The Last Ambush

Late in the evening your holo-messenger lights up as a new message arrives. After several weeks of hearing nothing from your unknown contact another detailed plan for an ambush is spelled out in front of you. Just as before there are map locations marked, the resource team's expected route through the city, and their time of arrival. This time the synthesized voice speaks quickly and in a hushed tone. "This will be an unusual team from what I can gather. Their objective is unknown." The speaker sounds as though they are trying to keep quiet while recording the message.

The plan is the same as the last two times; meet at Ishala's clinic to gear up, go over the ambush details, and then head out to the site. The Resource Team is scheduled to land just before sunrise to the south of town and you're to hit them as they make their way through an old abandoned residential section.

It's early in the morning as you walk the narrow streets of Falu to meet with the others. It's been several weeks since the last ambush and while the buzz concerning the Falu Four has died down the reward for your capture is still in place - a fact that is driven home as you walk past several of the posted notices. Arriving at the clinic a short time later you take a quick peek about your surroundings, just to be safe (from what, you're not even sure), and walk on in.
OOC:
You've all arrived at Ishala's clinic. Do we have a cool name for this place?
Nov 23, 2016 10:22 am
The clinic has an unassuming storefront, with a simple sign reading "Galactic Family Medical" above the door in Aurebesh. It sits amongst a row of similar businesses, all of which sit quietly waiting for their owners to arrive. Familiar with the procedure, each of you enter the back of the clinic and meet in the supply room. You're surrounded by shelves of medical supplies in sterile wrappings.
Nov 23, 2016 10:24 am
"'Unusual team' what do you suppose that means?"
Nov 23, 2016 10:57 am
Bast turns an empty, plastic bucket upside down next to one of the shelves and takes a seat. "Can't be sure," he says, clicking his tongue a few times as he ponders it, "Maybe they're more heavily armed, or following different SOPs." Bast pulls the backpack off of his shoulder and sets it down in front of him, rooting through it to make sure all of his gear is in order. He grabs a pair of spare blaster power cells from the backpack, checking to make sure they were full. He pulls his comlink from his vest pocket and fits it snugly into his ear.

"Everyone have a good few weeks?" He asks through the comlink (for those wearing theirs), mostly to test and make sure it's working.
Nov 23, 2016 11:02 am
C6 enters the room, moving much more quietly and gracefully than most would expect from a normal service droid. Looking to Ishala he says "Could be anything from new mission parameters for the Imperial scum or a trap"
OOC:
Hmmmm, if we're after a name we could say in the open without tipping anyone off how about "the daycare" or something equally innocuous that any of us would be unlikely to go to as part of our normal day to day routine
Nov 25, 2016 3:45 am
"Good morning, all. Let's refrain from speculation. This is a dangerous line of work we've found ourselves in. We know the risks. This job will be no different. Let's keep our focus on the task at hand." I clasp my hands behind my back and smile confidently toward the others.
Nov 25, 2016 6:05 am
"Good morning, Xin," Bast replies, still digging through his equipment. "If speculation is off the table, maybe we can talk about location," the soldier leans back a bit until he's resting against one of the low shelves. "I was thinking we could get on either side of them in one of the abandoned buildings. Two-and-two. Hit them from both sides."

Bast chuckles, "Preferably up on a roof, or second-floor somewhere, so that we aren't in each other's firing line."

"Good plan. How shall we divide?"
Nov 25, 2016 6:10 pm
This was a difficult question. Bast looked around to each of his companions, realizing that he did not want to be left alone with C6-9K. That droid gives me the creeps, He thought as he pondered. Still, it would make no sense to pair the doctor with a droid she can't treat, and it may not be best to put both of those with military experience on the same side, in the same location. That left only one option...

"You and Xin," he replies to Ishala's question after a moment to think on it. And then, almost hopefully, he adds, "Unless anyone has a better way."
Nov 29, 2016 10:35 am
Ishala hesitates for a moment, then nods. "Right then. Let's roll." She grabs a blaster rifle and puts in her pack with her med kit.
Nov 29, 2016 6:53 pm
"Stun setting only. You know how I feel about violence. Let's keep it to a minimum if possible."
Nov 29, 2016 8:21 pm
"I am not able to calculate a better plan Bast Kessler" C6 says as he gathers his equipment "I do wish they would issue us with some land mines though, it would make stopping these convoys a much simpler affair"
Nov 30, 2016 12:29 am
Leaving Galactic Family Medical you head off towards the ambush site. The sky to the east is showing just a hint of red as Csillag, the main star of this system, is just a few short hours from rising. The walk is actually quite peaceful; a few people pass, early risers heading off to work most likely.

By the time you reach the older part of the city the streets are empty, not surprising as the apartments in this area have long been abandoned. What is surprising, however, are the voices that you hear just around the corner at the ambush site. Two men complain about having to work so early in the morning.

"Nothing ever goes on around here. We must have really pissed off the captain to pull this shift."

"We'll live. It's not the worse patrol duty I've been sent on."

Peeking around the corner you see two of Falu's finest, members of the Falu Security Force, sitting on a stoop. One is lighting up a cigarette, while the other is staring into the sky.
Nov 30, 2016 6:10 am
OOC:
Just to clarify, these are "good guys," right? Not empire that has stationed here claiming to be here for our "protection?"
Nov 30, 2016 11:57 am
OOC:
That is correct. They are good guys. You should think of them as the local police force.
Nov 30, 2016 12:01 pm
C6 adjusts his audio modulator to a whisper and says to the others "Shall we eliminate these before the Resource Team arrives? They will only get in the way otherwise" he looks to Xin "A stun grenade would suffice I believe"
Nov 30, 2016 7:20 pm
Bast whispers, "Unless Xin thinks she could convince them to leave without drawing suspicion." He shrugs, giving their politician a glance before fetching a stun grenade from the load-bearing vest he wears.
Nov 30, 2016 9:20 pm
I shrug and raise my arms as if to say 'worth a shot.' I start walking parallel to where the men are sitting. If they don't notice me, I'll pause before doubling back and heading towards them.
Nov 30, 2016 11:19 pm
As Xin walks by, the officer smoking the cigarette quickly throws it the ground and clambers to his feet. His partner, watching the display, lets out a small chuckle before slowly pushing himself up from the stairs and approaching Xin. "Morning, Ma'am he greets her warmly. "Are you lost? We don't see a lot of folks around these parts so early in the morning."
Dec 1, 2016 3:36 pm
"Good evening, gentlemen! Why, yes, I decided to take a nice stroll and enjoy the quiet for a bit but I seem to have gotten myself turned around. How lucky I am to have come across you two! How are you doing this fine morning?"
Dec 1, 2016 11:21 pm
"A bit better than you apparently" the first man says with a wide smile. "Where is it that you need to be, Ma'am? We can certainly point you in the proper direction."

The second man finishes putting out his still lit cigarette with the toe of his boot and walks over to join his partner.
Dec 2, 2016 7:55 pm
"To be honest, I'm looking to do a tour of the neighborhood. What is there to see and do around here? Where are the safe areas, and the ones that need a bit of work? I'm always looking for ways to better serve my constituents, but in order to do that I need to understand the bigger picture. Do you have a moment to walk and talk with me? I'd love to hear your perspective. This makes for such a wonderful opportunity! And please, feel free to continue smoking. Don't stop on my behalf."
Dec 2, 2016 9:56 pm
"Despite our initial appearance, Ma'am, we are on duty" the first officer responds.
OOC:
Go ahead and give me an Average (2 purple die) Coercion skill check. If you succeed they'll follow you around, otherwise they'll hold their position and wish you a good day.
Dec 2, 2016 11:14 pm
"My apologies! I meant no disrespect, I only thought you were taking a break from patrolling this neighborhood."
OOC:
Oh come on!

Shooting his partner an annoyed glance over his shoulder the first officer takes a deep breath and lets out an exasperated sigh. "Fine, fine" he relents and motions Xin to lead the way. "Where to, Ma'am?"
OOC:
As soon as Xin draws the two officers away the rest of you are free to start investigating the ambush site.
Dec 3, 2016 9:57 am
"Be ready to move," Bast whispers to the others as he watches the exchange, concealed.

You watch as Xin manages to lead the two security officers away from the site. Where she may be leading them is anyone's guess, but for now the path to the site is clear. The site that your contact has chosen appears to be well thought out. There are two abandoned apartment buildings on either side of the narrow road, each is three stories in height, and have been completely gutted of furnishing, doors, and windows. Empty shells of their former selves.

C6-9K calculates his options and concludes that there isn't a particular advantage to either building or location within them.
OOC:
@Moofs: Taking these guys anywhere in particular? Going to try and lose them and make it back to the site?
@mcneils: Two difficulty is always a good base to start from when taking a roll. I can add/remove dice as needed if the guess is off.
Dec 7, 2016 4:54 am
When Bast spots the site, he pauses. "I'm hesitant to leave one of us alone if Xin can't find her way back, so we might just want to stick together." Even if there's no significant advantage, Bast picks one of the buildings, deciding for one minor reason or another that it is "better," and makes his way to it. "Lets get up to the second floor," he says, slinging his rifle off of his shoulder.
OOC:
Edited dialogue because Bast was contradicting himself. That's what I get for being tired while posting.

Ishala nods and follows. "I'm going to head up to the roof to see if I can get eyes-on"
Dec 7, 2016 9:37 pm
I allow the men to lead at first, and then continuously point out other destinations that I think is where I want to go.
OOC:
Ultimately, I lead them far away from the ambush site and keep on walking and talking until I'm able to lose them.
Dec 8, 2016 11:12 pm
Bast gives Ishala a thumbs-up before cradling his rifle under one arm and making his way to the second floor.
Dec 12, 2016 1:43 am
While Xin continues her walk with the two Falu Security Force officers the rest of you take up positions in the building. C6-9K and Bast find adjacent empty rooms on the second floor each having a clear view of the road below them. After a bit of searching around Ishala finds a route to the roof top where she has a view of the field just south of the site.

Being an older city, Falu's narrow roads are generally off limit to any type of vehicular traffic, leading the resource teams to disembark just outside of the city limits. Today is no different and as Ishala scans the horizon she can make out the approaching transport heading her way.
OOC:
@Moofs - When you're ready and want to attempt to lose the FSF officers make a Stealth check against a RED/PUR difficulty
@Everyone - If you're all good with your positions let me know what you're doing as the transport approaches. It'll just be a few more moments before they reach their location
Dec 12, 2016 9:48 am
"See anything, Ishala?" Bast whispers over the comlink. He'll take a moment to inspect his rifle, setting his extra ammo in easy-to-reach pouches. He'll take debris and other items from within the room (if any) and stack them up by the window for some extra cover, so long as nothing he grabs would look obvious and out of place. Once done, he'll stay out of side, crouched below the window.
Dec 12, 2016 9:52 am
C6 moves to take position, trying to remain hidden from view but whilst still able to see the direction that the Resource Team should be coming from.
OOC:
making a Stealth check to try and get out of sight as much as possible

Edit: Hmmm, odd - should just read as a net Triumph as the Success part of it should cancel the failure....it's a moot point though if the difficulty is different than that

The transport, hovering just above the tall grass, comes to stop roughly 200 meters from the edge of town and sits silently for a moment before a large side door folds downward into a ramp. A small round probe-droid flits out and moves to the front of the transport, hovering about eight feet in the air. Down the ramp march two figures in full white armor; Imperial Storm Troopers. They are followed by two Imperial officials and two more troopers. The group gathers in front of the transport where they appear to have a quick discussion before sending the transport on its way.

