Seeing the effect the song continues to have on his companions and the crew, Golwen takes up his ringing of the bell once more in the hopes of disrupting the effects.

Emerging from below deck Haesh is ready for more action. He looks around not seeing anything and hears the odd melody...

CancerMan sent a note to Jinn24,ChaosZeppelin
The captain and first mate blink in understanding, even before Golwen begins to ring the bell again. "It's a siren song!" shouts Yokgrumli over the din. "Fight it, lads!" The dwarf immediately goes to the wheel, not only to maintain course, but to defend against anyone seeking to turn the ship.

Twelve men clambered up to the main deck with the party. They looked about confusedly, and as the song came into focus, they all turned to the port side. As soon as the bell begins to ring, six of the crew seemed jarred out of their trance. However, the other six move to the port rail and seem ready to jump over.

The first mate dashes to the one of the men at the rail and grabs him by the shoulders, turning him slightly to give a hard slap across the man's face. The crewman recoils and shakes his head, the stinging pain apparently clearing his senses.

The men in the water begin to swim towards one of the dark rocky spires in the distance.
OOC:
You may all act. Golwen is busy ringing the bell, but can still choose to act however he feels.
Dec 21, 2016 6:42 pm
Parallel also rushes to the port rail, draws his daggers, and attempts to smack some sense into some sailors. His reach isn't that high, so, to get their attention, he's aiming the butt of his weapons at a lower, rather sensitive region.
OOC:
if he makes contact with the first, he'll pivot and go for a second

Rolls

Dagger punch, main; non-lethal damage - (1d20+6, 1d4+4)

1d20+6 : (11) + 6 = 17

1d4+4 : (2) + 4 = 6

Dagger punch, off hand; non-lethal damage - (1d20+6, 1d4)

1d20+6 : (5) + 6 = 11

1d4 : (1) = 1

One sailor doubles over in pain and falls to the deck, groaning as he clutches something between his legs. Parallel turns and thrusts forward at a second sailor, but the man's leg moves in the way and the pommel glances off the thigh. There is a grunt from the second sailor, but his focus still appears to be at the distance.

Rhodrick rushes up to one of the crewmen still in a trance and gives him a wry smile, "Sorry 'bout this, mate." He doesn't sound that sorry. In fact, some of you may remember this particular man beating Rhod a few times dicing between watches.

He reaches out and tries to wrestle the dazed sailor to the deck.

Rolls

Grapple - Athletics Check - (1d20+4)

(16) + 4 = 20

Dec 22, 2016 3:02 am
Rhodrick successfully wraps his arms around one of the entranced crewmen, preventing the sailor from moving.
OOC:
Haesh, Jandral, and Tordek may still act. There are currently three sailors at the port railing that aren't restrained or shaken out of their charm, plus six men in the water.
Dec 22, 2016 4:02 am
OOC:
How far away from the ship are the sailors in the water?
Dec 22, 2016 4:33 am
OOC:
The sailors in the water are about 10' from the ship.
Dec 22, 2016 4:43 am
Golwen continues ringing the bell to protect those not under the spell.
OOC:
Can he use Mage Hand to slap one and see if it has any effect?
Dec 22, 2016 5:49 am
OOC:
Unfortunately, that counts as an attack, which Mage Hand cannot do.
Dec 22, 2016 6:45 am
Jandral draws his daggers, goes up behind one of the charmed sailors, and clubs the hapless fellow on the back of the head with both weapon hilts.

Seeing that his companions are working on the crew still on deck, Tordek looks over to railing to get a read on the position of the sailors. He hands his hammer and shield to one of the freed crew members. "You lose either of these and it'll be your head!" Following this, he gets a running start before hopping overboard, intending to land on one of the sailors.

Rolls

Athletics (If applicable) - (1d20+3)

(18) + 3 = 21

Acrobatics (If applicable) - (1d20+1)

(5) + 1 = 6

Dec 22, 2016 4:10 pm
The sailor in front of Jandral crumples in an unconscious heap as both pommels connect.

It is fortunate that Tordek did not spend any time donning his heavy chainmail, and he rockets off the railing and into the water like a solid stone ball of compact dwarven muscle. Tordek slams into one of the sailors, sending both underwater for a second before returning to the surface. The sailor gasps for breath and starts treading water, looking around confusedly.
OOC:
Haesh may still act. There are now two sailors on deck charmed and unrestrained, five in the water.
Dec 23, 2016 4:38 pm
Haesh steps toward the port rail and slaps one of the charmed crewmen. The sailor reels, blinking as though he has awakened from a dream.

The first mate pushes past everyone to get to the last crewman, and like before sends a backhand across the man's cheek. As with the others, this sailor staggers and holds his head, senses slowly returning.

Captain Yokgrumli takes the wheel and, unable to risk turning the ship toward the rocks, yells, "Jolly! Jolly boat!" He stabs his finger several times at the aft side of the port rail, where a small 6-person boat hangs from davits.

The sailors in the water, with the exception of the one next to Tordek, continue swimming.
OOC:
Everyone may make a perception check, as well as take another turn of actions. Rhodrick has a charmed sailor grappled on deck, but the others have finally resisted thanks to your intervention. There are five charmed men in the water now 25 feet from the boat
Dec 23, 2016 4:50 pm
Haesh takes a quick look around

Perception - (1d20+3)

Dec 23, 2016 7:21 pm
Rhod hauls back a calloused fist and swings for the subdued sailor's jaw.
OOC:
Damage would be 1+2 (Str mod), I think. If this brings the man to his senses Rhod will release his grip and move toward the ship's boat.

Unarmed strike - (1d20+4)

CancerMan sent a note to Jinn24
Rhodrick connects with his fist, but the sailor's eyes remain distant. Perhaps he could not get enough power behind the strike as Rhodrick continues to hold onto the sailor.
OOC:
Make an Athletics check to maintain the grapple
