Sera nods and says, "That's smart. Maybe a related alternative... We launch all the escape Pods, get on none of them, and remain hidden on the space station for a short while. Once at least some of the clones launch to chase after the pods, we steal a ship with hyperspace capabilities and end this hunt. I worry about being stranded on a strange planet, with clones coming down to find us..."

I like that idea, much more than going to an unknown planet

Voss looks at her mechanical hand, slowly opening and closing it.
Where did this arm come from? It looks and feels like an industrial droid arm, not a real prothesis.

Brenya rolled onto her back, panting. She blinked up at the ceiling of the corridor like it was some kind of miracle. Out. Cramped, bruised, filthy—but out. She let out a soft, wheezy laugh. "Well den," she muttered, "that was very much not the fun tunnel ride."

She pulled herself to her feet, knees cracking in protest, and looked toward the rows of rounded pod doors. Taryn and Sera were already talking tactics. Both ideas made sense, but only one felt right.

"Yousa got it," Brenya said, nodding toward Sera. "I prefer da ship, too. Clones’ll be lookin’ to chase quick—if we’sa stay behind, hide a bit, maybe sneak off quiet-quiet… we’sa got better odds. Hyperdrive’sa better than hopin’ a pod lands us somewhere without more blaster boys."

At Voss’s question, Brenya glanced down at the mechanical arm, and her face softened with guilt — not sorrow, just honest weight. "Yeah… issa droid arm," she said quietly. "Industrial type. Cargo lifter, I think. Was what I could grab when we’sa runnin’. No clinics, no time. Yousa bleedin’ out and I’sa just—" She shrugged, suddenly self-conscious. "Just needed to stop the leakin’. We fix it proper, later. Me hope."

Taryn nods "That is actually a very good idea. But I sure hope one of you knows how to fly such a ship. If any of you can, then I agree. We cause a distraction with the pods and take our self a way off this station."

"I can fly, but this arm is very powerful. I just as easy break a switch as flip it." Voss points to a glass touch screen she just operated that now has a crack in it.

Left-handed or very carefully piloting was all that she could offer right now. She had been the pilot of her and her masters small ship, their home away from home.
"But between us we can fly, I'm sure of it"
May 29, 2025 1:03 am
Brenya perked up, ears lifting with sudden enthusiasm. "Ooooh, mesa can shoot," she said, grin spreading wide across her face. She mimed gripping turret controls, making low, throaty blaster noises with her mouth—choom-choom-choom. "Put me in a belly gun or turret pod, and I’sa lightin’ up the stars. Boom! Like fireworks but with purpose."

Sera nods and adds, "Sure, I can pilot, but I'm not great. I'd be better keeping the thing running than flying it."

She looks over at Voss experimenting with her new droid parts and says, "Lemme know if you want any adjustments to those, ok?"

"Great," Tayn says. "We have a gunner and engineer" she looks at Brenya and Sera who offered these roles for a moment. "Like you," she tells Voss, "I only know how to fly smaller ships, like two person starfighters. But we'll figure it out together. You can be my co-pilot, and I can handle the switch flipping."

Taryn stands a bit taller now. Now that they have a plan a bit of her natural arrogance, pride and command returns to her. She feels it to be her job and responcibilty to get everyone out of here...

For a moment she can see a bit of victory, as they all fly out on a ship. But then, they'll still have to figure out what is going on with the clones.

Eventually, the maintenance tunnel leads to a larger room--a ventilation hub and electrical access area. Sera was bringing up the rear, but once there, she closes her eyes, communes with the room full of machines around her, and says, "OK, it's this way."

She then leads the group through a labyrinth of tunnels, some wide, others narrow, and still others requiring they crawl again. Finally, they emerge in a small disused space, filled with the hum of machines, as well as the occasional thud and whoosh of space craft coming and going somewhere nearby. Sera turns to the others and says, "We are close to the generators for the station. From here, I can override the escape pod controls and launch them remotely, then, after a while, we can head through that access panel to the hangar and steal a ship. Hopefully. Just give me a moment..." She points to a seemingly blank wall when she mentions an access panel, and then she places both hands on a large bundle of wires and closes her eyes.

