Mathias shrugs, "We're looking for help, is all."

Gloria startles the group by reappearing as they near the Society building, jumping in between them from a rooftop.
"Had fun exploring?" Michel asks as he scratches her behind the ears after he recovers.

He spends a few moments admiring the Society's magical bouncers. "These guys don't mess around, do they?"

After introducing himself and Gloria to the receptionist, he explains, "See, we're not from this world, or dimension, or plane or whatever, we got transported here against our will. And that sort of thing doesn't even exist where we come from. And to make things more complicated, we all seem to have some vestigial that don't seem to belong to us."

"Another world, is it?" the clerk asks with a raised eyebrow. "Well, that's certainly an intriguing story. Wait here a moment."

The man ducks into the building proper. After several minutes, he returns with a beckoning gesture. "The Venture-Captain wishes to speak with you. Follow me, please."

Inside the lodge, you can see a dozen or so people dressed like adventurers. Some are relaxing with drinks in hand, others are poring over maps and tomes in a large library. The clerk leads you into an office adorned with numerous art objects and curios. Behind the desk is a woman with gently pointed ears like Michel's. She greets you and bids you to have a seat in one of several chairs arranged before her desk.

"I am Venture-Captain Aurora Steelbloom," she says. "My clerk tells me you claim to have been brought here from another world? I'll admit that you've piqued my curiosity. Please, tell me more."

"Uh, Greetings, Venture-Captain. I'm Mathias. I guess, to start, we don't have much of an idea where we are. We know only what we've been told about this city over the last few days, and seeing it now, but these lands are nothing like where we came from, at all. Everything is different. I'm confident this world, Golarion I believe I heard it called, is not the same world we came from...I just don't know what that means exactly. Have you heard of anything like this happening before?"
May 6, 2025 11:03 am
Aurora nods. "Yes, actually. This isn't the first time something like this has happened," she says. "The Pathfinder Chronicles contain a few tales of visitors who have come to Golarion from other places, be they different planets or even completely different planes of existence. It's rare, but not unheard of. Can you tell me more about your world of origin?"
May 6, 2025 1:59 pm
Rone raised his eyebrows at what he heard from the Venture-Captain, "Well, our world from where we have come is similar regarding the geography and weather but vastly different in other cases. This might be difficult to explain, but the state of things like normal instruments and technology that we have seen uptill now is something that was present in our world quite sometime back. Technology wise, our world is much more advanced, it seems, but we haven't seen the entirety of Golarion. However, other differences exist like in our world only humans are present. We can see many sentient species here. Also, one complete difference that separates our world from Golarion is the absolute absence of magic. We don't have magic back in our world. I mean, we fantasize about it, but there is no one who can cast magic."

Eugene nods as Rone and Matthias feed the Venture-Captain the information they seek. "So do your Chronicles ever mention how those who came to your world returned to theirs?"
May 7, 2025 8:57 am
Michel fills in some information the others have glossed over.
"We didn't know each other before. We were all from very different parts of our world. We all have been changed too. Rone mentioned our world only has human ancestries, and we're no different. This is my face, more or less, but this is not my body... Hang on, I think I can show you..."

He digs into his backpack and takes out his phone. "It takes a minute or so to start up... these devices are common enough on our world that most people have at least one. They're used for communication with similar devices and storing information... Here, got it."
He hands the captain his phone, showing a picture of a much frailer looking, human version of himself with a much smaller version of Gloria in his lap.

Aurora's eyebrows lift when she sees Michel's phone. "Fascinating. This looks like one of the technological wonders that have been unearthed in Numeria." Seeing your blank expressions, she elaborates. "Numeria is a land far to the north and east of here. Millenia ago, what we believe was a starfaring craft from another distant planet crashed into the wastes there. Ever since then, the natives and explorers have uncovered items and beings with far greater technology than anything we have yet to develop on Golarion."

She looks to Eugene. "Most visitors who come here via their own power also possess the means to return to their worlds and planes of origin. But your situation seems to be different than that. Something else brought you here. I think by first determining what that was and the purpose of your arrival here may be the first steps in figuring out how to get you back to your homes. It sounds like an adventure-in-the-making worthy of the Chronicles!"
May 8, 2025 12:24 pm
Rone's eyes lit up at the mention of Numeria's starfaring craft, "Did you say starfaring craft? That seems more advanced than our current technology. The most we achieved was to send probes to our neighboring planet and our moon. We achieved only one moon landing but never became starfaring." He paused but then continued, "Also, something of note: when we arrived here, we were standing in front of an archway with glowing runes. Also, there was a granite obelisk in front of that structure."

