The power of the Right has been bourgeoning for the past few decades all over the planet, bringing with it a new confidence in its mission of "natural hierarchies" and filling with new energy its fascist tools.

However, there are those few who seek to blunt and smash those iron points, to burn out this cancer wherever it seeks to burst out from the skin of the world.

These are you: The New Internationals . . . !

Hi, Folks!

This is an idea of mine for a relatively "straightforward" kind of "mission-oriented, shoot-em-up" game (although I don't have a problem with it changing into something more character driven) involving fighting against fascists and their organizations. It would be contemporary (although names would likely be changed), but I'm undecided on how realistic it would be eg whether or not actual magic would be a real thing.

For a system, I'm leaning strongly towards Alternity, mainly because I have the books and a basic familiarity with the system and am interested in using the kind of "graduated" skill-success system it has (without it getting too "colourful" eg Marvel FASERIP). However, I very much believe in the random-generation of attribute stats, so I'd use the system for it that Alternity provides.

Group size would have to be small; this could be anywhere from one to six players, each with one PC (maybe more; I don't normally allow that in my games, but, given how often violence would be a part of this game and how relatively "non-simple" character creation is, I wouldn't be averse to multiple PCs so everyone would always be able to get back into the action relatively quickly).

Posting speed would tend to be on the slow and erratic side (for me, at least: I've already got one PbP game, and I've found it more difficult and tiring as I've gotten older to GM regularly and have a life, too).

Questions? Takers?

I would love to play. Alternity was the first system I ever played, though haven't touched it this side of the century.

OK, that makes one.
Let's see if anyone else is interested . . . .

The premise is intriguing but I’m not familiar with the system.

Same. Good luck with this, if the forums are public I'll make sure to read up some stuff.

The system isn't that difficult: it's just a matter of rolling a couple of dice (normally), a d20 and another one (depending on how easy or difficult the action is), and trying to roll lower than a stat or skill score. I certainly don't mind newbies taking part.

Here's a quick-play summary of the rules:

Should I consider either or both of you, Delta and Dark_RaideR, as in?

I'll have to pass unfortunately, I'm at capacity playing/running games. But I will be reading when I have a moment.

Pass as well, don't have the mental bandwidth to start mastering a new system.

Okeedoke!

I'll leave this post up until May 9th before starting to set the game up. After that, people can come in when the plot permits.

I'll give it a try, taking out fascists' is never a bad thing!

Great!
Now that two people are interested, we can talk about how realistic it will be as I'm still on the fence.
Thots, Furmyr? Kaneda-san?

Oh I'm not sure! I was thinking a futuristic setting would be pretty cool, give us some neat tools to use. But if we wanted to go more of a fantasy route I'm ok with that too!