With the probe-droid keeping pace about fifty feet or so ahead of the group, they move out towards the ambush site.
"Ma'am? Ma'am! Where are you?" Xin hears her guides call out as she rounds the corner out of sight. Listening for a moment to ensure that she's not being followed she starts her return to the ambush site.
OOC:
Xin will return to the ambush site momentarily. :-)
The Imperials are marching with the probe in the lead, two troopers side by side, the two officers, and then the two other troopers. The three of you at the site can all see the group approaching.

Dec 13, 2016 8:28 am
Seeing the squad of imperials moving towards them, and that there are no local forces included in the group, C6 quietly switches his blasters from stun to kill setting and starts trying to draw a bead on the probe droid from his concealed position. Quickly flicking his comms into life he messages the others "Are we taking them once they are on top of us of at a bit of distance?"
OOC:
Basically asking if we're opening up when they're at Medium or short range?

"There's that cliche about 'the whites of their eyes.' I think we should listen to it and wait for them to get close. If we hit them hard and fast there'll be less shooting back at us." Bast says, still crouched behind the wall. "Might want to come down here so that you aren't stuck up there if we need a hasty retreat, Ishala," he recommends, a level of genuine concern in his voice.

"Glad to hear, Xin. Good job with those guards." He'll describe which building they're in, so that Xin can find them easily enough. "And remember, everyone: if you can't shoot straight, just shoot a lot."
OOC:
I'd like to make a Knowledge (Warfare) check to determine 2 things (I'll do 2 rolls, just in case): (1) If the scout droid they have would be able to get a read on them through the walls of the building and (2) which would be the best target(s) to take out first. Woops, I forgot to add the default 2 difficulty like I planned. I'll just let you edit whatever difficulty it should be.

Ishala nods even though he can't see it and says, "Right, on my way." She makes her way down to the second floor and takes up a position adjacent to the others.
Dec 14, 2016 12:33 am
With the droid approaching, Bast is able to get a fairly good look at the thing, and can determine that it does appear to be some sort of sensor droid. It suddenly comes to a stop, directly in front of your position, just as Ishala moves to joins the others. It emits a single beep and then slowly starts to rotate as if scanning its surroundings.

"Not supposed to be anyone about in these parts, let's see what we have here" the officer holding the pad says as he stops his team, his loud voice echoing off of the walls of the abandoned buildings.

Xin has just about arrived when she hears the Imperial officer's voice, she peeks around the corner and can see the drone in the air, and the resource team about forty feet behind it.
OOC:
Bast knows that they have 10-15 seconds before the droid's scan will alert the resource team of Ishala and himself in the building. He also notices that the officers don't appear to be armed, or at least aren't carrying weapons as large as the troopers.

You all get one action before being scanned. The droid is at Short distance, the team is at medium to those in the building. Everything is at medium for Xin.
Dec 14, 2016 3:17 am
"Target the troopers," Bast whispers, springing up from behind his cover!
OOC:
Would you like us to go ahead and take our actions now, or roll Cool for initiative?
Dec 14, 2016 3:24 am
OOC:
Sorry, need to be a little more clear on things. I just assume you all can read my mind. :-)

Each of you can go ahead and take your turn, just be sure to roll your Initiative as well using your Cool Skill. For those that don't know, initiative rolls are made without adding any opposing dice, so just roll the good ones. :-)
Dec 14, 2016 3:39 am
As Bast comes up he props his blaster rifle onto the cover he'd prepared. He closes one eye and lines up his sights. He takes in a quick breath and breathes it out slowly, squeezing the trigger even slower.

A series of blasts fire out from the end of the barrel toward one of the stormtroopers. Bast remains cold and serious on the other end of the rifle.
OOC:
Taking one maneuver to Aim. Suffering two strain to take a second maneuver and using that to Aim as well (for 2 blue Boost dice). Since we're at Medium Range, it's 2 Difficulty to shoot at him. Adding 1 Boost die for the Accurate quality on the weapon, and for the record the rifle is on the Stun Setting. I don't know if they have any Ranged Defense or not.

Bast and C6-9K open up on their targets nearly simultaneously.

The lead Stormtrooper falls straight back, nearly knocked off his feet, as Bast's blaster hits him square in the chest. The three remaining troopers' training kicks in instinctively and they quickly level their weapons preparing to return fire. One of the officers draws a blaster of some sort and starts to move to the building opposite your own, while the one with datapad remains in place, furiously pushing buttons on his device.

The droid takes a direct hit, wobbles in the air, starts to spark, and crashes to the ground.

OOC:
One maneuver to Aim. Spending 2 strain to perform Bodyguard maneuver on Ishala: Spending 1 strain to upgrade difficulty of all combat checks against her this round. Adding a red for adversary (I think it applies to all combat checks, unless this is a special, diminished kind of adversary trait; so adding it just in case).

Edit: I'll throw in a purple just in case I was incorrect...

Edit 2: If I miss the shot (due to adversary) then I'll spend 1 advantage to do 1 strain to him, and 1 advantage to give the next player a boost die on their check. If I hit, then I'll recover 1 strain and give the next player a boost die.

While Bast's attack doesn't quite hit the officer, it's close enough to scare him into action. Shuffling on his hands and knees he crawls forward onto the stoop in front of the building, out of sight of the three ambushers on the second floor. "Return fire!" he commands.

From the opposite side of the street the other officer sets his sites on the window closest to where the probe went down and takes aim. He fires off a series of blasts towards C6-9K's position, striking the droid once. Pleased with his attack he turns to run for cover in the opposite building, but catches his feet together and sprawls to the ground. His blaster flies out of his hand and lands in front of him just out of reach. [C6-9K takes 9-soak wounds]

The troopers coordinate their actions and send flurry of fire back at Bast striking him just before he gets back into cover. [Bast takes 10-soak wounds]
OOC:

MoMo is correct in regards to the Adversary Talent. ANY attacks on the officers will upgrade the difficulty of the attack by 1. (So if it's normally 2 purple die, it will be 1 purple and 1 red instead).

Running forward Xin tosses a stun grenade into the fray before ducking into a building and out of sight. The grenade lands at the feet of one of the troopers and detonates. The trooper starts to seize before falling to his knees and then crumpling to the ground unconscious.
OOC:
Xin should take two strain for her second maneuver (running into the building) and can use her Advantage to either recover one strain or to give the next player a boost die to add to their pool.

Two storm troopers are still standing in the street, taking aim at the second floor of the building. One officer is laying prone on the ground, reaching for his weapon, and the other is out of sight, on the stoop of the building you're all currently occupying.

I'm fully open to any offers from the GM for how to spend these advantages, but otherwise I'll make my decisions from the book:

Okay, so, I don't know if I can base my decisions off of this or not (if I can't, just let me know and I'll rework it), but if these Stormtroopers are Minions (and thus are combining their HP, more or less) then I'd like to let my damage (which is 11 total) to kill the first one, and I'll activate a crit with 3 advantages to kill the 2nd one. I'll use 1 advantage to give the next PC a Boost, 2 to give Xin a boost, 2 to give Ishala a boost (I'm assuming here that C6-9K will go in the next PC slot). I'll spend the remaining 2 advantages to remove 2 strain.

1. 3 for crit on 2nd trooper
2. 1 for boost to next PC
3. 2 for boost to Ishala
4. 2 for boost to Xin
5. 2 to remove 2 Strain
Dec 22, 2016 6:08 pm
The two remaining troopers are taken down in quick succession as Bast opens fire from the second floor. With all of the support out of the way the officer with the datapad decides that discretion is the better part of valor. He jumps up and starts running down the street towards the field where the transport had originally dropped them off.

The other officer scooches his way towards his weapon, grabs it, and while still on the ground rolls onto his back and returns fire towards Bast's position, striking him once again. [Bast takes 7-Soak]
OOC:
Holy hell, what a roll! I'm perfectly fine with using the Advantage as spelled out.

One officer is laying on the ground in the street in view of everyone (He's prone, so add a black die if shooting at him, and upgrade one purple to a red). The other (with the datapad) has just starting to run away, he's injured and moving slowly, so still at medium range.

As he does, he mutters under his breath, "Where is that other one.." The Officer's blaster strikes Bast in the shoulder, and he curses, "E chu ta!" Bast crouches back behind cover, cradling his rifle as he checks his wound.
OOC:
No actions here, of course. Just being flavorful. Bast is at 7/15 Wounds and 5/13 Strain.
Dec 23, 2016 7:48 am
C6 takes a shot at the fleeing officer, whilst laughing with an unsettling monotone.

With a blast striking the ground near his feet the fleeing officer jukes to his right which, unfortunately for him, puts him directly in line with Ishala's attack. The bolt hits him between his shoulder blades, lurching him forward. He lands face down in the road, his datapad still clutched in his outstretched hand.

I suggest we leave the bodies where they are and withdraw" he then leans down to quickly examine the body for anything of note.

"I'm not as worried about the imps as I am getting into a firefight with innocent people." Ishala runs over to the troopers and grabs a bucket, placing it on her head to listen in on the comms while she looks over the armor. She pauses for a moment as she sees the young face beneath the helmet, and a look of sadness crosses her face before she gets back to the task at hand. More innocents, anyway. Poor barv. Bast hurries out into the street at a jogging pace, strapping his rifle once more onto his backpack. He walks about, collecting blasters and either hooking them onto his load-bearing gear or stuffing them into his backpack wherever they might fit. He catches Ishala staring at the trooper beneath the helmet, and even though he didn't quite notice her look of sadness, he can assume well enough due to their similar backgrounds. Not to mention that Xin asked them to keep weapons on stun, but unfortunately the convoy didn't get close enough and the droid was about to locate them.

He desperately wants to rally them with a few choice words, but nothing is coming to him, and Bast simply continues to collect the weapons. Once done, he'll begin dragging troopers into the first floor of the building and setting them side-by-side. "Seems wrong to leave them lying out in the street," he says as his only excuse, not trying to take sides between his two allies.

It appears that one of the final acts of the officer with the datapad was to lock the device down and while it is now in your possession accessing its contents will take a bit of work. A search of the others turns up the standard equipment one might expect to find on Storm Trooper and Imperial officers, weapons, comm-links, etc. The other officer, however, is carrying four small envelopes, each with a number written on it. Inside each envelope are differing amounts of Imperial Credits.

Ishala doesn't hear any chatter over the Imperial comms and determines that the armor for all of the Troopers, other than the one that is still unconscious, is beyond repair.
OOC:
As it's the end of the encounter each of you may roll a Simple (no Purple) Discipline or Cool check to recover Strain.
Access to the datapad will take a 3 Purple Difficulty Computer check. Failing that someone can give me a two purple Streetwise check.

One set of Storm Trooper armor appears to be salvageable.
One Storm Trooper is still alive, but unconscious.

Envelope #23-A23 - 400 Credits
Envelope #23-A24 - 400 Credits
Envelope #44-A25 - 600 Credits

Bast is relieved that Ishala replied so swiftly. It saved him from making the choice. He understood the dangers of leaving that trooper alive, felt naive by wanting to do so anyway, but he also didn't think he could order an execution. He frowns, turning to Ishala as she approaches. "You alright?" He asks, heading down the street and away from the ambush site, checking behind him to make sure the group was departing together.

The sadness returns to her face. "We trained with kids like that, led kids like that. Now we're slaughtering them from ambush, with no warning. Most of them are just too simple or idealistic to see through the Imperial propaganda, but I'm not sure that means they deserve to die."

After a moment, failing to think up anything that might be consoling, he simply puts a hand on Ishala's shoulder and says, "This isn't going to be easy. We're saving other lives, though, and the Empire wouldn't let them go as quickly as those troopers went."

