Haguk walks up to the edge of the river and looks for a long moment at the distance before piping up. "I can make it. If someone ha a rope I can make a way for the rest of you to follow."
OOC:
Is there something that I could fasten a rope in on both sides?

"I have this." Blackstar produces a coil of the strangest rope the group has ever seen. It's barely the finger's breadth thick, but strong, woven of a strange, gray material. Like each of the strange man's few possessions, the unusual rope was scavenged from the wreckage of the ship transported him from his home world to this one.
OOC:
It's 50ft of paracord.

Both sides of the river are made of the same slippy, organic substance. There is no river bank on either side. Simply a cave entrance (on each side) that is hard up against the river edge.
OOC:
Your instincts tell you that your best bet would be to jump over with the rope.

I'm keen to incorporate this but you need to give me some kind of narrative to work with. Why does Blackstar have paracord in a world without parachutes?

Cool. Let's roll with that. Interested to see where this rope leads us :)

Xanxus shrugs and ties himself off with the far end of the rope in case their jumper needed to be pulled back.

Haguk unsheathes his sword, laying it carefully on the ground, figuring this will probably be easier without it weighing him down. "Watch over it. It is my most cheerest posession." He pauses for a moment. "It is pretty much my only posession."

Tying the other end of the rope around himself, he takes as long running start as he can before making the jump.
OOC:
Hoping I can use Scout for the Bloodslammer Tribe +4, as he is used to traversing difficult terrain. Assuming it is a Strength check.

Rolls

Scout for the Bloodslammer Tribe +4 - (1d20+8)

(8) + 8 = 16

OOC:
Can I use Mage Hand to assist Haguk in some way?

Save it, as Haguk has cleared the river of his own accord.

Haguk runs down the slope and launches himself across the raging torrent. As he hits the ground in the passageway opposite, his left foot skids slightly on landing but he manages to recover himself. Looking back over the river, he sees the remainder of the party staring at him in amazement at his display of athletic chops.

Haguk looks down the passageway and while it is pitch black, he senses that it opens into a sizeable cavern. He's sure he can hear what sounds like the soft lapping of the waves of some underground sea or lake.

Smiling in the darkness at the other man's agility, Domitius muttered, "Had I tried that, I likely would have landed in the river!" He called to Haguk, "Do you see anything you could secure the rope to? Or do you think you can manage to pull us across? No telling how deep this is."
Feb 23, 2017 1:14 pm
"Think it's just..." he starts, looking around at the slippery substance with a frown. "..goo."

"But if we start with the lightest of you, you could help me pull in the heaviest of you."
Feb 23, 2017 1:45 pm
"Right you two figure out how to tie yourself off to the rope and get across. One at a time doesn't matter the order."
Feb 23, 2017 3:11 pm
"Fair enough. I'm mostly skin and bones, so I'll go first. Though some of my bones are far denser than others." He paused to remember the process he underwent to replace his left femur and gave a toothy grin, "Yes, some are far denser."

Looping his bag of bones over a shoulder, he grabbed hold of the rope and plunged into the inky fluid.
OOC:
Do we need to roll to cross?

It's fairly fast flowing so STR+LVL+Any relevant background you can convince me about.....
Feb 23, 2017 9:48 pm
OOC:
Using the background, "replaced all the bones in my body with bones of the dead (3)" as I would have had to learn how to grit my teeth through any physical difficulties I was facing to press on toward my goal. Never give up! Never surrender!

Rolls

Cross the River! (d20+1+3+3) - (1d20+7)

(19) + 7 = 26

OOC:
Yeah, replacing all your bones would make crossing a river seem like childsplay.
Domitius crosses the river with a flourish.

Emerging from the river, Domitus clapped Haguk on the shoulder, "Thank you sir, for helping pull an old elf across the stream. Now, let's help the others, shall we?"

He untied himself and tossed the end of the sodden rope back to the others waiting on the far shore.

Everyone manages to cross the river successfully, although at one point Xanxus almost loses his footing. A loud yell and a few flapping motions with his arms steadies him though and he manages to regain his balance and his composure.

You all stand on the opposite bank. Ahead is a short tunnel sloping downwards towards the sound of gentle lapping of waves on a pebbled shore.
