OOC:
The main issue was going to be the fact that estus was already a good emergency heal, using an estus was a bonus action. The main reason your getting extra heals of them is that you spend an action to use this power so you need to be getting a benefit from spending a bigger action and a flask. But anyway roll the new heal and lets jump back in.

Feeling refresh, I steel my nerves, and step through the misty barrier.
OOC:
I'm happy saving the psi points and rolling with what we've got.

The courtyard beyond the gate is guarded by a powerful looking knight whose armour is themes around a hunting cat. It wields a skimmitar in one hand a chain with a claw at the end of it in the other.
OOC:

I ready myself for an intense battle...
OOC:
What does the courtyard look like? Just clear space between walls, or is there any debris / ledges or other features?

The courtyard is essentially featureless, though around the left and right sides there is a 10 foot overhanging roof.
Feb 4, 2017 4:31 pm
I charge the foe, spear out, focussing on defence, and drive my weapon towards the knight's midsection. As the weapon sinks in, I unleash a surge of psionic energy, as much as I can muster, through the tip of the blade.
OOC:
AC: 20 (17 Armor, +2 Shield, +1 Iron Durability)
HP: 32/38, 2 THP
Psi Points: 12/27 (-5 Psi Weapon)

Bonus: Psi Focus to Iron Durability
Move: Move
Action: Attack!

Crit! -- I like to roll more dice, so added another set of die rolls. -- total of 15 Damage + 66 Psychic Damage = 81 damage.

Though the blow was powerful your opponent remains. It lunges at you with it's scimitar while trying to strike at you with the claw. But you skillfully avoid both strikes.

Rolls

Blade, Claw - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (5) + 5 = 10

1d20+5 : (4) + 5 = 9

I step around and between the attacks, striking at it again with my spear.

Your spear finds your opponents flesh but only barely, giving it the opportunity to disengage with you and then leap at you claw chain swinging, though with the move so clearly telegraphed you avoid it with ease.

Rolls

Claws - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (3) + 5 = 8

1d20+5 : (4) + 5 = 9

Stepping around it's leaping attack I plant my spear then drive it upwards towards its chest. As the spear tip hits its mark, I release another surge of psionic energy.

Your blow staggers your foe, for a second you think it might be over, but it mounts one more desperate assault, which fails to break your defenses.

I avoid the knight's attack, and strike out with me spear as I circle around it. If the spear tip finds its mark again, I push another surge of psionic energy into it.

You drive your spear through the knight and take the full wight of the body for a moment as it turns to ash. You absorb the soul of the Mahjim the Gate-Warden, on the ground where the figure stood is it's chain.
OOC:
Mahjim's chain is a whip except it does 1d8 for damage.
The court yard has two additional exits; a ladder around the side of the gatehouse that leads onto the main walls, and a wide set of doors the lead through a smaller inner wall.
Feb 14, 2017 1:00 pm
I head through the inner door, in hopes of locating a bonfire.

You throw the doors open and see another walled of section. This courtyard is a well get rock garden, it's central feature a sight for sore eyes: A bonfire.

You are not alone in the rock garden, a women in a fine dress rakes the sands. From what you see of her arms she doesn't appear to be undead, but you cannot see her face, as it is obscured by a wide brim hat with a veil hanging from it. She speaks to you as you enter. Bearer of the curse, please take refuge in my garden. You must be a powerful warrior to get past the gatekeeper, what brings such a mighty soul to the Firekeep?

Other then the door you came through there are three ways out of the garden, to the left and right wide staircases that lead to raised ground on either side, suggesting that the city behind the wall is raised, and the garden sits sunken to the ground level outside. Ahead a door that leads into the keep proper.

"A good question. I know not what drives me forward, except the will to continue living. Who are you, and what is this place?"
Feb 16, 2017 6:50 am
bearer of the curse, unless you wish to become as mindless as those you fight I suggest you find a stronger sense of purpose. I am Malora, and I red to this garden and this bonfire. By this place place do you mean the garden or the keep?
Feb 16, 2017 11:39 am
"The keep. I do not recognize these lands. But as you have offered, this garden strikes me as odd as well, surrounded as it is by war and despair."
Feb 17, 2017 4:07 am
Well this is the Firekeep, it guards the entrance to the way of saints which leads to the sacred flame. The king of Legrion had it constructed over a much older site as he felt a place of such importance deserved more then then the degraded towers that stood over it.

As for the garden... This bonfire has stood here for some time, and though I have not always guarded it, it has been a refuge for the undead from times before even this keep was here. I maintain the bonfire, and not wanting to be idle as I do so, have created the garden to house it. The war and despair of which you speak is a recent affair compared to the garden and this bonfire.
Feb 17, 2017 1:15 pm
"I see. I have heard of the sacred flame, what is it? And what is through these passages?" I gesture to the pathways leading away from the bonfire.
