At the mental note, Derendil sits up, if somewhat groggily (he's apparently fallen asleep while you've been speaking).

MY BODY?! THIS CURSE?! Derendil, up to this point quiet, now rises to his full height and yells a bestial roar. The links of his chain are taut, yanking against his waist.
Nov 26, 2016 6:43 pm
Dustin winces and his eyes look to the guards as the roar comes out from Derendil.
Nov 26, 2016 6:59 pm
At Derendil's rage, one of the guards in the tower opposite perks up a little bit, looking down at the gate. A few hand signals pass and in a matter of a minute or two, three drow are standing at your gate: Jorlan (the scarred one), and two that you've seen during your various work party trips, but you've not learned their names.

All of you there! Break it up. I won't have you causing havoc this close to duty time! Jorlan sneers at you through the gate. He waves the other guards off and takes a long look at the people in the pen before heading off himself.

Dustin waits for the duty shift.
It will be alright Stool.

Dustin, can you get the key off of one of the guards when they come for the next work shift?

OOC:
I would like to do a survival or perception check to see if there any loose rocks on the ground that are big enough to use as a weapon yet small enough to conceal

Rolls

Survival or perception both +2 - (1D20+2)

(10) + 2 = 12

OOC:
Forgive me if I have t his wrong, but I was under the impression that thieves' cant was a means of verbal communication such that others wouldn't follow the nuances and secret hidden codes within otherwise seemingly regular conversation. I did not think it was similar to Drow hand signals, although I'm fine with whatever the GM wants.

That's why I hesitated to respond. How does it work in this game Drama?

OOC:
I had to go back and re-read the entry. Per RAW, you are absolutely correct, it's a means of injecting a second meaning into an otherwise normal conversation AS WELL AS a "hobo" code of symbols you can leave on houses and such. I think I'm going to hold to that as a standard rule. However, as the game goes on, two of you conversant in the Cant would be able to develop very limited hand signals to coordinate with the Cant. If you want Dustin, you can retcon your hand signal to a typical Thieve's Cant vocalization for identify.

I have something like a key, but I am going out next. Can one of you who isn't on work duty keep them safe for me.

He Hands the golden lock picks to Cemos.

If one of you can use them you could try the manacles.
OOC:
Ok I would have used speach to identify other rogues.

Cemos take the lockpicks and slips them in the lining of his trousers. I'll hold on to these until you return. When you go be on the lookout for anything we can use as a weapon. I was thinking about making a rock sling with this rope but all the stones in here are to small so if you could find some that would be great. And I'll look after stool when your gone.

Thank you friend, I will keep my eyes open. For rocks our manacles are metal the walls are stone. There might be a chance there. Thanks for looking after Stool for me.

Stool, do me a favor use your ability to let people here to talk. Being able to talk silently will really help with any plans.

Cemos walks over to stool and sits on the ground next to him.I'll be looking out for you while dustin is away. cemos gestures to stool.dustin I have been thinking, if we pick the locks of the work party that returns and then you pick your parties lock when you get back then 2 thirds of us will have purchased hands free when the last party returns and that will give us a better chance to make our move if we decide to. Or would you rather we waite?

Wait for now, let's see what we can bring back. Hopefully we can get something on our shift. We could try it though see if you can make it look like the manacles are still closed. Faking being in chains can give us advantage in surprise. The gate we could try but only after a while. They have their eyes on the gate as much as they look in on us.

OOC:

Dustin chuckles, Nice, I should get myself a beard but I doubt very much it would look quite so good on me.