Looking over the envelopes reveals very little other than the first two envelopes are sequentially numbered and the others are not. There doesn't even appear to be a correlation between the numbers and the credit amounts contained within.

Trying his luck with the datapad C6-9K does his best to bypass the security and just when he appears to have it beaten the entire pad shuts down. Try as he might he can't restore power to the device. Two immediate options spring forth to the droid:

Mannies' Tech-o-Rama: A store which sells and repairs standard technical devices. They are known to be Empire friendly, however.

Slicer's Paradise: The crew here is pretty good and specialize in repairing more obscure devices. While not known to be Empire friendly, they're not known for participating in illegal activities either.

I stand in the main room, hands clasped behind my back. "That could have gone more smoothly. What happened? What do we need to do differently?"
Jan 6, 2017 8:53 pm
"When we started these ambushes, we had the element of surprise," Bast explains, laying down a large piece of cloth. "We certainly don't have that anymore. We're going to be expected every time, just like we were expected this time." Bast begins to take apart his rifle, laying the pieces onto the cloth and wiping each one down meticulously. "The fact of the matter is that we are only four people," He goes on while he works, "And four people with limited funds can only do so much against the Empire."

Bast clicks his tongue, sounding somewhat annoyed, "I kept on with this because we were getting good intel that gave us an advantage. If the next message just says, 'Same old, same old; good luck,' then I think we should consider it carefully before running off to fight some Imps."
Jan 7, 2017 3:32 pm
C6 looks at Xin for a moment before responding "Your feelings on the subject of lethal force may need to be addressed. We are working towards the goal of fighting, and ultimately defeating, the Empire - the more often we leave their forces alive the more they will learn about us and our tactics and will be able to develop effective countermeasures." he pauses for a moment whilst considering more data "That aside our operation achieved it's objective with minor injuries on our part. Dependant on what is contained on the data pad we may also have gained more valuable intel in addition to the payments I highly suspect were destined for Imperial collaborators in towns I would count it as an unmitigated success"

He sits in a corner and pulls out a small, improvised toolset and starts to try to repair the fairly obvious blaster wound on his chassis
OOC:
Ok, I'll be rolling 2 yellows to try and 'first aid' myself with mechanics but the difficulty will be 3 purples due to me doing it to myself (adds 2 purples) so anyone got a halfway decent mechanics score or Int that wants to help a fella out and have a crack instead? :)

With a combination of knowledgeable fiddling and a bit of luck the power is restored to the datapad. Ishala, recalling some of her past experience using Imperial equipment, is able to access a few of the different pages. The first is a layout of the city, with the path of the now destroyed droid overlaid on top. It appears that the droid's entire purpose was to detect lifeforms along its planned path. Obviously the past ambushes have the resource teams a little jumpy.

The second page is simply a list of names, numbers, and locations within the city of Falu:
Whaymel Lectronfire - #23-A23 - Residential Location (Private Dwelling)
Basked Shipburn - #23-A24 - Business Location (AAA Mining Supplies)
Mirach Mucecud - #44-A25- Residential Location (Apartment Complex and Apartment #)
Grewhit Gen - #01-A01 - Business Location (GHG Heavy Industries)

Everyone has heard of Grewhit Gen, the owner of GHG Heavy Industries. He's a staunch supporter of The Empire and it has been rumored that he is using their recent appearance as a means of driving away some of his competition. The others are not immediately familiar to any of you.
OOC:
@mcneils5: So you want to use the advantages for cosmetic surgery? :-) I'm good with that.
Jan 9, 2017 9:45 am
At the satisfying beep that the datapad emits, Bast gets up and peers over Ishala's shoulder at its contents. "So is the Empire paying off these folk, or paying them for services rendered?" Bast questions aloud, looking around to his compatriots.
Jan 9, 2017 10:27 am
OOC:
Yeah, while the fleshbags in the party can cover their wounds with clothing after a fight I can't remember any droids in Star Wars that had a tendancy to wear anything at all really so I figured we'd need to take measures to hide any injuries C6 takes
Looking at the repairs Ishala has made to his chassis C6 looks at her "A most satisfactory job, you have my thanks" he says sounding as pleased as you have probably ever heard him.

He gets up and joins the others studying the list "I believe the only way to answer that question would be to ask the individual's listed here" he says in response to Bast's question "I'm sure we can be very persuasive"
Jan 9, 2017 10:32 am
Ishala raises her eybrows, "Maybe something a little less...direct to start with? Why don't we run a holo search on them, see what we can dig up?"
Jan 9, 2017 7:12 pm
Bast was about to agree wholeheartedly with C6-9K before Ishala put forward a much less aggressive and downright wiser approach. He gives Ishala an affirmative nod and says, "That's what I was going to suggest, too."
Jan 11, 2017 12:55 am
Ishala does a HoloNet search on each of the names, including the business information when it is available.

Whaymel Lectronfire - #23-A23 - Residential Location (Private Dwelling)

Searching the HoloNet, Ishala and the others are able to piece together the following information about the four names found in the datapad:

Whaymel Lectronfire: Whaymel and his wife Wupera are the owners of the 'Fallen Falu Grill' an eatery not too far from where the ambush took place. The residential location listed in the datapad is the Lectronfire residence where Whaymel and Wupera live with their two young children.

Basked Shipburn: Owner of AAA Mining Supplies in the center of town who has seen a lot of business ever since the activity at the site started. Rumor has it that he's actually met Captain Isskar Cronwick, the man assigned the task of heading up the proceedings at the site. He's a strong supporter of Imperial rule and isn't shy about sharing this opinion to anyone that will listen.

Mirach Mucecud: The young women is a member of the Falu Security Force and appears to be well liked within the force and within the community. There are several news stories where her name appears, usually as a responding officer to some sort of disturbance, but nothing that jumps out as overly intersting. If she has political leanings one way or the other she keeps them to herself. The apartment complex and number appear to be for a single person occupancy.

Grewhit Gen: For someone so well known about town, there isn't a lot of public information on the man. Owner of GHG Heavy Industries and a shrewd/vicious business man.
Jan 11, 2017 3:28 am
"Anything useful? Where to begin?" I watch in avid interest as the two attempt to acquire leads.
Jan 13, 2017 10:09 am
Ishala considers the information with a furrowed brow. "Clearly the four envelopes correspond to these four people. Perhaps payments for materiel? That would make sense for the Lectronfires, they would have access to food supplies. And Shipburn and Gen could be supplying machinery. But I'm left with two big questions: what are they paying the cop for, and what the kriff are they doing out there?
Jan 13, 2017 8:19 pm
"Maybe... hey, Xin, maybe you could talk to one of them?" Bast asks, turning to the Bothan, "You know, say something clever and get them to accidentally say more than they mean to. Psychology, and all." Bast looks hopeful, even if he's the last person to know anything about clever conversation. He looks back toward the rest of the group and says, "Might be worth a try before we do anything more aggressive. At the very least, if Xin went to go and talk to them, she could let us know what the interior looks like, in case we have to break in anywhere and do a more thorough investigation ourselves."
Jan 13, 2017 9:27 pm
As the talk moves away from a more 'direct' approach C6 loses a certain amount of interest and sits in a corner waiting for the others to decide on a course of action....if it was possible for a droid to reek of boredom you're pretty sure this is what it looks like.
OOC:

So what's the plan?
Jan 16, 2017 11:38 pm
OOC:
I was just waiting for any other opinions :)
Jan 17, 2017 12:49 am
Ishala nods in agreement. "Great plan."
Jan 18, 2017 2:47 am
"Then it's agreed. This plan involves little to no violence, so I like it already. The question is, with whom should we start?" I look over the intel once more and let it roll around in my head for a bit.
Jan 19, 2017 8:00 am
"I would suggest we start with Whaymel Lectronfire" C6 says in his usual monotone "They would seem to be the least public of the named individuals, least likely to have a security detail, and also they have a family so they would potentially be more willing to talk to avoid any trouble" after pausing for a moment to let his words sink in he continues "Additionally it may be an opportunity to get the recipe for his Bespin Batha Surprise....I've heard it is exquisite"
Jan 20, 2017 6:37 am
Bast gives the droid a look after that last comment; He simply could not figure him out. "That sounds like a plan to me, too," he says, turning to look back at Xin. "Kind of seems that we shouldn't all go, however. We should limit how much the four of us are seen together." He chews on his lip as he ponders, "I also don't want to sit idle and make Xin do all the work. Anything else we could try to figure out in that datapad?"
Jan 21, 2017 10:31 am
Ishala smiles at Bast's reaction. "That sounds like an excellent plan. I agree the civvies are the place to start. So, Xin and Cook will go talk to them, and Bast and I will work on the datapad?"
Jan 24, 2017 8:40 pm
"That seems like a workable plan" C6 says getting to his feet "Shall we go now or wait?"
Jan 24, 2017 8:43 pm
"I don't think it'd hurt to start tomorrow," Bast says putting his weapon back together with the components all cleaned. "But either should be fine, I think."
Jan 25, 2017 11:38 pm
Xin and C6-9K leave out of the back of GFM to make their way to the Lectronfire residence. It's still early in the morning but there are plenty of city's residents out and about getting about their days. You overhear a few people chatting about an ambush that took place early in the morning:

"I heard The Four killed 16 storm troopers before they could even return fire."
"No way they killed that many bucketheads with just four of 'em. No way!"
"I'm telling ya it's true, my buddy's on the force, said they found them just after it happened."

Within a few minutes you arrive at the Lectronfire household and walk up to the door. You can hear children inside playing and a male voice trying to shush them. "Quiet now you two or there will be no Bespin Batha Surprise for lunch!"
Jan 26, 2017 10:08 am
Whilst they are approaching the door C6 cast's a glance around the building and approach looking for anything untoward.

There doesn't appear to be any type of surveillance on Whaymel's or any of the other nearby homes, which isn't entirely surprising given the area of town. Most of the residents in this area are well to do and what little crime occurs is almost always minor in nature.

OOC:
Is there any chance that working on the datapad over a longer period of time might prove fruitful, or should we figure something else out. I'm all for the diplomatic and non-aggressive solution to figuring out more about these names, and I don't mind waiting OOC, but I'm not too certain what can be done between Bast and Ishala with the datapad while we wait. Sorry for being quiet, but I've just been bad at coming up with ideas :P

Maybe some of the others had offered Xin some suggestions before her and C6-9K left the clinic?

The datapad has more than likely provided all of the useful information it can provide. You might be able to try one of the techie shops in town? Or you could do something completely different.
Jan 27, 2017 11:46 pm

I think the intent was to just chat them up, sound them out on the Imperials, see if they drop any hints as to the nature of their business with them.

I stride towards the door and give it a hearty knock as my face forms into the most genial of expressions.
Jan 28, 2017 5:07 am
"Someone's here!" one of the children inside of the house calls out. You hear footsteps approaching and then the twist of the knob as the door slowly opens. A tall human female with short, dark hair answers the door, flanked on either side by a single child; a girl to the left, and a boy to the right.

"Can I help you?" she asks, both of the children staring wide eyed at the early morning visitor.

