Part 1: Deliverance

"Always happy to discuss receiving more credits," he says with a wink. "As far as 'good faith', I've never been one for blind trust - which is what faith is. No, I prefer trust to be earned. You've earned a fair bit from us for having completed your end and your efforts in helping us procure fair payment." He gives an earnest nod of respect. "I hope we, in turn, have earned a small amount of your trust by delivering the cargo early and intact."

He smiles and allows his frame to visibly relax a bit. "We'd be more than happy to continue doing business with you. And I'm confident the trust between us will continue to grow," with a broad smile he adds, "and, of course, our mutual profits."

Jack had intended to give a simple "Yeah, sure" in response, but he lets Savi give his spiel instead. Once again he does his best to not chuckle or crack a smile at the formality of it all. "By the way," Jack adds after Savi is done, "Does the name Captain Sontebren mean anything to you? Or the ship the 'dreaded' Krayt Dragon?"

As Savi is speaking, Thessa's amused expression softens into something else, just for a moment. No one but Savi would have seen it, but it looked like...sympathy? Couldn't be. That wouldn't make any sense.

As Savi smiles she grows more serious, and nods.

She turns to Jack as he asks his question, and her eyebrows raise. "Sontebren? That old blowhard? He's a pirate, but nothing to worry about. Flies an old YT, and thinks he is much more charming than evidence suggests."

"Glad to see we aren't the only ones who hold him in such high regard," Jack says sarcastically, chuckling out half the words. "Mayhaps you'd be able to hold it against him sometime then, that he tried to take your friends' cargo after we came out of hyperspace."
Dec 29, 2016 4:36 pm
"Did he now? Well, we can't have that. Bad for business." She smiles with a ferocious glint in her eye. "I may have to call some of friends around the sector...fellow traders who don't take kindly to interference."
Dec 31, 2016 8:26 am
"I was hoping you'd say something like that."

Jack then went quiet, giving Savi and Thessa a chance to work out whatever details remained in the negotiations.

Through the faintest of smiles Savi inquires, "And should one of your...friends...happen to put this pirate out of commission, I assume that friend could expect significant compensation?"
Dec 31, 2016 7:09 pm
A smile crinkles her eyes once more, "That would depend entirely on what our mutual interest are...and how much I like them."

"Fair enough." Savi smiles and motions toward the ramp. With a quick, wry glance toward Jack he turns back to Thessa and adds, "I have found the successful completion of mutually profitable deals to be the quickest way to foster this "like" of which you speak." He chuckles knowing the scoundrel would be rolling his eyes at his heavy use of the language.

As he begins to escort Thessa down the ramp toward her cargo he continues in a more conversational tone, "Did you have a job in mind or should we simply remain in touch?"
Jan 3, 2017 12:32 am
She accompanies him down the ramp and remarks, "I have several jobs in mind. I have many friends, whether you use your definition or mine." She flashes him a grin before continuing, "Do you speak for your crew, or should we gather them first?"
Jan 3, 2017 12:44 am
"I'm sure they'd be fine with me speaking for them when it's needed, however, since they are all in close proximity I'd feel better if we included them."
Jan 3, 2017 12:46 am
She reaches into her bag and pulls out three credit sticks. "Here is your bonus...10 percent per day comes to 300. I know it's not much, but perhaps if we continue to work together, our deals will become even more mutually profitable," she concludes with a straight face.

Savi takes the cred chits graciously. "It's a fair rate at this point in our relationship."

After reaching the base of the ship's loading ramp he motions to his compatriots indicating they are needed for a meeting in the vicinity of the cargo crates. "Thessa has another employment opportunity for us and I think you might all want to consider what she has to say."

Avox approaches the bottom of the ramp and folds his arms, waiting to hear it.

Bo has been sitting at the top of the ramp meddling with the burnt out droid. She isn't mechanically savvy, but attempts to fix it none the less while she listens to the conversation with Thessa. Bo nods to the rest when decisions are being made. She doesn't much care as long as they get their next meal and she stays busy and out of sight. She wants to stay healthy and ready for 'the real job' that might await her. These tasks seem like bare minimum just to keep the ship in space and the crew frosty.

Doc looks at Savi and the woman as they come down the ramp "Well, assuming we've been paid for our last job we would seem to be at a bit of a loose end....why are the details?"
Jan 3, 2017 6:06 pm
Certainly Savi's wordiness causes Jack to grin again, but the look that Savi had given him showed that he knew it, at least this time. Jack wordlessly follows the pair down the ramp, glad to be out from under Chusk's heel for now. It'll take some doing before Jack is eager to seek work from him again. Once at the bottom, he finds a bit of purchase and leans on one of Thessa's crates, looking toward her and Savi for details on the next job.

Boha's fiddling with the droid is catastrophically unsuccessful...not only does she not get it working, she gets a bad shock from it.

Thessa sits crosslegged on one of the crates as everyone gathers around. "As you may have surmised, I have a great many contacts around the Outer Rim, and many of them need different kinds of help. Before I get into any specifics, I need to know more about what kind of work interests you. For example, I have a friend who wants to go to Corellia, but doesn't have a ship and prefers not to travel by more standard conveyance. Another is in need of certain supplies that, perhaps, are not something our illustrious galactic government wants out of their control. I also have some food produced by my farming friends, who wish to deliver it to some remote settlements. Depending on what interests you, these and other tasks can be very lucrative...but more money usually entails more risk."
Jan 4, 2017 1:37 am
Savi smirks. "A certain amount of risk is necessary...even desirable in that it tends to pay better. We aren't interested in profiting from the trade or smuggling of slaves. Apart from that, we tend to be fairly accommodating."

He takes in his friends immediate reactions before concluding, "Which job is offering the highest compensation?"
