OOC:
As much as it pains me, Golwen does not see any target to cast Fire Bolt at. The harpy has gone behind the spire and is out of view. The reports of a second harpy was given by Rhevia, who is above the spire 90 feet north of you, and she saw something 120 feet away from there.

OOC:
Ha! Fair enough :)
Jan 13, 2017 5:26 pm
OOC:
Golwen, another option if you feel like you don't want to waste the critical, is to target the sailor that's swimming to the spire.

Totally up to you, of course. Your action is yours to decide!
Jan 13, 2017 10:06 pm
OOC:
I'd rather not lob fire at one of our friends, even to snap him out of the trance.
Jan 15, 2017 3:09 am
Haesh is still ringing the bell to help ward the other crewmen. He continues to keep an eye out for further trouble...

Rolls

Perception - (1d20+3)

When the foul creature disappears behind the spire, Rhodrick stows his bow and appraises the situation. He quickly sees Tordek's predicament and scrambles for a solution.

He spies one of the boat's lines and makes sure one end is secured onboard. He tosses the rest of the coil as far as he can over the dwarf's head.

"Secure yourself and don't let go of that sot! Give us a shout and we'll heave back to the Cutter!"

OOC:
Can I get a count of who is where? I think I'm moscounting the sailors.
Jan 17, 2017 5:00 am
Haesh does not see anything else, though he is able to see the rocky spire now that there are flaming arrows upon it.
OOC:
Golwen, Jandral, Parallel, Rhodrick, and two sailors are inside the jolly boat. Two more sailors are swimming back to the Red Cutter.

As for charmed sailors, Tordek has one in his grasp, in the water. The last one is swimming towards the spire.

Not seeing any meaningful way he can contribute to ending the terrible song, Golwen casts about for a way to be useful. Not being close enough to wallop the charmed sailor, he grabs an oar ready to either retreat to the Cutter or manoeuvre into a better position from which to assail the hideous creatures ahead.
Jan 17, 2017 6:46 pm
The crew of the Red Cutter lower netting to allow their shipmates a chance to climb aboard.

The sailor in Tordek's grasp struggles to free himself (Athletics 3).
OOC:
Tordek, make an Athletics check if you want to maintain the grapple.
The charmed sailor continues swimming as fast as he can. He is helped along somewhat by the movement of the water, almost urging him towards the sharp rocks. Suddenly a freak wave surges upward, carrying the man into the dagger-like protrusions. He screams as the rocks tear into his flesh, as though waking from a terrible and suddenly real nightmare.

This appears to be the opportunity the harpy was waiting for. With a screech, she swings around the spire and lashes out with her claws and a large club. However, not wanting to get caught in the same waves that dashed the poor sailor against the rocks, the harpy finds herself just out of reach and misses with her attacks.

Amidst the chaos, another enchanting song begins to play over the crashing waves. It sounds distant, yet is still audible. It tugs at your senses and seeks to entrap your attentions.
CancerMan sent a note to Tsavo
OOC:
Everyone roll a Wisdom save (DC 11), with advantage thanks to Haesh's single-note rendition of Jingle Bell Rock.
Jan 17, 2017 6:58 pm
There! The harpy dares show itself again! Jandral tries to keep his wits about him as another song floats across the water.

Jan 17, 2017 7:25 pm
OOC:
Forgot to add, if you make the save, you can act this turn.
Jan 17, 2017 7:36 pm
Tordek manages to restrain the sailor and starts swimming with him back toward the ship. "You all go ahead. I'm not much help down here right now."
OOC:
Grapple should be a +3, but it still passes.

The elf points northward behind the spire, then Golwen's eyes glaze over as he feels the strong urge to see the second harpy for himself, going so far as to dive overboard to swim as fast as he can toward the currently-unseen creature.
OOC:
Anyone except Jandral and Tordek can take an Opportunity Attack if they'd like. Otherwise, Golwen's going into the water!
Jan 17, 2017 9:59 pm