Ishala deactivates the data pad and tosses it in with the rest of the haul. She stops for a moment, then also deactivates the power from the helmet...just in case. She looks up at Bast with a grin, "Feel like going for a stroll through the industrial district? I've heard it's very romantic this time of year."
Jan 30, 2017 11:19 pm
Bast, with his weapon all reassembled, flips a switch to test the blaster rifle and make sure all of the complicated parts were functioning. Hearing a satisfying squeal from the power cell, he slings his rifle over his shoulder and returns Ishala's grin, "Absolutely."
Jan 31, 2017 2:56 am
"Good day. My apologies for bothering you at this early hour, but I am doing my duty as a citizen and as a representative of the people to take any and all witness statements on the events that transpired before light this morning involving several Imperial Officers. Any and all leads would be helpful in assisting the local police in catching the remaining Falu Three as they are most certainly involved in some way."
Jan 31, 2017 10:22 am
Ishala gives the rifle an incredulous look. "I said a walk, not a frontal assault. You're going to get arrested carrying that thing around in the daytime."
Jan 31, 2017 10:32 am
C6 hovers behind Xin trying to appear as non-threatening as possible
Jan 31, 2017 10:55 am
Bast - not known for being the brightest - had thought Ishala was insinuating a "walk" as opposed to taking a stroll. He nods his head, "No, yeah, I know. I was just putting it down." He steps over a few feet and unslings the rifle to leave it propped up against the wall. "Riiight here."
Feb 1, 2017 12:29 am
The smile on Wupera's face quickly sours as Xin talks of the early morning incident. She looks down at her children and starts to usher them away when you hear a male voice from within the house.

"Another attack?" he says, approaching the door, while helping in Wupera's effort to move the children away from the conversation. Whaymel stands next to his wife and gives a friendly nod to his visitor.

"And one of the four was captured you say?" he asks. "How unfortunate. Frankly the Imperial presence here in Falu is unacceptable. More of us should be standing up against them if you ask me!"

"I'd just wish they'd leave you alone!" Wupera adds, looking up at her husband.

"I keep forgetting who I'm talking to...it's been so long since I've been around..." she trails off, then with a straight face recites, "This is a recon mission, soldier. Eyes-on only. You are not to engage, and you are to make every effort to blend in with the civilians. Copy?" The twinkle in her eye belies her serious tone.

I nod slowly. "Completely off the record? I've heard similar from many others. There are some, shall we say 'concerns', about their increased presence." I lower my voice. "Have they been harassing you, sir, or your family? I want to be able to help in any way that I can."
Feb 1, 2017 10:18 am

Whaymel takes a deep breath and slowly exhales. "Harassing? No. I wouldn't call what they've been up to harassing as much as unrelenting annoyance."

"Same thing!" Wupera says with an edge in her voice.

Slowly nodding in agreement with his wife he continues, "She's right. It's gotten to the point where I've had to ask some of those thugs working for the empire to leave. Always wanting me to spy on my own customers. I just won't do it!!"

"They even tried to bribe him the one time, 100 credits for a list of rebellion sympathizers!" Wupera adds. "Said they were going to talk to someone more 'official' about persuading Whaymel to spy. If that's not harassment, I don't know what is!"

After a brief moment of silence you notice that the little girl has wandered up to the door and is peeking between her mother's legs. "Who's the droid, Mommy!?!?" she asks, pointing towards C6-9K.

C6 was trying to look as unobtrusive as possible but when he heard the small voice he looked down at the little girl "Greetings small lifeform. I am C6-9K, I assist my colleague here in various ways in addition to preparation of meals and other things designated as 'snacks'" he says, really trying to sound friendly.
Feb 3, 2017 2:40 am
Before her parents can stop her the little girl runs out of the house, brushing up against Xin on the way, and over to the droid. "Hi C6-9K! I'm Lanya, Do you have snacks?"

Wupera, slightly embarrassed by her daughter's behavior, looks over to C6-9K and mouths "sorry".

"Lanya, get back here. You just ate!"
The narrow and tight streets of Falu open up significantly as Ishala and Bast approach the Industrial District. To your immediate left is the building of interest; GHG Heavy Industries.

A nondescript building the covered front entrance leads to large double doors. A security guard, leaning against the wall next to the door, casually checks the IDs of those who are entering the building. With a quick look you notice several security cameras along the perimeter of the roof.

To the right are a couple of smaller buildings; Ruhak's Active Wear and Mernoki Engineering. Ruhak's Active Wear has been in business for as long as anyone can remember and manufacture high end active wear for just about every sentient species that populates the planet. They have a small showroom up front, but the majority of the building is used for manufacturing.

Mernoki Engineering is a new engineering firm that specializes in producing specialized manufacturing droids. This building is strictly an office used for research and development.

Bast groans, "That doesn't look fun." He eyes the cameras, trying to detect any blind spots that may be present.

"It is true. I... it's been a long morning and I'm afraid the stresses of the day perhaps made me hungrier than I am, typically, at this time of day." I give a look of embarrassment to C6-9K.

"I am troubled by this news of payments. Does the empire have any reason to believe that you employ resistance sympathizers? Or is this simply something that they ask of all businesses? What business is it that you run, if you don't mind my asking?"

Ishala murmurs, "Play along," then pulls out her datapad, and gives Bast an exasperated look. She berates him, "I told you it wasn't over here...it's that way!" She points down the street toward the back of the GHG building. "Men! Never want to read the map, always think they know where they're going." She throws up her hands and marches off down the street in the direction she indicated.
Feb 4, 2017 3:41 am
Looking at the layout and coverage of the security cameras Bast is fairly certain that there may be some blind spots that can be taken advantage of if a careful approach is taken. Unfortunately his investigation has drawn some unwanted attention from the guard stationed by the entrance. The man starts to walk towards Bast and Ishala, the latter's performance only drawing more attention to the pair.

The man gets no further than about ten or so meters from his station when a group of employees heads towards the entrance. With one more glance towards the duo the guard heads back to his station to check on the IDs of the employees entering the building.
"Awwww" Lanya moans, her hopes of an early morning snack dashed. "Maybe next time" she says, as she shuffles back towards her front door.

"Wupera and I run the Fallen Falu Grill." Whaymel says. "We get all kinds of people in there and people talk. Guess the Imperials would think I'd be able to point out customers who may be sympathetic to the resistance. No way I'd rat out my customers, no matter what their opinion of the resistance might be."

"We just want them to leave us alone." Wupera adds.
Feb 5, 2017 11:37 am
Ishala hisses, "Stop being so obvious. I'm a terrible actor."
Feb 5, 2017 12:08 pm
Bast looks around, baffled for a moment by Ishala's quick improvisation. Likely, it was mostly his confusion and blundering that hindered her plan. "I don't think I could do any better," he mutters to Ishala once the guard is walking away.

"Here," he says, not-so-subtly pointing to the alleyway before he catches himself and is a bit more discreet. "I think if we actually go behind that building there," he gestures to the active wear building, "Then we might be able to sneak around to the side of the building and stay out of sight of the cameras."

He begins to lead the way, unless Ishala protests.
Feb 7, 2017 12:33 am
Ishala follows him.
Feb 7, 2017 4:46 am
"Of course! Home of the Bespin Batha Surprise! I thought I recognized you! That dish is absolutely delightful. If only my droid chef here could learn how to create such a wonderful dish." I sigh wistfully.
Feb 8, 2017 11:07 pm
With the guard busy dealing with his normal duties you are able to move into the alleyway without drawing his attention. The narrow alleyway, while not dirty, is home to both of the adjacent business' trash receptacles, which makes for a tight squeeze as you walk through and reach the back of Ruhak's Active Wear.

There are several employees out behind the building taking a break, a few of them smoke, while the others chat amongst themselves. A male Twi'lek is the first to see you as you round the corner. Startled, he jumps, spilling his drink over his work uniform.

While several of his coworkers start to laugh the Twi'lek's face turn sour as he stares down the surprise guests.

"Employees only!" he yells. "You two need to go back the way you came from."

Several of his coworkers line up behind him as a show of support.
Whaymel gives Xin a proud smile at the mention of his restaurant's specialty.

"I'm glad that you're such a fan. Perhaps if you're in the area you can stop by for a bite to eat." he offers as he slowly starts to edge back into his house. "It'll even be on the house if you can do something about those thugs that keep showing up."

Looking back to ensure both of his children our inside he says, "I'm glad you stopped by, but if there's nothing else, we really need to get ready for our day."
Feb 8, 2017 11:12 pm
Bast approaches the Twi'lek, scratching the back of his head and looking around like he's confused. "Really? Oh, sorry. Can I bum a smoke from one of you first?" He tries to get as close to their group as he can, using the opportunity to look around the rear of the building for any significant details.
Feb 9, 2017 12:11 am
Ishala stays where she is, tapping her foot and looking disapproving, but also looking subtly toward the back of their target building.
Feb 10, 2017 12:36 am
The Twi'lek mumbles something under his breath in his native tongue and relaxes his stance. "It's not a problem." he says, reaching into his pocket. He pulls out pack of smokes and offers one to Bast.

"We've been a bit jumpy recently with those 'resource teams' roaming around town. Had one of our guys go missing not long after our boss had a visit from one of them about a week back."

The back of GHG Heavy Industries appears pretty much as one might expect from that type of facility. There is a single loading dock and several men our loading a small transport. There appear to be just as many cameras in the back of the facility as there were up front.
Feb 10, 2017 12:40 am
At this Ishala walks closer and asks, "You think they grabbed him? I've heard they can get a little rough."
Feb 10, 2017 12:44 am
Bast fits the cigarette between his lips but doesn't ask for a light. He'll stall as long as he can to see what information they can get out of these worker.
Feb 10, 2017 1:18 am
"We can't be sure, of course, but the circumstances seem to be very similar to some of the other stories we've been hearing" the man answers.

"Durho liked to talk and wasn't shy about sharing how he felt about the Imperial presence in Falu. Couple of those thugs showed up to talk to Mr. Ruhak and Durho doesn't show up for work the next day. Hasn't been heard from since."
Feb 10, 2017 10:44 am
"You think Mr. Ruhak is okay with this?" Bast asks, genuinely concerned.
Feb 11, 2017 5:27 pm
"I wouldn't think so" one of the Twi'lek's workmates pipes up. "Mr. Ruhak treats us all pretty well and never showed any animosity towards Durho."

"A good man, Mr. Ruhak. Level headed." another worker joins in. "The only person I've ever seen him get worked up over is that bastard Grewhit. Those two just don't get along!"

Several of the other workers nod in agreement.
Feb 12, 2017 1:59 am
"What's Grewhit's problem?" Bast asks with a smirk, gesturing for a light.
Feb 12, 2017 2:37 am
Obviously getting a little nervous with all of the talk concerning Grewhit the Twi'lek moves in close to give Bast a light. He takes a step back and crosses his arms in front of his chest.

Looking the inquisitive strangers up and down he asks, "What are you two really doing here?"
Feb 12, 2017 3:13 am
Bast takes a puff of the smoke to get it lit, exhaling it out of the corner of his mouth. He shrugs his shoulders in reply, looking indifferent, "Looks to me like I'm getting a cigarette and we're talking about your boss." He glances at Ishala, trying to hide his uncertainty.

In fact his position may place him and his family at greater risk than most. At least we can remove one of the 4 individuals from the list, perhaps we should regroup with the others and see if they have found any further leads on the datapad?"
Feb 16, 2017 9:18 pm
Bast clicks his tongue, clearly frustrated. He looks to Ishala with a bit of a defeated look and admits, "This isn't exactly my expertise."
Feb 16, 2017 10:11 pm
"I have my concerns as well. Let's head back."
Feb 17, 2017 12:56 am
She shrugs, "Me neither. Patch up a wounded Ithorian, or take down a Trandoshan in a knife fight, and I'm your girl. This stuff," she waves vaguely, "That's Xin's specialty. But maybe if we come back later, after dark, we can learn some more. Let's connect with the others and then get some rest."

