Al grimaces as the poison courses through his veins. He quickly places his hand on his wound, which begins glowing.

This time, Dalton lands two powerful blows on the snake! Bones crunch under his fists, and the beast writhes in pain. Al bring his club down on its skull with a satisfying SMACK, and the snake goes limp.
OOC:
Combat over!
Mar 11, 2025 1:39 pm
AJ wipes some sweat from her brow and shudders amidst the echoes of jittering adrenaline and ecstatic power.

"That thing was way too fucking fast for how big it was. Al, are you going to be okay?"
Mar 11, 2025 10:31 pm
After punching the snake into the ground, Dalton took a breath, then rushed over to Al.

"Did you say poisonous?" he pulled out the healer kit he had just picked up, rifling through things which he was surprised he actually recognized what a lot of them were, although he had no idea why. "You got any fancy magic for poison."

He held a small vial with some herbs which for some reason he knew might help with poison. "Some of this might help, but I'm kind of going on instinct here..."

He started with water, just washing the wound and poison off.
OOC:

Unless someone has fancy magic - Dalton is going to try a medicine check for Treat Poison.

Unless Al has a higher Medicine - Novac and Dalton both have +4 I think. I assume multiple Treat Poison can not stack, although I saw Aid as an option also.
Mar 11, 2025 11:18 pm
Novac, seeing Dalton and AJ rushing to Al's side to help, went to find his daggers. He didn't want to lose the weapons, and it seemed that although he knew how to use them, he still needed to practice his throwing routine. "Well, I guess it pays to keep our eyes open," he said once he retrieved his daggers.
OOC:
@DrifterDwarf Once you treated a person with medicine (success or failure) the person is immune for one hour. There is a feat you can pick up to reduce it to 10 minutes. With that feat you can treat the same person every 10 minutes.
Mar 12, 2025 7:54 am
OOC:
That's only for Treat Wounds. After you attempt to Treat a Poison for a creature, you can't try again until after the next time that creature attempts a save against the poison. I'll make a few rolls here to speed up the recovery process.
Dalton tends to Al's poisoned wound. The venom burns his veins a bit more, but soon enough, Dalton's ministrations allow Al to recover.
OOC:
Al takes another 2 poison damage. He will remain drained 1 until he gets a full night's rest.

As the poison seems to abate in Al's system, Dalton sits back after trying a number of different things from the healers kit. It was kind of a blur, he followed what made sense at the time, but he doubted he could tell you what he had just did. Still, it seemed to have mostly helped.

"You feeling better Al?" normally he someone a shade of green would be a bad thing, but Al had looked a bit pale while poisoned and was looking a little more spinach now.

As Dalton packed up his healer kit, "I can't believe my dad did this every day..." he glanced up at the others who had no idea what he was talking about. "Oh - my dad was a paramedic. 35 years I think. Damn he had some stories, but the stories do not do it justice when you got someone injured and you are just trying to figure something out. Obviously he did not have magical super powers to help."

Dalton just shook his head in wonder, perhaps a new appreciation for what his father had done at work everyday. Standing up slowly. "Take your time, we'll get moving when you are ready, although might want to move away from this pile of snake."

He looked around the jungle, "Good job spotting that thing, I completely missed it. We definitely need to stay alert."
Mar 12, 2025 12:45 pm
"Well, glad our magical super powers came with someone who knew what they were doing and the tools to help. I was kinda panicking, trying to figure out what to do. My magic can close wounds, but it can't take care of anything like that. Didn't learn anything useful from my dad. He was just an absent, deadbeat drunk."

Seeing Al looking physically better eased AJ's anxieties, but the mention of stepping away from the snake had her stop to stare at it.

"This might sound kinda stupid, but like, does anyone know how to skin a snake or extract its venom? Its super trope-y for this kind of situation. Could probably be useful."

Thanks for the help, everyone. I’ll make it, I can say that much.

Al grimaced as he examined his wound.

Might as well…
OOC:
Al will cast Healing Plaster and will attempt to Treat Wounds
Al will follow AJ’s gaze to the dead snake.

Maybe if we grab a fang, we’ll be able to use its poison. Trust me, just don’t get it on yourself.

Rolls

Treat wounds - medicine - (1d20+4)

(12) + 4 = 16

"Extract poison from a giant snake I didn't even know existed? I wouldn't know where to begin." Novac offered a wry smile, then turned a serious gaze to Al. "Do you think we can still push on, or should we find a place to rest?" He was beginning to doubt their chances. They were being relentlessly worn down by unseen threats. Superpowers or not, they needed to find a way to circumvent these dangers, not confront them directly.
Mar 12, 2025 6:34 pm
AJ glances back and forth between Al and Novac briefly before ultimately shrugging and pulling out her dagger. Do I have any idea how to do this? No. Am I going to make a mess? More than likely. Oh well.

"Take time to think about it while I cut into this thing."

Crouching down next to the beaten and broken creature, she hesitates before poking it with the point of her blade. As it remains still, her hand takes hold of the creatures head and pushes it on to its side. AJ clears her throat and takes a deep breath before prying open its maw and attempting to carve out one of its fangs.
OOC:
Not sure if this will require a roll or if it will be nature or survival. I'll leave it to Brainy!
Mar 12, 2025 6:45 pm
OOC:
Your Nature and Survival bonuses are the same so I’ll roll for one or the other. Critical failure!
The movies make it look so easy to harvest venom from a dead animal, when it’s actually quite difficult. AJ botches the job quite thoroughly. The snake’s body is too ruined now to make another attempt.

