The Last Ambush

Late in the evening your holo-messenger lights up as a new message arrives. After several weeks of hearing nothing from your unknown contact another detailed plan for an ambush is spelled out in front of you. Just as before there are map locations marked, the resource team's expected route through the city, and their time of arrival. This time the synthesized voice speaks quickly and in a hushed tone. "This will be an unusual team from what I can gather. Their objective is unknown." The speaker sounds as though they are trying to keep quiet while recording the message.

The plan is the same as the last two times; meet at Ishala's clinic to gear up, go over the ambush details, and then head out to the site. The Resource Team is scheduled to land just before sunrise to the south of town and you're to hit them as they make their way through an old abandoned residential section.

It's early in the morning as you walk the narrow streets of Falu to meet with the others. It's been several weeks since the last ambush and while the buzz concerning the Falu Four has died down the reward for your capture is still in place - a fact that is driven home as you walk past several of the posted notices. Arriving at the clinic a short time later you take a quick peek about your surroundings, just to be safe (from what, you're not even sure), and walk on in.
OOC:
You've all arrived at Ishala's clinic. Do we have a cool name for this place?

The clinic has an unassuming storefront, with a simple sign reading "Galactic Family Medical" above the door in Aurebesh. It sits amongst a row of similar businesses, all of which sit quietly waiting for their owners to arrive. Familiar with the procedure, each of you enter the back of the clinic and meet in the supply room. You're surrounded by shelves of medical supplies in sterile wrappings.

"'Unusual team' what do you suppose that means?"

Bast turns an empty, plastic bucket upside down next to one of the shelves and takes a seat. "Can't be sure," he says, clicking his tongue a few times as he ponders it, "Maybe they're more heavily armed, or following different SOPs." Bast pulls the backpack off of his shoulder and sets it down in front of him, rooting through it to make sure all of his gear is in order. He grabs a pair of spare blaster power cells from the backpack, checking to make sure they were full. He pulls his comlink from his vest pocket and fits it snugly into his ear.

"Everyone have a good few weeks?" He asks through the comlink (for those wearing theirs), mostly to test and make sure it's working.

C6 enters the room, moving much more quietly and gracefully than most would expect from a normal service droid. Looking to Ishala he says "Could be anything from new mission parameters for the Imperial scum or a trap"
OOC:
Hmmmm, if we're after a name we could say in the open without tipping anyone off how about "the daycare" or something equally innocuous that any of us would be unlikely to go to as part of our normal day to day routine

"Good morning, all. Let's refrain from speculation. This is a dangerous line of work we've found ourselves in. We know the risks. This job will be no different. Let's keep our focus on the task at hand." I clasp my hands behind my back and smile confidently toward the others.

"Good morning, Xin," Bast replies, still digging through his equipment. "If speculation is off the table, maybe we can talk about location," the soldier leans back a bit until he's resting against one of the low shelves. "I was thinking we could get on either side of them in one of the abandoned buildings. Two-and-two. Hit them from both sides."

Bast chuckles, "Preferably up on a roof, or second-floor somewhere, so that we aren't in each other's firing line."

"Good plan. How shall we divide?"
Nov 25, 2016 6:10 pm
This was a difficult question. Bast looked around to each of his companions, realizing that he did not want to be left alone with C6-9K. That droid gives me the creeps, He thought as he pondered. Still, it would make no sense to pair the doctor with a droid she can't treat, and it may not be best to put both of those with military experience on the same side, in the same location. That left only one option...

"You and Xin," he replies to Ishala's question after a moment to think on it. And then, almost hopefully, he adds, "Unless anyone has a better way."

Ishala hesitates for a moment, then nods. "Right then. Let's roll." She grabs a blaster rifle and puts in her pack with her med kit.

"Stun setting only. You know how I feel about violence. Let's keep it to a minimum if possible."

"I am not able to calculate a better plan Bast Kessler" C6 says as he gathers his equipment "I do wish they would issue us with some land mines though, it would make stopping these convoys a much simpler affair"

Leaving Galactic Family Medical you head off towards the ambush site. The sky to the east is showing just a hint of red as Csillag, the main star of this system, is just a few short hours from rising. The walk is actually quite peaceful; a few people pass, early risers heading off to work most likely.

By the time you reach the older part of the city the streets are empty, not surprising as the apartments in this area have long been abandoned. What is surprising, however, are the voices that you hear just around the corner at the ambush site. Two men complain about having to work so early in the morning.

"Nothing ever goes on around here. We must have really pissed off the captain to pull this shift."

"We'll live. It's not the worse patrol duty I've been sent on."

Peeking around the corner you see two of Falu's finest, members of the Falu Security Force, sitting on a stoop. One is lighting up a cigarette, while the other is staring into the sky.

OOC:
Just to clarify, these are "good guys," right? Not empire that has stationed here claiming to be here for our "protection?"
Nov 30, 2016 11:57 am
OOC:
That is correct. They are good guys. You should think of them as the local police force.

C6 adjusts his audio modulator to a whisper and says to the others "Shall we eliminate these before the Resource Team arrives? They will only get in the way otherwise" he looks to Xin "A stun grenade would suffice I believe"
Nov 30, 2016 7:20 pm
Bast whispers, "Unless Xin thinks she could convince them to leave without drawing suspicion." He shrugs, giving their politician a glance before fetching a stun grenade from the load-bearing vest he wears.

I shrug and raise my arms as if to say 'worth a shot.' I start walking parallel to where the men are sitting. If they don't notice me, I'll pause before doubling back and heading towards them.

As Xin walks by, the officer smoking the cigarette quickly throws it the ground and clambers to his feet. His partner, watching the display, lets out a small chuckle before slowly pushing himself up from the stairs and approaching Xin. "Morning, Ma'am he greets her warmly. "Are you lost? We don't see a lot of folks around these parts so early in the morning."

"Good evening, gentlemen! Why, yes, I decided to take a nice stroll and enjoy the quiet for a bit but I seem to have gotten myself turned around. How lucky I am to have come across you two! How are you doing this fine morning?"