"Oh good, you're back." I fill Bast and Ishala in on our conversation with the Lectronfire family. "Did you check in on one of the other contacts while we were information-gathering?"
Feb 22, 2017 12:45 am
"Welllll...we did go to GHG Heavy Industries, and got a good look at the outside of the place." She motions to Bast. "Bast chatted up some workers at a nearby store and learned that people who speak out against the Imps have been disappearing."
Feb 22, 2017 6:12 am
"Good job, Xin," Bast says upon their initial return. He gives C6 an affirmative nod as well.

At Ishala's explanation, Bast tries to not look too pleased with himself, "I think that I could probably sneak into GHG to get a closer look, if that's a route we want to take. Their camera setup had a few blind spots."
Feb 23, 2017 5:27 am
"People disappearing, others being paid off to turn in possible rebel sympathizers. This entire situation has taken a decidedly ugly turn. Is this happening because of our success? I never intended to cause this much... distress."

Feb 23, 2017 1:17 pm
Bast frowns, and gives Xin a hard look, "You can't think that it was because of us, Xin. This is hard enough when we're believing we're doing the right thing. This... mistreatment of everyone here would have happened one way or another. The minute anyone gave an officer here a wrong look, it would have turned into a hunt for dissenters and rebels." He shakes his head, "It might not even require that much to spark a violent presence here."

"We're showing people that they don't have to roll over under Imperial rule." He shoves his hands into his pockets, looking around and speaking in a bit of a lower voice, "We're showing them that there's hope. If the Rebellion were here then maybe they'd be doing the same, but we're all we've got right now."
Feb 23, 2017 8:18 pm
Sitting in a corner, connected to a power outlet, C6 listens to the conversation for a moment before interjecting "This is what the empire do best, turn friends and neighbors against one another so they lose sight of the real enemy, all those of us who can see the truth of the matter can do is fight the real fight and who the enemy really is"
Feb 25, 2017 12:18 am
Ishala agrees. "It's right out of their playbook. Label anyone who disagrees as 'traitor', and encourage everyone to watch one another for signs of treason. Turns eyes inward, so they're blind to the actions of the Empire. Gives them an excuse for any atrocity, as means of keeping people safe...which is ironic, since up until now they've been the only ones harming anyone."

"So what do we want to do about the other names on the list? Talk to them, too? Maybe try to keep an eye on one of them?" He frowns, looking around and trying to piece together an idea, "I'd really like to get my hands on Grewhit and ask him a few questions, personally."
Feb 26, 2017 7:45 pm
"I hear what you're saying, although I don't much like it. The question is what to do with this information. I suppose talking with the others couldn't hurt."
Feb 28, 2017 1:28 am
"Perhaps. You seem to have done very well so far. The rest of, though...aren't so good at talking. Maybe we break in to Grewhit's warehouse after dark and take a look around?" Ishala suggests.
Feb 28, 2017 4:34 am
Bast grins. Though he doesn't voice it, he isn't very hard to read; he likes this plan.
Mar 1, 2017 12:14 am
As you continue to discuss your plans, a bit of a commotion can be heard coming from outside of the clinic. Peeking out you see a man in binders, being prodded along by a pair of stormtroopers. A small crowd of citizens follows behind.

"You've got the wrong man!" someone from crowd yells. "There's no way he's a member of that group!"

You can hear several people in the crowd talking in hushed tones back and forth about the Falu Four and how another member has already been taken to the center of town.
Mar 2, 2017 12:21 pm
Bast approaches the nearest protesting civilian and asks, "What's going on here?"
Mar 2, 2017 1:12 pm
"They've captured the Falu Four!"
Mar 2, 2017 1:23 pm
Bast gets a concerned look and stares at the man being dragged away. Eventually he turns and begins walking back inside to the clinic. When he returns to the others inside, he grabs his rifle, slinging it over his shoulder and looking as though he's going to walk right back out into the street with it...

C6 picks up both of his pistols and moves to join Bast, for an expressionless automaton he looks awfully eager.
Mar 2, 2017 4:55 pm
Ishala blocks their way. "Don't be stupid. We rescue him now, everyone will see. Our cover will be blown. We wait and spring him later...when the only witnesses are Imps."
Mar 2, 2017 10:29 pm
Bast's lip tightens, as does his grip on his weapon. He keeps listening to the sounds of struggle and protest outside. "Rescuing him here is going to be a lot easier than breaking into an Imperial facility, and that's assuming we even get there in time for him," Bast says, "Odds are decent they know he's not one of us, and they're just making a show of it."

"If we don't get him now, there's a good chance he won't make it."
Mar 2, 2017 10:48 pm
As Bast finishes C6 pipes up "Well based upon that logic they may be taking these people specifically to draw us out....attacking now may be exactly what they want." he pauses and processes things for a moment "Perhaps we should go to the center of town and see who else has been taken before doing anything?"
Mar 2, 2017 10:56 pm
Bast looks concerned, thinking over the options silently for a few moments before he looks to Ishala and asks, "Do you have any masks in here? Face covers, anything?"

He looks back to C6-9K and adds, "I might be able to sneak to get a vantage on the center of town with my rifle, in case things are looking off. We can keep in touch through the comlinks." He speaks more as though he's offering a course of action, rather than already being decided.
Mar 3, 2017 12:58 am
Ishala pulls out a roll of gauze and expertly wraps Bast's head, carefully leaving his eyes, mouth and ears clear.

"I will take a look and see how things look from the ground....just another droid going about it's business" C6 stashes the heavy blaster pistol in their usual store place and throws the light one into a pack and then heads out of the door, trying to blend in with any of the townspeople heading towards the town center.
OOC:
Not trying to be overly sneaky, just heading the same way anyone else is (assuming there's going to be a crowd heading that way)
Mar 3, 2017 10:23 pm
Quickly dipping into alleyways and ducking behind cover when he feels that it's appropriate Bast is easily able to close in on the center of town without drawing any attention to himself. With just one more block to go to get into position he notices that a ladder has been left leaning against the back of one of the buildings. Easy roof access, should he so choose.
C6-9K seamlessly integrates himself within the small crowd which is following (at a respectable distance, of course) the prisoner and the two stormtroopers. Catching parts of the surrounding conversations it's clear that some of the people are thrilled that the Falu Four are finally being brought to justice. Others, perhaps a small majority within the crowd, are disappointed that the one group resisting the Imperial presence has been caught.
OOC:
Bast has the option of using the ladder to gain a roof access view of the city center (had to do something with all of those advantages). Xin and Ishala may have also integrated with the crowd along with C6-9K if they'd like.

Bast takes the ladder option, climbing his way onto the roof and keeping as low as possible as he approaches the edge to overlook the city center. He pulls his rifle free, and gives it a quick check to make sure everything seems to be functioning. "Radio check. Can you hear me?" He says over his comlink to the others. As he nears the edge of the building, he gets down on his belly and crawls the rest of the way until the streets are in view.
Mar 4, 2017 6:48 am
C6 sends a response back to Bast.
OOC:
Ok, not sure if this is too cheesy or not, I noted the commlink C6 has as being integrated as per the 'Droids and Equipment' call out on page 54 of the AoR core book....I'm assuming that means I could use it without speaking out loud being a droid but wanted to check if that was ok

Will give Moofs a day or two to see what she wants to have Xin do. If we don't hear anything we'll assume Xin is still in the clinic.

In the middle of town, in front of Falu's city hall, three stormtroopers are guarding a man in binders and keeping the growing crowd in check. The troopers you've been following march their prisoner to the same location and give the man a quick smack on the back of the knees, forcing him into a kneeling position next to the other prisoner.

On the steps of city hall stands an imperial officer looking over a datapad while a heavyset man in robes chatters away in his ear. The officer is clearly annoyed with the robed man and continues to do his best to ignore him. The heavyset man looks over the crowd and starts to smile as he addresses them.

"My fellow citizens. Today, thanks to my own careful and harrowing investigation, I have identified the terrorists known as the Falu Four!"

Taking a careful look at the man you instantly recognize him as Grewhit Gen, the owner of GHG Heavy Industries.

"And today we will see, first hand, how terrorists are dealt with!"

The two stormtroopers that you had followed to the center of town get a glance from Imperial officer standing next to Grewhit and immediately head off. With the two troopers in Bast's sight and the three guarding the prisoners you'll soon have five troopers and an Imperial officer in the immediate area.

As soon as Grewhit has had his say the Imperial officer grabs him by the arm and directs his attention to the datapad in his possession. It appears they may be having a bit of an argument.

"It proves that the Empire can get away with whatever they choose… or that money talks" comes a response to Xin's query. The elderly man whom Xin found within the crowd shakes his head slowly. "Grewhit will stop at nothing to remove his enemies."

Once clear of the crowd she heads for the nearest building and walks around it until she is out of sight and then comms Bast, I have an idea. Which pair of stormtroopers are furthest from that crowd? As she speaks she breaks into a jog, heading back to the medical centre.
Mar 15, 2017 2:18 pm
"There's a pair walking away now," Bast whispers into the comlink, staring at them through his rifle sights. He follows up, "Why, Is?"
Mar 15, 2017 11:41 pm
Bast can hear the smile in her voice as she replies quietly, Well, we've got a set of stormtrooper armor. Wouldn't it be great if we had two more? You and I are just the right size...and they're split up right now.
Mar 16, 2017 12:10 pm

The two men on the steps fall quiet as Xin approaches, the Imperial officer giving her a stare. "None of this is of your concern" he says as he continues to stare at the Bothan, waiting for her to take her leave.

Roughly ten meters to its right, C6-9K spots what may provide a suitable distraction should the developing situation call for one. A public communications terminal is available, although it appears someone is making their way towards it.

Bast finds himself a favorable position among the rooftops overlooking the center of the city. He will easily be able to spot Ishala's approach as well as that of the two troopers marching a third prisoner towards their inevitable doom.
OOC:
While Xin was unsuccessful in listening in to the argument Gen and the Imperial officer were having, their attention is now clearly focused on her.

C6-9K calculates that if he hurries he may be able to beat the citizen that's moving towards the terminal so that a distraction can be rigged. Once there a computer or mechanics check (2P) will work to make it burn, smoke, whatever.
Mar 20, 2017 10:35 pm
C6 hurries dodging through the crowd, trying to get ahead of the other citizen, already working through the most probable schematics for the terminal. Reaching it just before the other person he turns to them "Appologies citizen, this communications terminal if]s faulty and requires maintenance" before he turns and starts trying to discretely work on it.
OOC:

Not entirely happy at being crowded out of using the terminal the man nonetheless leaves without making a scene. Unfortunately the terminal C6-9K happened upon was already out of order and his attempt to create a distraction from the malfunctioning terminal proves fruitless.
OOC:
You can flip a point to spot another terminal. Of course the man that had been driven away from the one you're currently at has found the same one you will spot and is currently using it.
Mar 20, 2017 10:57 pm
C6 starts to grumble to himself before moving over to the next terminal, seeing the citizen he previously moved on using it he takes a look around for a way to disrupt the terminal to get him to move along.
OOC:
spent the destiny point, the two options I'm thinking of is either to do something to knock out the terminal or use the blaster pistol to stun him through my pack....neither is a great option, I'm open to suggestions though lol

OOC:
You may be able to walk on the opposite side of the terminal and attempt to do something quick to make it malfunction. How about a 2P1R(GM flip a destiny point from dark to light) Computer/Mechanics check if you want to try that. Stunning him may draw some unwanted attention but would be easy enough to do (and it could be potentially hilarious). :-)

Having successfully gotten the three troopers to turn away, Ishala opens fire from short range and hits nothing but the ground. Almost simultaneously Bast's laser bolt strikes the middle trooper right between the shoulder blades, sending him sprawling forward onto the ground.

