Sorry, I didn't make it clear, but the gnomes will provide you with your starting equipment tomorrow morning before you depart. You can also spend your leftover coin on things before you depart. If you want to make money now, you have time to do so by attempting to Earn Income. It's a level 1 task with a DC 15.Mar 13, 2025 2:09 pm
With everyone going out and doing important things, Rone's mind wondered about what he should do. He was neither a studious guy nor a craftsman. His boredom took over him, and he thought about socializing with the people of Finderplain. He went out and took a stroll until he found a tavern with a lot of people and started socializing with the tavern keeper and locales.
OOC:
I am not initiating an entire scene; I am just making a good impression with the tavern keeper and local. So, I think that a different scene is necessary unless there is going to be something that will happen. So, rolling for make an impression check with -2.Rolls

Eugene walked through the city streets until he smelled the scent of burning coals, it was familiar, yet strange. He followed it until he found a forge. He'd seen these in action at the local renaissance festivals, as well as a old timey farm where they still ran a forge to blacksmith their own horseshoes, nails, etc.
"Excuse me" he asked of the blacksmith "I am new in town and I am looking to make some coin. Do you have any need for an extra set of hands?"

I'd like to earn a living blacksmithing, it's one of my specialty crafting focuses. Because of that I believe I get a +1. I'll roll and then if this isn't a possibility then we can ignore. Rolls

The gnomes at the tavern quickly warm up to Rone’s friendly demeanor, and soon he finds himself getting free drinks and warm smiles from the locals.
Meanwhile, the red-haired gnome blacksmith gives Eugene an appraising look. "Of course! I’ve always admired dwarven craftsmanship. Have a go, friend!" He offers the man a leather apron. It seems Eugene has quite the knack for working the forge. By the end of the day, he’s earned a fair amount of coin.

Mathias, finding himself at a loss of what to do, wanders the streets until finding a local healer. He wanders inside and offers to help look after some of the patients, if they could use the extra hands. After several hours, he decides it best to return and get some rest - they'll have to be up early, after all.

Several camels are tethered to the wagons, and a gnome stablemaster leads four more of the humped beasts over to you. "You do know how to ride, yes? Hold tight to the reins and keep your feet in the stirrups. And be careful--they spit!"

"I...think I can," Mathias says, feeling more confident internally than he should be. He's never ridden a horse, much less a camel. Somehow he feels he can manage just fine.
Mar 15, 2025 2:06 pm
Rone remembered seeing a camel back in his own world, but he never considered riding one. These creatures could survive long periods without drinking water, which fascinated him. However, their long legs meant climbing up on one of them could raise you to greater height than most animals. They were, ofcourse not as large as elephants, but....did elephants exist here in this world?
He proceeded to climb up on one that was resting.

A map of Katapesh and surrounding regions:

Katapesh is a nation dedicated to trade and little else. Its bazaars are known across Golarion not just for their size, but for their incredible (and sometimes immoral) variety of wares. No item is too rare or taboo to be found somewhere in the tents, shops, and wagons of the nation’s merchants: magical reagents, forbidden spells, holy relics, and deadly poisons. In Katapesh, those with the gold make the rules, and the only question is whether one can afford their desires.
Strangely, Katapesh was founded by a group of Sarenite refugees. Fleeing south from pogroms in Osirion, these devout settlers founded two cities that would eventually become Solku and Katapesh. Yet life was hard on Katapesh’s plains, and constant assault by gnolls, bandits, and destructive sandstorms led subsequent generations away from the faith, seeking salvation in something more concrete.
They found it in pesh: a rare cactus growing in the nation’s interior, the sap of which could be distilled into a powerful euphoric drug. Trade boomed as residents of the Inner Sea region clamored for the new drug, and with the influx of money came warring gangs and pesh dens full of helpless addicts. As the economic boom and influx of foreign trade allowed local merchants to expand into other wares, the fundamental anarchy of a drug-fueled economy continued under a loose consortium of corrupt merchants and outright criminals.
The Pactmasters changed that. Seven feet tall, robed and masked to hide their forms, the Pactmasters arrived from parts unknown and took control of the city of Katapesh—and by extension the nation—in a bloodless coup that no records can explain. Though they didn’t end the city’s freewheeling approach to trade, they stabilized and formalized it. Under their guidance, usually filtered through humanoid mouthpieces like Pactbroker Hashim ibn Sayyid, the nation has become perhaps the largest black market in the world, its independence maintained by economic ties and a constabulary of metal constructs known as aluums.

@Stalker05 , well since you asked, go ahead and attempt a DC 14 Nature check! :DMar 26, 2025 12:25 pm
The camel takes one look at Rone before spitting the partially digested contents of its stomach at him! Fortunately, Rone is able to dodge the disgusting projectile. It splatters on the ground harmlessly. After that, he is able to climb up on the camel without further incident.

Rone wasn't expecting such a disgruntled animal, but thanks to his agility, it was not able to ruin his clothes. Nonetheless, he didn't stop to express his opinion about the animal, "Damn, someone is unhappy this morning! What did I do to you to make you hate me? Do I owe you money?"

Welcome back.He winces as he sees a Gnome lead in a quartet of camels. Surely they don't intend us to... Yep, they sure do. He can already imagine how sore he'll be after only an hour riding one of those.
He's fairly sure that he can manage to at least ride one, as long as he doesn't have to do anything fancy.
Mar 27, 2025 10:02 am
Mathias looks over the equipment, taking only what he thinks he'll need then regards the camels a moment. He approaches one, hand out, and pets its face when he gets close, then moves around the side and swings himself up onto its back. "Okay," he says, "not too bad, so far.'
Mar 27, 2025 9:06 pm
Eugene approached one of the camels and worked out the logistics of getting atop it with his squat form, urging the camel to lower to a laying position and then pulling himself up onto one of it's humps. "I've done some reading on this Katapesh, and have a decent map of the area. These Pact Masters seem to be in complete control, but what I couldn't find out is how they took control. The only thing noted in my research was that it was a bloodless coup"

Once you get a hang of riding the camels, the caravan sets off into the desert. You soon leave Finderplain behind, heading northeast along a well-traveled road. You pass sandy dunes and rocky outcroppings as you journey. The first day passes without event, and you set up camp for the night, surrounded by the circle of wagons. The gnomes cook a hearty meal and eagerly swap fantastic stories around the fire before you settle down in bedrolls for the night.
The next day's journey begins quiet enough. However, just as the sun is about to set and the wagonmaster is about to call for a halt, you spot a band of four creature lurking behind a nearby dune. They are tall furred humanoids with heads like hyenas, wearing leather armor and gripping longspears. It looks like they are preparing to attack!

@Madclergy, Eugene may act before the enemies! They are currently 30 feet away and have cover.