In her mind, Sera feels the form and purpose of this power grid. She extends her mind out along it, dancing across the vestiges of intention. There was the intention of the designer, making blueprints and holo models. Then there was the purpose and goals of the laborers, the men and women who worked to build the station. And finally there is the uses and intentions of the station residents today, accessing and manipulating power and systems for their own ends. Sera senses all of this, laid out in a grid, and she follows the threads until her mind arrives at the escape pods themselves, currently drawing small amounts of power to maintain their own internal systems and power backups. This is further than she has ever extended herself into a system like this, but she pushes on, leaving her feeling as though she is being stretched very thin over a great distance, but she perseveres. She presses her mind across the power coupling into the escape pods, identifies the navigation system and launch mechanisms, and powers them up. She enters a variety of coordinates for the navigation, mostly on different parts of the nearby planet, but a few at a local moon, and one straight out into deep space. Finally, she activates the internal sensors, hacking them to read as if there are one or two living beings within each one. Then, finally, she triggers their launches, almost simultaneously, as if their occupants had coordinated their launch to increase their odds of escape.

Finally, she draws her mind back toward herself, reeling it in like a fishing line, until se finally finds herself in her body once more. Her eyes open, her hand release, her knees buckle, and she passes out.

When the first whump of an escape pod launching echoed through the floor, Brenya grinned. The second thump made her whoop quietly, a fist pumping in the air. "Ooooh, girl, yousa doin’ it. Yousa really doin’ it!"

But then Sera swayed. Brenya’s grin faded. When she collapsed, Brenya sprang forward like she'd been yanked by a cord.

"Woah-woah-woah, nonononono—Sera!" she cried, catching her just before her head hit the ground. "C’mon, yousa still wit’ us, yeah?" She cradled the Mirialan’s head in her lap, gently patting her cheek.

She glanced up at the others, serious now. "She’sa burned her mind pushin’ da wires like dat. She done saved our butts with that brain—now let’s not waste it, okieday?"

Brenya’s arms slipped beneath Sera with surprising gentleness.

"Up we go, sleepy slicer," she murmured, trying to keep it light. "She be out, but breathin’ fine. Let’s keep movin’. We’sa close, yeah?"

Voss takes Sera from Brenya. Let me carry her, she will not slow me down. We got to get to the hanger now.
Voss takes a bit of comfort and joy in being able to lift a heavy load without effort. So fare her limbs have been a hindrance, but here she found something positive.

All the ships you sense are currently leaving, people are fleeing the gunfight via any other means since they can find.

Findal was still planning on finding the right time to voice his concern about leaving the station without escape pods in the event of an emergency, but was not sure how to address this or whether it mattered. He has not expected it to happen so soon.

Jedi Master Dinn tried, on many occasions, to impart upon you the importance of not using the force for every-day actions, to first use 'mundane' means to achieve a goal —like hacking an escape pod system— but it seems his teaching were lost on you, and he never had high hopes in that regard, anyway.

Maybe he had a point? Your mind is overwhelmed by the task, but it would have taken ages to do this manually.

You will need to rely on your companions for a while. Voss' big mechanical arm is not soft, but it is oddly comforting.

Between you, you carry the passed out body of Sera to the hanger bay entrance. The clones have definitely noticed the near-simultaneous launch of all the pods and are scrambling to make a plan to deal with the situation.

A large contingent rush for their ship, a few more take your own idea and hijack a couple of other ships from the locals, intent on pursuing the pods. There is a lot of shouting, threatening, and running about.

Some clones are ordered to stay behind and keep searching and keep watch, you are still vastly outnumber, but the organisation is wanting. There are likely to be gaps in their net, especially if you move fast. But those in and around he hangar may thin out as they head for other duties.

You see a clone shoot a man who is trying to load his family into a shuttle to get away from the action, his family scatter and the clone takes the shuttle for his small group.

"We have to do something." Findal says, seeing this, though what exactly he thinks you can do is not clear.

What do you do?

We are Findal! We are trying to survive this chaos. We can't do that charging in. This is clearly planned and coordinated, and we are not up for an offensive.

Voss looks around in the hangar and spots a ship.
Is that the Mulberry? My master and I caught the smuggler on our previous mission, and he is still in jail. The keypad don't work, I remember that he had to hotwire it to open the. If nothing else, we can hide in a ship everyone thinks is locked
The ship is a light transport vessel that has seen better days. But if Voss is correct that this is a smuggler's ship, the roughed look might be a cunning disguise.