The officer, quickly realizing from Ishala's voice, that she's not a stormtrooper raises his pistol to fire only to cringe at the last second as a louder than expected bang rings out from a public comm-terminal.

People in the square start to run for cover or drop prone to the ground in what quickly becomes a chaotic mess. Gen, not one for a fight apparently, attempts to sneak away from the scene unnoticed but Xin still has eyes on the man.

The two troopers who had been escorting a prisoner towards the square race forward, leaving the bound man behind. "One on the roof!" the officer yells to the new arrivals who quickly start to scan the roof lines.

The officer in charge watches intently as the droid approaches babbling on about insurgents. Just as the officer is about to turn his attention back to the Ishala he's hit with a stun blast. Grimacing in pain he refocuses on the droid, raises his blaster, and fires. The incoming bolt hits the droid in his mechanical knee. [8 wounds - soak]

As Xin approaches the troopers guarding the prisoners their focus is clearly on the rooftop shooter. When she starts to point out that more of the insurgents are on their way they slowly start to back away towards the commanding officer. "More incoming, Sir!"

@marithyme: Yes, there are two troopers down, three slowly moving back towards the officer. There are still two troopers (who had escorted a prisoner and then went off to presumably grab another) unaccounted for. None of the prisoners are well known to you, but you're certain that one of men being held is an Imperial sympathizer.

We're at the top of the order!

I turn towards the prisoners and look them over. "Are you able to run?"

C6-9K fires while moving back into the crowd but the attempt to stun the officer fails. Still cowered by the withering suppressing fire provided by Bast the officer doesn't get a chance to fire back and C6-9K is able to find some cover behind the trunk of a decent sized tree.

Xin queries the two remaining prisoners about their ability to move but neither responds. Each seemingly convinced that lying still on the ground gives them a better chance at surviving the fire fight.
OOC:
Sorry MoMo, I missed your question about having others gain a boost when attacking the officer. I went with the fire being intense enough that he basically spent his turn cowering. Maybe a little severe, but hey…

OOC:
Maneuver to Stim for 5 Wounds recovered. Suffering 2 Strain to aim, and then firing at the officer. Assuming medium range?

Edit: Should be 12 damage before Soak. I'd like to spend the advantage to find some relief in successfully hitting him, and recover a Strain.

Feeling the full force of Bast's attack, the officer drops to his hands and knees. Weapon now on the ground besides him.

You have a clear line of sight to both the cluster of troopers and the officer. The other two troopers are still missing in action, but will most likely return at just the wrong moment.

I still have Ishala ducked into an alleyway, so she's in cover as it is (like peeking around the corner kinda)

Dropping down into cover, Ishala fires off an aimed stun round at the officer only to overshoot an easy short range shot. A quick inspection of her weapon reveals that the barrel has sustained some minor damage during the firefight and will need some proper repairs in the near future.

Turning to face the latest threat the troopers spray the area in and around the boulder with fire but only manage to put a few holes in the ground.
OOC:
Xin has the last PC action of the round, then whoever wants can take the first action of the next round.

Ishala's weapon has sustained Minor Damage. Each time she uses it she'll need to add a single setback die. (Details on repairing weapons can be found on page 172). I used her 2 advantage to add a setback die to the trooper's attack.

And guest starring as Xin in tonight's episode is szemely!! *polite applause*

Making the prisoners her priority Xin pleads with both to get up and run away, telling them that once this firefight has completed the Imperials will most likely look to make some sort of violent statement. The prisoners, however, will have none of it and totally ignore her pleas.

From her position behind a boulder Ishala can see that the other two storm troopers are quickly working their way back to the scene.

OOC:
Just an in-character way of asking, "Who do I shoot, guys?" :)
Apr 7, 2017 11:40 pm
C6 blurts over the comms "Clearing some of the troopers would seem the logical choice before their numbers are reinforced"
Apr 8, 2017 12:15 am
Bast grits his teeth, shifting his aim away from the officer as he fires a volley of red blasts at the troopers.
OOC:
I'm assuming Medium Range! Suffering 2 Strain (again) to take an extra Aim maneuver.

11 damage, and I'd like to Crit them twice (Hopefully killing two right off the bat, if they're minions), and use the last Advantage to heal off a Strain.

Ranged (Heavy)

Taking careful aim Bast's hail of bolts strikes two of the troopers hard, sending each sprawling to the ground. The officer, realizing things are not going to end well at the current rate, yells out to the remaining trooper, "Cease fire!!"

He struggles to his feet and locks his hands behind his head. The remaining trooper lowers his weapon and lets it fall from his hands and onto the ground.
OOC:
I think if one were to activate a weapon's critical feature twice it counts as a single critical with a +10 to the roll (basically becoming a Vicious-1). Either way, with one crit and 11 damage into the minion group two of the bucket heads hit the ground.

So we have one officer and one trooper attempting to surrender and two troopers (that only Ishala has seen) approaching.

OOC:
Yes! So, when hitting a Nemesis or Rival with a crit and activating it multiple times, it just adds +10 for each one. I just know from experience that the typical Storm Trooper is usually a Minion type enemy. When hitting a group of Minions, any crit automatically kills/incapacitates one minion, and then the damage is applied. So two crits would automatically kill two troopers,
and then the damage would be applied to the last. If they were rivals/nemeses then I could only target one of them with the attack in the first place. This is all by my understanding/memory, anywho, and I don't currently have the book around for me to double check.
Apr 8, 2017 9:52 pm
Ishala rushes up and collects their weapons and belts, kicking them out of reach. She stands behind the officer and remaining trooper and assesses the situation. "Tell the other two to stand down as well," she directs the officer, pitching her voice lower than usual.
OOC:
Is the crowd still there? What about the conspirator business guy?
Apr 9, 2017 12:59 am
Even though he's been severely injured, the officer doesn't take well to being ordered about by rebel scum. He looks up at Ishala and growls, "Tell them yourself!"

The two remaining prisoners, realizing that the shooting has stopped, pick themselves up and make a run for it. In the distance you can hear the telltale sirens of the Falu Security Forces, it won't be long before they're on the scene.
OOC:
At this point the crowd has pretty much dissipated, Grewhit took off running when the shots starting ringing out. The two troopers will be returning in three more 'actions'.

Anyone can act (in any order)
Apr 9, 2017 5:14 am
Bast, still unaware of any more troopers, keeps an eye on Ishala, the officer, and the scene playing out there. He keeps his finger on the trigger, ready to provide covering fire when the need arises.
Apr 9, 2017 8:02 am
C6 jogs back over towards Ishala and the Imperials and gathers all of their weapons "I think we should make a swift exit" he says to Ishala as he see's the prisoners making a run for it.
Apr 9, 2017 11:34 pm
To the arrogant officer Ishala shrugs and says, "Okay," and then stuns him at close range. She comms Bast, There are two more incoming." She turns her attention to the two stormtroopers who surrendered, "You are free to go, as long as you take your other two friends with you." She nudges the fallen officer with a foot. "This pile of Hutt scum is staying with us, to make sure you behave yourselves. Go tell your leaders that this town is under our protection. We won't tolerate people being kidnapped or hurt."

Ishala turns to Xin and shouts, "What are you looking at? Get out of here! This is none of your business."
OOC:
If all that is too much, feel free to cut me off at any point.
Apr 10, 2017 10:42 pm
The last remaining trooper nods to Ishala and in a low voice simply responds "Understood". He hesitantly gets to his feet, keeping his eyes on the medic the entire time, and when he's convinced that it is actually safe for him to leave, he wastes no time in fleeing the scene.
OOC:
Is the plan to take the officer back to the medical clinic?
Apr 10, 2017 11:56 pm
OOC:
Open to suggestions, but would rather not burn our home base. Was thinking an abandoned building on the opposite side of town to where the Imps usually land.
Apr 11, 2017 2:47 am
OOC:
When you all decided I'll go ahead and move it along. Just remember that it is day time and dragging an unconscious Imperial officer around with you is likely to draw some attention. :-)
Apr 11, 2017 6:46 am
OOC:
Could blindfold him?
Apr 11, 2017 9:11 am
C6 limps over with the gathered weapons, a few lose sparks occasionally spitting out from the blaster hole in his torso "I would su...KRTZZZ...gest leaving the officer, it wil..wil..will draw undue attention trying to transport him"
OOC:
How many guns did I get? Was it 4 Blaster Rifles?
Apr 11, 2017 7:44 pm
Ishala sighs then nods, "You're right. Let's get out of here." She scoops up the officer's datapad and any obvious devices or communicators.
Apr 14, 2017 9:48 pm
C6 gathers three of the blaster rifles and the officer's blaster pistol while Ishala grabs the datapads and the comm unit from the officer. They both make their way out of the square just as members of the Falu Security Force arrive. Xin, still on the scene, is approached by two of these officers.

A human female officer with short dark hair extends her hand in greeting. "I'm Officer Mucecud and this is Recruit Sofor" she says, motioning to her very young looking partner. "Can you tell us what transpired here today?"

From his rooftop location overlooking the square Bast can see the two officers talking with Xin while the few other citizens that still remain are being questioned as well.
OOC:
Ishala and C6 heading to the clinic then?
Apr 14, 2017 9:54 pm
OOC:
yeah that's what I was thinking, maybe best to split up though....C6 would be on the look out for something to put the blasters in to transport them though
Apr 15, 2017 1:10 am
Ishala splits off from C6 once they're out of sight of the square, after suggesting quietly, "Find somewhere to stash those. Best we lie low for the rest of the day, and meet at our base later tonight." She then heads through some alleyways until she is confident is is neither being followed nor surveilled, then takes of the armor again and tucks it into her bag before heading back to the clinic. She comms Bast via text, Nice shooting, soldier. Do you need patching up?
Apr 15, 2017 2:08 am
Bast, still keeping an eye on Xin, takes a look at his comm to see Ishala's message. With one eye still in the sight, he uses the other to key in a reply:

I'll be alright. Thanks. Xin talking to guards. Keeping an eye on her.
Apr 17, 2017 2:32 pm
Back at the clinic, Ishala washes up at the sink then heads to the waiting room to see if there are any patients that need to be seen. On the way there she replies, Is she doing okay? I did what I could to set her up as an innocent bystander.
Apr 18, 2017 3:14 pm
I look flustered, at times terrified as I give my statement. "To be honest, I'm not sure. It all happened so fast, first I was heading towards the assembly like everyone else, then some of the guards started firing at an officer and people were saying it was an ambush by the Falu Four... everyone was running..."

Bast doesn't take the time to send another message to Ishala, keeping a careful, protective eye over Xin.
Apr 18, 2017 11:32 pm
"The Falu Four?" Officer Mucecud asks, clearly perplexed by the statement.

"I had heard the Imps were in the process of rounding up that lot?" she asks her partner who simply shrugs his shoulders in reply.

"Fat lot of good...." she mumbles under her breath, turning her attention back to Xin.

