And while I was away with my post half-written, Gann posted!

Here's the latest, with him bolting and only Nessa to act before the Giant.

Nessa considers the wand. Whatever is going on with it certainly is curious, but this might not be the best time to experiment with it. She instead opts for a more practical approach.

Using her dagger, she reflects the sunlight towards her companions, hopefully drawing their attention towards her and the boogers. Preferably without alerting the latter.

A flash from near the treeline to the west catches Wren and Sable's attention as they start their break for the trees, and after a second or two they see Nessa. And her gesturing towards a thicket that looks... occupied? It's hard to say by what, there there's a rustle and small figures are seen lurking behind bushes.

Back at the southeastern corner of the cottage, Gann takes off--leaving the giant to his bloody finger-stump curses. The brute thunders back to the front door... where leans his heavy club. Seconds after Gann takes cover behind the big stone hearth that juts out of the side of the building, the giant rounds the corner with a glower on his face and a frighteningly large piece of wood in his hands.

"FIE FI!" he shouts, his voice practically shaking the surrounding trees. "NO POT FOR YOU, LITTLE GOBBIE! INTO THE STOMP AND SMASH PILE YOU WILL GO!"

And with that, the giant lumbers forward, towards the back of the cottage--and Gann's hiding spot.
OOC:
Love that, Nessa!

You are under cover, Gann.

So at the end of Round 4 / Start of Round 5 (the map should say Round 5, I think):

Hearing the giant’s threats, Gann doesn’t wait or look back. He stays as close to the cottage as he can and runs north until he can round the corner, hoping to clear it before he’s spotted.

Once around the corner he runs full speed towards the tree line, skirting left of the makeshift toilet and to the right of the stumps. Once he’s occluded by the trees, Gann makes a sharp turn left and does his best to get away from the spot where he entered the woods.
OOC:
Using my action for movement here as well. Gann is hoping he was quick enough to narrowly avoid being seen, and failing that is still trying to draw the giant away from the others.

Once the group is out of sight, Sable is surprised at Nessa's gesture and the clear evidence of something lurking in the bushes on the edge of the woods. It is perfectly situated to see what they were up to in the window and potentially seeing inside as well. Clearly, whoever was there was not a friend and potentially a foe since they did nothing but watch the situation. The prowler turns to the others and jerks his thumb to the rustling bushes, whispering, "Nessa and Brother Dirk, watch my back. Wren, is there anything you think you can do for Gann?"

If there is nothing else he can help with or have Kitt to help with Gann, he will sneak further into the woods to try and approach from there to block escape and see what is in the bushes. He will have Kitt on standby to potentially scare the lurkers towards him.

Hearing Sable's plea for her to help Gann, she nods and immediately makes a sharp turn to the south, running around the SW corner of the giant's house and into the wide open door of his hut. Her plan? To set fire to the giant's bed, run outside, and yell at the giant that his bed is on fire, and he'd better deal with it, thus giving us time to escape!

With her warning revived, Nessa readies her dagger, this time to strike. Should the little bastards try anything funny she will leap out from her hiding spot and attack them.

Just a note on movement. Check out the sketch, which has a scale (one large square is 10'). We're not counting exact squares to be sure, by my estimation for all these moves we're looking at:

Wren can run about 40' to the entrance of the giant's cottage this turn. She could, however, be lighting something as she goes.

Gann can similarly run 40' to the north and then west, but there's a chance the giant will catch a glimpse of him if it pursued.

For Sable, Kitt and Dirk--are you running straight at the furtive shapes in the woods, or approaching them in a more flanking or roundabout way?

For Gann I was intending on taking my action to move as well, so 80’. Page 64 mentions using an action to move a second time. I think this should be enough to get me into tree cover, then maneuver a bit to the left after to throw off any large pursuers. Does that seem possible?

Well fiddlesticks—I’ve been looking for that rule, but overlooked it.

So yes, if using your action to ‘move again,’ a couple of things change:

Gann: it looks to me like a second move going west (so remaining out of sight) could take him to the edge of the wood… or to behind that western woodpile. Remember he is unaware of anything in the woods, as he didn’t see Nessa’s warning flash. That might have come out wrong. Her warning signal.

Wren: can use her action to light a torch (if she has one) on the way and end up in the doorway… or get right to the bed on this turn, but not have anything lit in hand.

Question remains for Sable, though bear in mind the movement rule Gann pointed out.

Wren wants to be at the bed this round, lighting the torch and running back to the doorway next round, then yelling to giant and double moving away in round three.

Sorry for not being very clear, my intent was to run mostly north, and just a bit west, going between the "stumps" and the pooping hole (gross) to enter the woods near where "start of round 4" is written. Once out of sight in the tree line, he starts going west. The hope is to do it all unseen, but if the giant does catch sight I’m trying to lead him north instead of towards my friends.

And yeah, if I keep skirting around that way to the west, I’m likely to stumble unaware into some boogers… but that’s for another turn!

Ah, OK, Sable will use move and action to get behind the sneaky petes and see if he can tell what's hiding. Does he need to spend all 80 feet to go that far behind the bushes? Would like him to end up about 10 feet or 1 square behind these guys.
