They're much smaller then that colossal beast you fought earlier.Their essentially minions so you can hit all of them with the attack, but they did pass the save.

As the moonlight dissipates, Tosti walks towards to body in order to inspect it.

The corpse is that of a knight, you find on the corpse an iron wooden lump with a tree-light insignia.

Tosti rolls the body face-up to get a better look, and inspects the wooden lump.

Tosti takes the holy symbol, and investigates for any clues as to what the knight was doing out in the forest or what had led to his death.

It's unclear what the night was doing out here, but it is clear that he was killed by those viney creatures.

Tosti lights some incense, and says a prayer for his fallen comrade.

It's Zisa's will. Return to Tyr's light, borther.

Afterwards Tosti will continue his trek to the center of the forest, keeping an eye out for more vine creatures.

The forest grows more dark and unruly as you continue towards the center. Ahead you see a clearing, guarded by two hollows wearing the same armour as the dead knight you passed. the interior of the clearing is obscured by a thick fog.

Tosti regrets fighting other members of the Order, but knows that they'd rather not remain as hollows. He decides to test out his new javelin, and chucks in at the hollowed knights. He aims aims it in a way to hit both hollows with the lightning, and the rear hollow with the actual javelin.

The knight that you had stuck with the lance raises a oaken staff and is surrounded with grean energy that takes on the mantle of wooden armour, the other channels a similar energy into it's staff and charges you, landing a powerful blow that hurts even through your armor.
