Personal and party gear

a space to record personal and party gear in a bit more detail.

I’ve added this equipment thread for those (like me) who are a bit more interested in specifying gear. Starting with a list of ‘standard’ gear so players can focus on more particular, signature items.

If you are not interested, that’s fine—i’ll assume possession of the gear listed in the first post plus the key items listed on your character sheet. Otherwise please provide a post that indicates any additions/ variations to my list for your character.

Let me know if you think anything’s missing from the ‘standard’ lists (maybe I’m overlooking items ubiquitous in the ‘20s ).

I'm including the Credit Rating table from the main rulebook to give a clear sense of what your character can likely afford.

I figure that a standard investigator wearing 20s gear will be walking around with the following as a minimum:

Clothing
Suit, shoes, hat (of course), maybe a ring, brooch or hairpin.
Coat, depending on season.

Personal Gear
set of keys
pen
matches
cigarette case
comb
penknife
Pocketbook with cash, family photo, business cards, aspirins.
If your character carries a purse (handbag), this may have make-up, brush, candy bar.

Quality of items varies by CR.

Automobile: If the character also owns a machine, this might also carry:
handcrank, oil, other car accessories
flashlight
rope (for towing, primarily)
water, snacks
blanket
simple first aid kit
firearm if your character can shoot

I’d also be interested to learn about your estate if you can be bothered: whether you own a house, business, farm, etc. Whether you have staff or colleagues who can help out.

Or even note your ‘look’ as I know a lot of players enjoy the 1920s setting for sartorial reasons.

Melody Fitzjohn-Barnes

the Fitzjohn-Barnes (credit rating 6) own a mansion in the hills outside Arkham (The Willows, or 'Good Ol' Wills'), as well as a smaller house in town ('the Pad'). The Mansion is manned by domestics and cooks, with Roderick as majordomo. Possibly, a couple of hunting rifles are kept under lock at the Mansion, from when Melody's father used to take his daughter hare-hunting.
In the stables of The Willows, a few horses are kept, including Melody's favourite, Wilhelmina.

Jasper, Melody's younger brother, rents a bachelor apartment in town ('the Den'), near the Theatre district.

The larger mansion has a library, not very up-to-date, and quite mundane. Most books come from her parents' collection. She started reading up on the Occult, but the volumes she gathered are recent publications, for the general public (ie, no Mythos tomes).

Melody would own items accumulated in her various, short-lived 'fads': easels, paints, sculpting materials for her Artistic phase, a full darkroom and camera for her Photo phase, a Telescope, etc. - as well as handbooks/texts about each discipline.

Professor Gwen Warren

Emma--or Professor Warren for her students--is an early to mid-career professor, and so she lives relatively comfortably, but she is not bourgeois like a department chair or famous tenured professor might be. She has a Credit Rating of 4, a Ford Model T from a year prior, and a ,modest apartment near campus. She owns a nice, expensive typewriter at home and has a small, portable one in her campus office. She also carries a Smith & Wesson .38 special, snub nose, which she keeps in her purse--for personal defense, naturally. She lives alone with her cat, Cleopatra.

You do not have permission to post in this thread.
