Very cool! I've never seen it used before, will have to make a note of that for the upcoming session. Thanks!

It's on page 224 of the Age of Rebellion core book, if you'd like to read up on it!

One thing my group and I figured out after five sessions is that when you switch a weapon to 'Stun' it changes the maximum range of that weapon to short. Last sentence of the Stun Damage entry on page 170 of the AoR Core Rules:
Quote:
When weapons with a Stun setting are used to deal Stun damage, their range changes to short and cannot be increased.
So Bast (and everyone else) will have to do 'real' damage at the current range (unless I'm reading something wrong in the rules).
Only just saw this now (since you pointed it out in the thread)! I did not know this, and I've played a lot of this system. Crazy that you can always manage to find something new. Bast will be doing lethal damage, then. Sorry, Xin :(

It's an odd one as range is not mentioned under the actual "Stun" heading, which is what the weapon quality states.

As for Adversary, you are correct, all attacks have an upgraded difficulty. I was going from the back for the "Adversary Deck" card which states - "upgrade difficulty of all combats checks against this target once" - 'Once' referring to the rank of Adversary as opposed to the number of times they benefit from it (like I had thought). Doh! :-)

What are some options for what Xin can do without actually firing on the guys? Like, could I give an advantage by providing cover fire or distracting them somehow?
Dec 16, 2016 5:33 pm
Notify their next of kin? :-)

Distraction, covering fire, or some other type of action could very well give the others an advantage of some sort. What sounds like something that would be cool to try?

Right now Xin is at medium range and, as far as she knows, hasn't been spotted by the resource team.

And yet it's a really elegant mechanic though, a rank or two turns an otherwise harmless npc into a really serious threat

I don't really know what's going on, but it doesn't seem to be going well (?) so I'm thinking I want to make it seem like there are a lot more of us than there are, possibly by firing from multiple directions or something similar. (Throw a stun grenade if they're in range?) What would that look like?

You could use a maneuver to run up to short range, throw the stun grenade (or blaster someone using Stun), and then another maneuver (along with two strain) to either duck into a building or run back from where you came from.

Or maybe you could do a cover-fire type of deal, fire your blaster at medium range (two purple) and for every two success rolled I'll add a setback die to the troopers next shot.

When you say 2 purple, that's the difficulty?

Yep. When you make a ranged attack the base difficulty is a function of the distance from which you are attacking.

Short - 1 Purple
Medium - 2 Purple
Long - 3 Purple
Extreme - 4 Purple

You can also make ranged attacks when you're engaged but there are usually penalties/modifiers involved when doing so.

OK. I'm gonna roll some dice and probably get this wrong. Here goes.

Looks good. You can use your advantage to remove a strain or pass it along as a boost die to the next active PC.

Bast, you used up all our luck! ;) That's a whole lot of blank faces on good dice.
