, I can't think of anything so big that we hear the footsteps here in the Annex.", Eugen whispers as well.

"Anyways. We're trapped in this part of the tomb. Why not get back to the main room, grab anything we could utilise for light or defense? We also could go back to the stair, block up the small whole we crawled through. Thomas still has the explosives?"

An anxious and loud breath leaves his throat. Then he makes a step forward, the trowel in his hand as if it was a crucifix.
OOC:
Eugen does not have any helpful skills in the current situation, if there's no sudden epiphany in terms of history/archeology. We could remain here and wait or go all in - the party's trapped and something big is approaching us. We can wait, fight for flee. But waiting doesn't seem fun ...
