"Well I'll be..." Haesh says while looking up at the net of stones. "You boys be lucky I've got my head screwed on right! Don't forget to thank me!"

He leads the rest of the group out of the narrow passage and into the open chamber.

"Let's press on, eh?"

Parallel points out the mechanism to all behind him and carefully proceeds.
Jun 28, 2017 4:24 pm
Jandral follows closely behind Parallel, carefully avoiding the tripwire pointed out by the halfling.
Jun 28, 2017 4:49 pm
The group finds themselves at a juncture in the cavern system, with widened passages leading in two different directions. The ceiling here is just as tall as the previous chamber, lending an emptiness to the area beyond the limits of your light.

There is no sound nor movement in either direction. The air is still heavy with musk and stale odor, but perhaps you are used to the smell by now.
OOC:
Which way do you proceed?

"Looks like 2 ways to go..." Haesh looks back and forth between his choices. "I usually go left when I have a choice, so lets go left!"

He starts heading towards the left tunnel.
Jun 29, 2017 1:29 pm
Parallel posits for just a moment before following Haesh and tosses a bag of caltrops in the middle of the night passage.

"If we come back to this tunnel, walk along the walls if you value your feet."

He then follows down the left.
Jun 30, 2017 6:35 pm
The tunnel westward enters into a small chamber before hooking sharply northward.

The circular chamber is approximately 40 feet in diameter, and unlike the natural formation of the tunnels, appears to have been crudely chiseled into existence. A large fire pit is in the center, and the floor is even with several patches of reeds and furs scattered around. The air is dank with musk.

There is no fire burning, but a casual glance reveals remnants of timber settled within the pit. The top surface is cold, but some warmth can be found beneath the ashes. Whatever flames were here have either died or been extinguished for a few hours, at least.

As long as he can stand the smell, Parallel will begin turning the room over, looking under furs, reed mats, etc., looking for any stolen items that may be hidden underneath, or in any cubby holes.

There are a variety of primitive tools like stone adzes and hammers, plus short coils of twine and bits of bone shards. Parallel finds an axe with a steel blade and shaped wood handle, strikingly advanced compared to the rest.

There isn't anything underneath any of the mats.

As the halfling tosses the foul bunks, Rhodrick uses the brief pause to slip up to where Jandral is standing. He is still a half step behind the sorcerer when he leans over his left shoulder and murmurs, "When we see our way clear of this, friend, we have some things to parley over."

Rhod steps away without waiting for a response. His face remains impassive as he glances up and down the tunnel and waits for the signal to move on.
Jul 3, 2017 1:10 am
Jandral arches an eyebrow under his mask. What was that about? Did Rhod see his face unmasked after all? He'll have to watch himself around that one.
Jul 3, 2017 1:44 pm
Parallel stowes the axe, thinking it may belong to the village outside, and rejoins Haesh at point.
Jul 3, 2017 5:00 pm
Heading north, the party finds themselves at a crossroads of tunnels. There is a large chamber to the west, which extends northward. A narrower tunnel is before them, also heading northward. The cavern to the east seems to venture off into darkness, but does rejoin the other passage the party saw previously.
OOC:
Map. Yellow star is the party's current location. Which way do you wish to go, or what do you wish to do?
Jul 7, 2017 5:40 pm
Rhod signals to Parallel and Haesh to move towards the larger northwestern chamber. He follows slowly, and pauses often to look for any signs of their foes encircling them from the eastern passages.

Make a Perception check.

Rhod scans the darkness.

Rhodrick can hear the scrape of feet against stone, the brush of cloth against body, and a faint low murmur barely perceptible to his ears. It sounds from up ahead at the very edges of the chamber, as well as behind the party to the east.

Several things are moving, and they are all around.

"'Ware! Something moves in the shadows, fore and aft. Let's pick our ground and not get swarmed again."

The fighter draws his blades and they rasp a hungry whisper against the leather.
Jul 8, 2017 1:30 am
"We cannot let them cut off our exit route -- I say we charge the ones behind us! Somebody light this place up!!"

Arrow nocked, he halts his advance as he searches for his first target.