Rolls

AJ Nature/Survival DC 18 - (d20+1)

(6) + 1 = 7

Dalton watched AJ butcher her attempt at butchering the snake.

"I learned to gut a deer when I was a kid, but nothing more than that. Where I grew up, first two days of deer season were off school because every male above the age of 13 was in the woods with a rifle. All I remember was it being damn cold and freezing my ass off. Never went out again."

He paused to think for a second, "no unexpected knowledge about that springing magically into my head, so the magical kung fu fighting package apparently does not come with animal skinning."

Dalton watched Al form some magic mud and put it on his leg, "It is strange to just remember how to do things which you should not know how to do."

As the were pausing for a few minutes, Dalton felt the desire to recollect himself, something pulling at him to gather his ki or something. He walked a few feet away from where the snake was being brutalized, sat cross legged on the ground and meditated, pulling the energy from around him to rebalance that which he had used against the snake.

Feeling more energized, he would have to add that to the list of strange magical stuff he some how knew how to do now.
OOC:

Regain focus spell. Let me now if that is right - seemed appropriate.

Novac chuckled, watching AJ's attempt. "I'm pretty sure that's not quite right," he said, a smirk playing on his lips. "Though, to be fair, my outdoor experience is limited to concrete jungles. What where you planning to do with that poison?"
Hearing Dalton's description, he mused, "Sounds like a picture-perfect suburban dream—hunting trips with the guys." Not that Novac would have traded places. Different strokes, he supposed.
Mar 13, 2025 12:03 pm
Cringing and cleaning off her dagger, AJ quickly puts the weapon away and steps away from the snake. Half of her was optimistic and the other half knew she'd butcher it, but they both cringed at the result.

"Other than the magic and maybe some basic combat skills, I'm not sure what hidden knowledge I've come pre-programmed with. It feels like I won't really know until the situation sparks it. I don't think any of the skills I brought with me will be much good in the world we've found ourselves in. No video games. Don't think I'll be dissecting literature or writing essays any time soon either. But as for the poison, I dunno. Probably try to use it on something or someone trying to kill me. I'm getting the vibe that there might be a lot of that."

Her musing sounded nonchalant, but in truth it it was unnerving. What if I just die here?

"Anyway, it seems like we're all good. We should keep going."

The rest of the day passes without incident. You set up camp again that night, but this time, your equipment doesn't quite manage t okeep all of the insects, rain, and other unpleasant jungle elements from reaching you. You wake up a bit groggy and uncomfortable.
OOC:
Everybody must attempt a DC 17 Fortitude save against disease or catch dysentery. It has an onset period of 1 day, so you won't suffer immediate effects.
You continue your trek through the dark and humid jungle. In the afternoon, you come upon a small clearing. Several huge, rotting trees lie in various states of decomposition here, vibrantly decorated with colorful mushrooms and moss. The deadfall is shaped in a rough "C", making a fifteen-foot-wide sheltered area within. An exceptional number of insects scuttle and scurry across the dead trees and other detritus on the jungle floor below.

Already searching and alert for danger, Novac spots a trap! A concealed trip wire is connected to two scythe blades hidden in the detritus in front of the entrance to the sheltered area.
OOC:
The trap can be disabled with a DC 18 Thievery check.

OOC:
Ahhhh don't like that. Rolling now! ...Yep, this sucks, haha.
Waking up in this jungle was starting to make this strange dream of a reality feel more like a nightmare. The aches, heat, sweat, and now insufficient tents left AJ wondering if this was actually hell she had found herself in. However, the insects and moisture kept her from wanting to wallow. Well, it's a good thing that the Ekujae gave us stuff to ward off fantasy malaria. She choked down one of the bitter antiplagues she was given before they set off.

Coming across the weird clearing of decay and vibrant life, AJ was unsure if she found it beautiful or repulsive.

Fortitude Save vs. DC 17 Disease - (1d20+4)

(11) + 4 = 15

Mar 13, 2025 2:17 pm
Novac awoke, his head throbbing, more drained than he'd ever felt. Not for the first time, he longed for the confines of his prison cell. Spotting AJ gulping down the strange potion they'd been given, he decided to follow suit. "Ah, the taste of medicinal morning," he mumbled.
After a long, weary trek, as they approached a potential shelter, Novac noticed a trap. He raised a hand, signaling the others to halt. "Listen, there's a tripwire here. Someone, or something, clearly doesn't want us around. And frankly, I'm not keen on lingering. I'll attempt to disable it. I suggest you all keep your distance, just in case this goes sideways." With that, he produced his tools and set to work."
OOC:
Finallysome decent rolls here.

Thievery (Dex) - (1d20+7)

(14) + 7 = 21

Novac easily disables the trap by severing the tripwire. He can hear mutters and hisses coming from inside the sheltered area of the deadfall...
Mar 13, 2025 5:06 pm
Novac, after disabling the tripwire, went back to where the others were waiting. "I disabled the trap, but I heard hisses and muttering from inside. I don't want to get into another fight. I could try to sneak inside to see what's going on in there." He was surprised to hear himself talk like that. He wasn't sure if it was even him anymore. Sneak inside to check things out? That wasn't like him. If he had heard voices or anything unexpected in the past, he would have run... fast.
