"I'll take the third shift. G'nite." *yawn* as Parallel collapses against the base of one of the back walls.
Jun 6, 2017 4:46 pm
A large bonfire bursts into existence as Jandral invokes his arcane magic. At first, the heat seems to strengthen the stifling stench in the area, but slowly the warmth brings a measure of comfort.
OOC:
I've got two people taking watch. Will there be a third watch? Fourth?

OOC:
I think it's Tordek on first watch, Jandral on second, Parallel on third..

Nearing a minute of Jandral's concentration, the bonfire starts to die down. Before it is extinguished, someone throws in a few torches to keep the flames going, though now the fire is smaller in size and intensity.
OOC:
I'll assume one of the fighters takes fourth watch, so there are two-hour shifts.

With a few quickly exchanged whispers Rhodrick learns of how the party rallied together to protect him and drive off the grimlocks. He states his gratitude, but feels that his few words fail to express the depth of his appreciation.

Before lying down to rest, he asks to be woken for the final watch.

As you plan for an extended rest and nestle yourselves into the rocks, the silence begins to settle into the cavern.

Rhodrick is about to sleep, but something stirs within his mind.

Tordek, make a Perception check during your watch.

The cavern is quiet, save for the pop in the fire. As his companions try to get some rest, Tordek hears a shuffling noise like footfalls. It appears to be close, but it is difficult to place exactly where due to the nature of the cavern and the amplified echo of sound against the many rocks. Tordek cannot currently see anything beyond the range of his darkvision.

Tordek draws a handaxe and prepares himself if he sees another one of the creatures.
OOC:
Readying an action to throw the handaxe if I see another grimlock.
Jun 8, 2017 4:04 pm
The shuffling pauses. There is a quiet moment before a wet breathing can be heard, rattly with the sound of something stuck. A low rumbling moan, almost lost to Tordek's ears, washes into the little nook. As the fire sparks, the shuffling resumes, growing fainter until it disappears altogether.

Tordek sees and hears nothing else during the rest of his watch.
OOC:
Jandral, make a Perception check.

Time seems to slow when you only have the fire to determine changes. There is no wind, which leaves Jandral in a pocket of seemingly-stale air, but for the moment the only effect is the inconvenient smell from the damp decay in the rest of the cavern.

The fire is starting to die down. A few more torches should keep it going. However, it seems with each addition of fuel, the expanding light only serves to heighten the sense of insecurity. There is an edge to the air, and it does not help that the outermost periphery of his vision sometimes catches glimpse of something moving, though when Jandral strains his eyes, he realizes that it is the flicker of shadow behind the rocks coupled with the unmoving upside-down silhouettes of nearby bodies.

Parallel, make a Perception check.

When Parallel is awoken for his watch and briefed on the creepy feels of the cavern, he nocks an arrow and settles in for his watch, head on a swivel.

Not sure what all the fuss was about, Parallel doesn't seem to see anything moving out there...
Jun 13, 2017 4:05 pm
Parallel does not hear anything, save for the echo of settling stone through the chamber, the whisper of wind, and the crack of the fire. It appears as though something moves out at the periphery of the light, but staring at the edges shows little save for flickering shadow.
OOC:
Rhodrick, roll Perception.
Jun 15, 2017 12:44 am
Rhodrick rises stiffly, every joint groaning after his beating. He throws a few more torches on to the dying embers so he can have a little halo of light for his watch. The sailor settles back against a stalagmite facing away from the fire into the larger cavern and begins to slowly hone one of his blades as his watch begins.

The steady scrape of stone against metal echoes softly, counterposed by the random spark of the fire. Rhodrick's eyes adjust to the flickering shadows caused by the light, and he sees little beyond in the darkness.

Nothing disturbs the remainder of the long rest, save for the memory of the gruesome display of carnage in the cavern.
OOC:
You have rested and recovered. What do you wish to do now?
Jun 16, 2017 7:21 am
Waking up groggily, Haesh rolls onto his side and gathers up his belongings. "Thanks for taking the watch boys. I take it we had no visits."

He lights up one of his torches and starts to walk towards the edge of the camp. He peers into the gruesome scene to see if there is anything of note.