"We'd like to take you with us to the precinct to get an official statement. The idea that the Falu Four somehow ambushed their own roundup would be of interest to our captain."
As Bast watches in on Xin, he notices that several of the other people being interviewed point towards his rooftop location.
OOC:
Going to need a 3P Stealth check from ya

Just as Ishala enters the waiting room the front door crashes open. A male human, clutching his shoulder, stumbles forward into the room. "I've been shot" he says roughly, motioning with his chin towards his arm, before collapsing on the floor.
C6-9K is able to find a long coat that someone had lost in the confusion of the ambush and quickly wraps it around the 'newly acquired' weapons for concealment. As he starts to make his way to the clinic a voice from behind calls out, "Droid! I think you have my coat!"
Apr 19, 2017 12:09 am
OOC:
Is there anyone else in the waiting room? Looking for someone to help me carry him to the exam room (more sterile).
Apr 19, 2017 12:12 am
OOC:
It's just him at the moment. I guess we should determine if Doctor Marh employs others at her clinic or if she runs the show by herself.
Apr 19, 2017 12:14 am
OOC:
I'd imagine she'd have a receptionist if this place is at all busy. Docs don't tend to like to do that work themselves.
Apr 19, 2017 12:19 am
From behind the desk the receptionist looks at Ishala and in a calm tone says, "I think he's hurt."
OOC:
And who is this receptionist that works at your clinic?
Apr 19, 2017 7:20 am
As C6 is walking away he turns his head 180 degrees to face the figure behind him "I believe you are mist...KRTZZ....mistaken friend citizen. This is my masters outer garment"

He is a Gran named Ossum Vaa. He is very good at putting the patients at ease, but has a sardonic sense of humor he only uses with Ishala.
"Yeah, well, getting shot will do that to a being. Can you come help me lift him into the exam room?"
Apr 19, 2017 11:16 pm
"I don't think so, Droid!" responds the slightly pissed off looking Duros. "Just check the pocket, my work ID and 15 or so credits are in it."

The Duros starts to walk quickly towards C6-9K in an attempt to close the distance between them, but stumbles on a crack on the walkway. "Damned city!" he mutters before regaining his balance and continuing to approach.
OOC:
You are now at Medium range from the Duros. If you plan to make a break for it give me an normal (2P) Athletics check with a single setback die for all of the weapons you're hauling around.

Getting as low to the roof as possible so as not to be spotted Bast's quickly realizes that his cover has been blown. Officers can be heard barking out orders and the unmistakable sounds of heavy approaching footsteps can be heard.
OOC:
You can hear that officers are approaching the building that you're on top of. It won't be terribly long before they'll find their way up!

"Of course, Doctor" Ossum responds, gently lifting the man to a sitting position on the floor. He crouches and positions himself under the man's uninjured arm, "Let's go, Big Guy" he says quietly and with Ishala's help stands the man up, and manages to get him onto the exam table.

The man is in and out of consciousness and from just a preliminary look at the wound Ishala can tell that her patient is in pretty bad shape.
OOC:
Let's have a 3P medicine check with a single boost die if Ossum is assisting to get the man stabilized and determine his condition.

With her patient stabilized Ishala starts to look over the man's wound. It's clearly fresh and with the recent skirmish in the center of town it would be safe to surmise that Dr. Marh's patient was more than likely just an innocent bystander. As she opens the man's shirt she can clearly see that the wound is a result of blaster fire, penetrating the chest just below the collar bone.

What really catches the doctor's eyes, however, are the number of previous wounds that scar the man's torso. He's been hit before, a lot. And judging from the rough scaring that resulted it appears that several of the wounds were, at best, self-treated. His breathing starts to regulate and his eyes slowly half open, "How is it, Doctor?" he asks roughly.
Keeping low and doing his best to keep out of sight, Bast reaches the bottom of the fire escape just in time to avoid the officers rounding the back side of the building. Ducking into an alleyway he rips off his gauze and as he starts to head away from the commotion he hears a high pitched voice from above.

"You OK, Mister?"

Above, a young Twi'lek girl peers out of window. "It looks like you're hurt."
Try as he might, C6-9K is unable to outpace the Duros, who now has the droid trapped in an alley way. "Just give me my damned coat, Droid!" he yells, grabbing one of the loose sleeves, and giving it a hard yank.
OOC:

Quickly assessing the situation and realising he doesn't stand much chance of overpowering the Duros he decides on a difference tack. Ishala smiles reassuringly at him, "Nothing a bacta patch and plenty of rest won't cure. May I proceed? I'm Dr. Marh, by the way." She turns to gather her supplies as she waits for his response.
Apr 27, 2017 11:14 pm
Bast startles, and for the first time since his stimpack injection, he seems to notice the pain in his side. He raises a hand to hold it briefly. "It's dangerous out here," he says to the girl, ignoring that she may have seen him pull off his mask, "Stay inside until it quiets down, alright?" The damage, if any, has been done, and there was little he could do to mitigate it right now.
Apr 29, 2017 9:48 pm
Xin is escorted away by officers Mucecud and Sofor who casually chat amongst themselves.

"You don't think we're going to get another visit from the Imps, do ya?" the young recruit asks Mucecud.

Looking slightly annoyed at her partner's casual reference to the Imperials Mirach stops in her tracks and simply stares at the man for a moment.

"Let's see… several dead troopers, one dead officer, and it happened under our watch. Yep, they're coming alright, and they are most likely on their way. Not going to be a fun time."
OOC:
Xin is simply walking behind the officers as they head towards the station. She's not bound or even being closely watched.

With a look of panic on his face the Duros stands completely stunned, coat in hand, as weapons rain to the ground. His head glances quickly back and forth to judge the reaction of anyone who may have witnessed the proceedings. His relief is evident when he notices that no one has paid any attention to the droid.

"Nice try" he smirks, throwing his long coat on over his shoulders before taking a long look at C6. A wry smile crosses his lips and he says, "You were involved in that shootout, weren't you?" His smile widens as he adds, "I wonder if the FSF is looking for you yet?"
"Just a patch, eh?" the man says with a sigh of relief. "Good to know, good to know… thought it may have been serious this time around." He rolls his head from side to side, clearly investigating the room. "Nice place you have here Doctor Mare" he says, mispronouncing Ishala's name. "But the sooner I can get out of here, the better."
"Only dangerous if you're being chased" the little girl responds, obviously much more observant than one would expect from a child of her age. "Who are you running from?"
Apr 29, 2017 11:37 pm
"Eehh.." Bast sounds, looking uneasy. He tries to think up a lie, but by the time he thinks of anything decent, his long pause has blown his cover. "Look, I don't want to get you in trouble, kid. The less you know, the better, right?" His tone, and expression, is almost like he's negotiating with a peer, rather than insisting. He does, however, at least have the sense to keep an ear out for any signs of his pursuers.
Apr 30, 2017 11:28 pm
Ishala smiles, "This time, indeed. I can see this is not your first tussle. Were you involved in that fracas I heard a little while ago?" She holds up a hand, "You don't have to tell me, of course. But know that anything you share is doctor-patient privilege, and I'm not allowed to tell anyone, most especially the authorities." She begins patching the wound and then taping it over to hold the dressing in place.
May 1, 2017 6:29 am
C6 bends down to pick up one of the blasters "Oh I am sure I do not know what you are referring to citizen....unfounded accusations can be unsettling however" he says as he angles one of the blasters at the Duros and pulls the trigger.
OOC:
Blow it, if no one's paying attention to the blasters hitting the deck I may as well try and resolve the situation, I'd like to use the Advantage I got on the last roll to say it's more difficult for people to hear/see the shot due to where we're situated (close to a busy intersection/nois factory or something similar).....should have expected that really lol

Blaster Shot (stun)

May 6, 2017 12:24 am
The young girl looks Bast up and down and a sly smile starts to cross her face. "Good bye!" she says, ducking back into the window. Just at that moment Bast hears two people approaching from the direction he was heading. Two juvenile Twi'leks, one male, one female, approach with knives is hand.

"How about handing over some credits there, Mister?"

Neither of the Twi'leks are intimidating in stature and the knives they wield are old and rusty.
The man winces a bit as Ishala applies the dressing. "I do tend to find myself on the wrong end of a blaster now and again" he says with a bit of a chuckle.

The man looks around the room once again, carefully taking in his surroundings, and casts a long glance at Ossum before turning his attention back to Ishala.

"My involvement in the fracas started and ended with the wound you're patching up" he says, a hint of disappointment in his voice. "Had heard that members of that vigilante group were being rounded up."

He slowly sits up so that he is face to face with Ishala. Lowering his voice he continues, "A couple of us headed down to the square to at least put up a bit of a fight, see if there was something we could do to stop the Imps." He leans back onto the table and takes a deep breath. "Looks like someone else beat us to it; and did a better job than we would 'ave."
The Duros doesn't miss the highly telegraphed moves of C6-9K and effortlessly rolls to his right, drawing a small weapon of his own as he does. Aiming the weapon he pulls the trigger, hitting the droid with a stunning blast of energy. "Damned droid!" he mutters, pistol still in hand and aimed at C6. "Drop that thing before you get hurt!"
As Xin is escorted into the precinct she sees several other people that appear to being questioned, presumably about the proceedings which occurred in the center of town. Several of those being questioned stop and point Xin out as she walks by and is led into an interrogation room.

She is offered snacks and a beverage of her choice and after several minutes an FSF officer walks into the room. Smiling at Xin he sits across from here at the table and quickly checks his datapad. "You're Xin Kithes, are you not?"

C6 turns and starts trying to make good his getaway whilst shouting "HELP! One of the Falau 4 is after me!"
OOC:
Not too sure how much Strain is coming my way from that shot but will use his threat to get a boost die, taking a shot then using my maneuver to move to long range not taking a second maneuver as I'm not wanting to risk the strain hit

Finally something goes right! That's 7 Strain to the Duros, can I use the advantages to get him to let me flee as he's not wanting to draw attention to himself?

Bast holds up his hands defensively, his features darkening a bit. "This isn't necessary," Bast argues, "I've barely got anything on me."

"If you want credits, I've got a better idea. Hear me out?"
May 8, 2017 3:15 am
"That I am. And what, may I ask, is your name? Before we begin, and I apologize for interrupting so soon, but by any chance are you familiar with the officers who had patrolled the area of that unfortunate morning's event the other day? I only ask because I had gotten horribly lost on a walk around that time, and never had a chance to thank those men and ask as to their well-being. These are difficult times for all of us. My hope is that the imperial forces are not impeding the great work that our local security forces continue to provide to our district. It is, of course, of paramount importance to take care of our own, do you not agree?" I calmly clasp my hands on the table in front of me and tilt my head upwards towards the one posing the questions.
May 8, 2017 9:20 am
With a straight face she replies, "Apparently they arrested the wrong people."

She smiles and puts a hand on the man's shoulder, "That was very brave what you did, you and your friends. The town needs more people like you. If any of you need patching up again, you know where to find me."

So softly that Ossum cannot hear she continues, "And I may know some people who would want to meet you."

She turns to begin cleaning up the supplies before speaking normally again, "You're good to go. It was nice to meet you...?"
May 10, 2017 11:36 pm
C6 should have taken 6-Soak strain. Sorry, had it in my notes and never typed it in…

C6's shot hits the Dorus dead on, causing him to roll back in pain. "Are you malfunctioning?" he screams, "Just drop that weapon and leave before we both get in trouble!"

He jumps to his feet, takes a quick look around, and raises his blaster towards the droid. Reconsidering he shakes his head and lowers his weapon. "Just get the hell out of here" he grumbles before racing off in the same direction as C6 was originally headed.
The Twi'leks both stand in stunned silence, not sure what to make of Bast's offer. Finally the male readies his blade and starts to move forward before the female grabs him by the arm.

"Wait, wait, wait…" she says, slowly dragging her partner back towards her.

