The bodies of the slain grimlocks are gone.

Popping up and gathering his belongings, Parallel feels just a resolute as he did last night that they need to press on to see if there are any survivors -- or more Grimlocks that need to be eliminated.

"Let's press on, boys." He grabs a torch off the fire and scouts ahead toward the back tunnel.

The caverns extend westward a bit, angling towards the north while entering a decline. Here the footing is precarious, but not impassable; you know your progress would be slowed as you would need to find purchase during your descent.

As the slope drops downward, it splits briefly around a column of stone before leveling out into flatter terrain beyond. This is a natural formation, but hung around it like a beaded curtain are dozens of humanoid skulls, strung together with twine through the eye sockets.

Rhod gathers up his pack and glances at the rest of the party to make sure they are rousing. He sets off to follow Parallel towards the western passage.

When he finds the halfling studying the slope to the northwest, Rhodrick gives him a wink, "Don' worry mate, I'll take the first go!" With that he begins a haphazard descent.

Jandral follows after the nimble halfling, but loses his footing and slips and slides noisily down the slope and ends up on his hands and knees with a clatter that echoes through the cavern.

And loses his mask.

Tordek follows after the rest of the group. Unsurprisingly, with his short legs and heavy armor, he loses his footing and tumbles down after Jandral.

Picking yourselves up and dusting off the dirt and slick humidity, you proceed further into the cavern. The passageway beyond the skull-adorned pillar extends for another 80 feet, the ground clear of any clutter save for the stalagmites breaking the monotony. You notice that while the ground sloped steeply downward, the ceiling remained level to give this chamber a spacious interior; the probable cause of the echoing clamor your tumble provided.

There is a small, narrow tunnel that heads eastward approximately 50 feet before turning north again. The space is only enough to allow passage one person at a time, and even the ceiling hangs low to cause the average human to stoop.

After his tumble down the slope Naozar fumbles on the ground to reclaim his mask. He puts it back on and becomes Jandral again. Fortunately, none of the others seem to have noticed anything amiss. There's no telling how any of them might react if they learned of his true identity and his draconic lineage. After all, isn't the point of all this the overthrow of their dragon overlords?

Jandral peers down the east tunnel but waits for one of the beefier ones to lead the way.
OOC:
What light sources are down here? Jandral isn't the only one with darkvision, is he?

OOC:
Parallel has a torch. Jandral and Tordek have darkvision. The cave itself does not have any other light source.

Jandral does not see anything out of the ordinary. There is the expected rock tunnel, probably carved out through natural forces of water or the movement of the earth.

"Well looks like there is but one way forward. I'll go first."

Haesh lights a torch and begins moving towards the tunnel. He approaches the tunnel intending to lead the party forward.

Haesh steps into the tunnel, torch in hand. There are some large stones sitting in a layer of dirt, forming a narrower path that weaves through the crevasse.

Halfway through, the sailor's eyes catch sight of something small and thin strung between two stones, further up the tunnel just before the exit. It extends horizontally in the space about 3 inches off the ground, and spans a distance of 2 feet.

Parallel slinks close behind. Seeing Haesh's hesitation he asks, "What do you see?"
Jun 25, 2017 6:26 am
"Oi, looks like there be a trap ahead of us. Tell the others to be careful not to trip on it." Haesh whispers back to the companion immediately behind him. He gets down low to the device and points it out for the others to see.

He steps over the supposed trap and attempts to take a quick look out the exit.

Beyond the tunnel, the cavern opens up again to a high ceiling. As Haesh's eyes adjust to the torchlight, he can make out a net made of vines and sinew holding several large stones. This is hung from the ceiling, above the entrance to the smaller tunnel.