Mathias runs his hand through his hair. "Still, the fact others have come here before, from other far-off places, is somewhat promising, if you're saying many of them were able to get home." He sighs, "Any leads we can find would be good. Until then, I'm afraid we don't have much knowledge of this city...or your world. Is there anything we can do to be of service to your organization, in exchange for any further assistance you can provide? I'm afraid we don't have much of a clue where to look to figure out what brought us here."

"Aurora..." Eugene's tone changes to something more solemn as his piercing blue eyes stared intensely into hers, "...I have a family, and assuming this is happening in parallel time wise, and is not in fact a hallucination, I have been missing for several days. I need to get back to them. Any help you can provide, I would be greatly appreciative of." he looked down at the ground as the weight of his current predicament overtook all the emotional walls he had, tears began to well at the corner of his eyes as he thought of his wife and children, "I will do anything to get back to them..."
May 14, 2025 12:27 pm
"An archway an obelisk? Intriguing," Aurora says. "If you can tell me where it is, I'll send a team of agents to investigate it further. Maybe we can learn some clues as to its origin and purpose. And as a means of repayment, I do believe we have some tasks around the city that you can help us with."

She sifts through some papers on her desk, eventually pulling forth a piece of parchment emblazoned with the emblem of a golden set of scales. "Ah, here we are. This is a promissory note from the bank of Abadar. There's a merchant in the Nighstalls by the name of Palhuna Murqual. He's recently acquired a collection that the Pathfinder Society is interested in purchasing: the Monadistic Archive, a collection of scrolls from the Jistkan Imperium. The note should cover his asking price, but Murqual is crafty and may bargain for more. I can’t pay more gold than I already have offered, but if you can find other means of appeasing Murqual, I encourage you to do so. Do you have any questions?"
May 15, 2025 5:37 am
Mathias shakes his head, reaching and taking the promissory note and tucking it away safely. "I don't think so. Meet with the merchant, and obtain these scrolls for you, the Monadistic Archive. We'll see it done. Thank you."
May 15, 2025 8:07 am
Rone nodded to Aurora, "Sure. Let's find this merchant and get the scroll. But before the transaction, we need to know more about him." He then turned to Eugene and rested his hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry, we will return, and you will get back to your family again."

Michel makes a mental note of visiting this 'Numeria' is he gets the opportunity.
"The obelisk is just on the edge of Finderplain, not even a mile from the town." Michel replies to the venture-captain's question.

He stays silent, lost in thought and conflicted. He sympathises with Eugene's plight, but the longer he's been here, the more he feels like not going back at all.

But whatever he decides, he'll stick with the others and at least help them get back.

"Palhuna Murqual is known as one of the preeminent vendors of local antiquities, both magical and mundane. He's had some recent legal troubles lately, though, and rumor is he's looking for agents to get a few things done. You may be able to leverage that to your advantage."
Finding Murqual’s shop is easy enough. A few inquiries lead you to the Lower City of Katapesh, the largest and most densely populated section of the city. The Lower City contains the city’s sprawling docks and possibly the world’s largest bazaar—a collection of kiosks, tents, huts, carts, or simply rugs on open spaces of ground displaying a few odds and ends. The Lower City Bazaar stretches the entire length of the city, and nearly anything can be bought or sold there.

His establishment defies the stereotype for a shop in the infamous Nightstalls. It boasts a permanent location, instead of one that could be broken down and moved with ease. It is quite lavishly appointed, rather than being a shadowy, smoky hovel, and the air smells of vanilla and cardamom rather than incense. Inside, deep carpeting covers the floor. All sorts of curios and knickknacks adorn the shelves around the shop. A slim young man stands behind the counter, holding a ledger.

He gives you a slight bow as you enter. "Welcome. I am Palhuna Murqual. Have you come for business, or would you just like to browse?"
May 21, 2025 1:46 pm
Rone smiled amicably and bowed, "Greetings, I am Rone Kanterine, a traveler and a visitor to the esteemed city of Katapesh. Master Murqual is it? Your establishment seems very sophisticated, and I would love to do business, but before that, can you show me your best wares?"
May 27, 2025 7:51 am
"Greetings, Master Murqual," Mathias says, lending his voice to Rone's. "I will browse as well, for the sake of curiosity, but we do have a matter of business to discuss after."
May 27, 2025 11:48 am
Murqual happily shows you some of his wares, including an elaborate clockwork owl, a glass orb that appears to have a miniature electric storm trapped within it, and a gleaming scimitar with a blade seemingly made of solid gold. All of the items, unfortunately, cost much more than you can afford at this point in time.

"Now, what is this business you have come to speak of?" Murqual asks curiously once the tour is complete.