"Let's at least hear him out. If we don't like what he has to offer we can always go back to gutting him." While her words seem confident, her body language is telling you that she's more than a little scared.
"Captain Reager, Ma'am" the officer calmly responds to Xin's question. He leans in just a touch, his elbows resting on the table. "The two officers assigned to the sector where the morning ambush transpired are on administrative leave." he says, studying Xin's response. "They left their post and came up with some story of how they were purposely led away by someone who must have known the ambush was about to occur."

He leans back in his chair and crosses his arms. "Didn't really believe them…. Until now…"

After a few seconds of silence he asks, "So what is your involvement with the so called Falu Four?"
OOC:
Feel free to make a Deception/Charm/Other check as applicable depending on what your trying to do with your response. The difficulty will be 2R1P against his Vigilance

"Kyle Bastra" the man says. Pulling his bloodied shirt back over his shoulder he buttons up and continues the conversation. "There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity and it's one that my associates and I have crossed too many times. Speaking of associates, if you happen to get a visit from a Duros with a long coat, you can tell him Kyle will meet him at the usual place."

He once again gives a glance over to Ossum before approaching Ishala and asking, "What kind of people?"

C6 takes advantage of the departing Duros and turns and takes a slightly more circuitous route back to the clinic.

Bast's expression changes from a pleading one to one of confidence, "Well, lets be fair. I've got a rifle here. Wouldn't be much gutting, right?" Despite his goofy grin, he realizes that this may not be the best tone to take when trying to form a deal, and so he quickly changes it.

Taking on a more serious facial expression, he holds out a hand, palm towards them, as though to still encourage them to wait for his deal. He then explains, "Look, you two got the jump on me pretty good just now, yeah? I don't want to hurt anyone, and if you could get paid regardless, I doubt you'd want to hurt anyone either." He grins, getting to the crux of the argument, "Turns out I could use a couple of smart, inconspicuous ki-.. agents. I could hire you."

"Be my eyes and ears for the things that I need to know about, and I'll throw good credits your way for good information."

Taking the scenic route, C6-9K is able to reach the clinic without further incident. As you enter, Ossum rushes to the front desk thinking another patient has arrived. "Oh. It's only you" he says flatly as soon as he lays his eyes on the droid.

Walking to a supply closet he starts to gather some supplies and without turning to address C6-9K simply says, "Dr. Mahr is in the back with a patient. You'll have to wait." With equipment in hand he starts to clean what appear to be a rather large amount of blood from the floor.
The two young Twi'leks take a moment to consider Bast's offer, each eventually sheathing their weapons as they have a hushed discussion. Eventually the female turns to face Bast and asks, "How about a little down payment? Say…. 40 credits to bring us aboard. You tell us what kind of information you're looking for and we'll see what we can find out for you."
May 16, 2017 9:20 am
Ishala nods in response to Kyle's request. She hesitates a moment before answering his question, and sighs with relief when Ossum rushes out of the room. She looks the man squarely in the eyes and states, "The kind of friends who are sick of the how the Imperials are treating the people of this town. Friends who think that maybe the Falu Four are doing the right thing by standing up to them."
May 16, 2017 12:08 pm
"Hey, that's fair," Bast says with a smile, "Look, I'll make it fifty, as a show of good faith."

"Might be you're thinking you can run off with it. Yeah, that's true. Sure. Just know that if you don't, and if you work with me on this, there'll be more." Bast lectures tossing the creds over to the pair. "I'm looking for information on the Imperials' hunt for the Falu Four. Anything you can find out about them, what they're doing, who they're talking to, who they're paying... that's information I need."
May 18, 2017 2:34 am
"Purposely led away? Well, it's good to hear that they are at least in good health. I heard so many rumors of casualties, I worried for their safety. I am, of course, familiar with the Falu Four. You would have to live under quite trying circumstances to not have at least heard of that group. Their methods are most troubling. Those who know me well are aware of my feelings on violence. Violence of any kind should be avoided. In fact, my father once told me..." I continue recounting childhood tales, bookended by my philosophy on non-violence and how it could change the galaxy for the better. It's even more eloquent than the speech I gave that allowed for my election. Once I'm done there are tears in my eyes as I thank the men for their service in helping to keep the peace.

"Sounds like the type of people we'd like to meet" Kyle responds in a hushed tone, a slight smile forming on his lips. "Anyone that's willing to stand up to what's going…" a communicator in his pocket breaks squelch and he quickly scrambles to retrieve it.

"Where are you, Bastra?" a rough voice asks loudly over the communicator. He nods, slightly embarrassed, to Ishala, before turning away and raising the communicator closer to his face, audibly wincing as he does.

"Got hit and had to get some help. I'll meet up with you at the normal place" he says, quickly turning off the device before the person on the other end can respond. He goes to slip it back into his pocket and pauses for a moment, fidgeting with the device for moment before turning back to Ishala.

"Tell ya what, Doctor. Here's my communicator code, if you'd be willing to set up some sort of meeting, I'd appreciate it. You can just hit me with the details when you're ready."
The female Twi'lek snatches the tossed credits out of the air in a swift clean motion. Smiling as she tosses the loot repeatedly up and down in her hand she confidently approaches Bast. "I'm Suwwava and this is Niscrina" she says, motioning behind her.

Niscrina shuffles quickly up from behind and whispers loudly, "Why did you give him our real names!!"

"It's only fair our boss knows our names, isn't it?" she says flashing Bast a toothy grin. "Tell ya what, Boss. Why don't you come and see us in a few days. Just yell to Zibu up there and she'll come and get us" she points up to the window where the little Twi'lek girl has reappeared. "In the meantime we'll do some snooping for you and see what we can find."
Captain Reager listens patiently to Xin's stories shifting in his chair slightly as she continues. While the stories don't appear to move him, he does appear to be growing frustrated with their length and lack of any information pertaining to the questions at hand. When Xin finishes, Reager lets out a long sigh, leans forward, and set his forehead into the palm of his hand.

"Officer Mucecud!"" he yells out after a few moments of awkward silence.

"Yes, Sir!?" the officer responds as she rushes into the room.

"Could you escort Miss Kithes to the exit. This has been a huge waste of time." he says, head still in the palm of his hand.

Mucecud offers Xin an apologetic smile, "Follow me, Ma'am, if you would, and we'll get you on your way" As soon as Mucecud and Xin are out of earshot the officer leans in and says, "That was pretty impressive. I've never seen anyone handle Reager like that before. You'll have to teach me your secret."

She throws Xin a wink and escorts her out of the building. "Have a nice day, Ma'am."
May 26, 2017 1:08 am
"Call me what you like," Bast says, returning the grin with a big, goofy one of his own, "But this is a partnership, alright?" He looks up toward Zibu and gives her a mock salute. "Just don't get yourselves in any danger. The information is certainly useful, but it isn't worth your necks." After that he gives a wave and turns, calling out to them, "I'll see you in a few days."

Bast is quiet at first. Contemplative, perhaps. When he speaks up as Ishala starts to look over C6-9K, he's sounding a bit mellow, "Hey, uh... thanks. Everyone. Going out there was a big risk. I know everyone here knows it. But.. thanks." He offers a small smile, "I'm glad we didn't let anyone take the punishment meant for us."
May 30, 2017 11:43 pm
Ishala looks up from working on C6 with a mildly incredulous expression, "Of course we wouldn't let anyone else be punished. That's why we started this in the first place, right? Stopping the Imps from treating this town like their personal slave pen."
May 31, 2017 12:10 pm
"Yeah, no, I.." Bast sighs, "Yeah, I get that." He scratches at his chin, trying to form the words in his mind, "I guess what I mean to say is that... well... I wasn't sure. I knew what I was doing this for. But, when I went out there, I didn't know who else would be following me."

"But," He says hesitantly, "Not that I didn't trust you three." Bast twists his face up a bit into a wince, "Eh, I should stop talking. You're all good people, I mean to say."
May 31, 2017 4:22 pm
I smile. "Officer Mucecud, I'm sure I don't know what you mean. Have a nice day, regardless. May the rest of your day be less eventful." I take a long, circuitous route back towards the clinic, just in case anyone decides to follow.
May 31, 2017 5:30 pm
At the 'good people' comment C6 gives Bast a flat look before turning back to look at Ishla's progress.
OOC:
I'm pretty sure Mechanic to first aid a droid still counts the restriction of only getting the benefit of 1 check per week so I've added a boost die to the original post to reflect Ishla's assistance if that's ok
May 31, 2017 9:50 pm
Xin makes her way back to the clinic and while she can't be absolutely sure, she's fairly confident that she hasn't been followed.
OOC:
Boost die will work, mcneil.

At this point the four of you have all made your way back to Ishala's clinic. It's late in the afternoon.
Jun 5, 2017 12:06 am
Ishala sees C6's look and smiles up at him, saying softly, "He means you, too, Cook."

As she finishes up her work, she asks Xin, "How did it go at the station? Do they suspect you at all?"
Jun 5, 2017 1:51 am
"Suspect me? Why, we had a lovely chat. How about you all? Not too 'roughed up' I hope?"
Jun 5, 2017 1:57 am
"Nothing that needs any immediate attention," Bast says quietly. "I'm glad you're alright, Xin."
Jun 6, 2017 9:23 pm
Ishala looks at Bast with narrowed eyes. "I'm not buying that bloddle, soldier. Let a professional take a look and make that judgement." She moves to inspect his wounds.
Jun 7, 2017 11:17 am
Bast, caught in his downplaying of the events, stumbles for words that do not come. Instead, he merely submits to Ishala's examination, moving as she needs, "Ah, well... Alright, doc."
OOC:

Well C6 is still pretty battered so he's not really going to be up for doing much....he will probably just be sat monitoring local new's broadcasts and similar to see what the fall out from today's excursion has been
Jun 9, 2017 7:04 pm
OOC:
Alright, let's assume that the four of you go about your business for the next few days or so (heal all Strain and say three Wounds during the down time). In a day or two I'll lock down this thread and we'll move onto part two.

....the next day....

"After the confrontation yesterday, a local tough came in. He got caught by a stray bolt. He said that he and his friends went to the square to try and rescue those people, the ones the Imperials rounded up in our place. Seemed pretty passionate about wanting to stand up to them...so I took a chance and told him I had some friends that might like to meet him. I know small is safer...but I think about what we could do with more..."
Jun 16, 2017 12:25 pm
C6 waits until after Ishala has finished her recap, processing her words for a moment before responding "I would advise caution, this could very well be an imperial trap."

"He was best friends with a non-human, which would be highly unusual for an Imperial. Plus, subtle isn't usually their style," Ishala says sardonically.

Her tone changes as she continues, "But I can't discount a trap, which is why I didn't tell him much and wanted to talk to all of you first. I propose we limit contact, so that he doesn't know about all of us. I was thinking perhaps he and his friends could help us break into that warehouse. If we don't all go, he can't betray the whole group. I can go on my own, so that you two can rest."
Jun 18, 2017 3:34 am
"I myself noticed there were some that were sympathetic to our cause. Imperials are not looked upon fondly, and for good reason. We'll need allies regardless. Our days as the unknown Four are numbered."
Jun 18, 2017 8:42 am
Bast nods his head in agreement with Xin, "As much as I'd like to, we won't win this alone." He looks back to Ishala and says, "It's a good plan, but definitely don't go alone. Someone should go with you."
Jun 18, 2017 9:35 am
C6 nods in agreement "I would suggest Bast accompany you as he is the most capable if the situation turns into a combat scenario. Myself and Xin could wait a short distance away in case the cavalry is required."

She pauses as she remembers C6's injuries, "But I understand if you prefer not to."
Jun 20, 2017 2:34 pm
