The Last Ambush

Bast holds up his hands defensively, his features darkening a bit. "This isn't necessary," Bast argues, "I've barely got anything on me."

"If you want credits, I've got a better idea. Hear me out?"
May 8, 2017 3:15 am
"That I am. And what, may I ask, is your name? Before we begin, and I apologize for interrupting so soon, but by any chance are you familiar with the officers who had patrolled the area of that unfortunate morning's event the other day? I only ask because I had gotten horribly lost on a walk around that time, and never had a chance to thank those men and ask as to their well-being. These are difficult times for all of us. My hope is that the imperial forces are not impeding the great work that our local security forces continue to provide to our district. It is, of course, of paramount importance to take care of our own, do you not agree?" I calmly clasp my hands on the table in front of me and tilt my head upwards towards the one posing the questions.

With a straight face she replies, "Apparently they arrested the wrong people."

She smiles and puts a hand on the man's shoulder, "That was very brave what you did, you and your friends. The town needs more people like you. If any of you need patching up again, you know where to find me."

So softly that Ossum cannot hear she continues, "And I may know some people who would want to meet you."

She turns to begin cleaning up the supplies before speaking normally again, "You're good to go. It was nice to meet you...?"

C6 should have taken 6-Soak strain. Sorry, had it in my notes and never typed it in…

C6's shot hits the Dorus dead on, causing him to roll back in pain. "Are you malfunctioning?" he screams, "Just drop that weapon and leave before we both get in trouble!"

He jumps to his feet, takes a quick look around, and raises his blaster towards the droid. Reconsidering he shakes his head and lowers his weapon. "Just get the hell out of here" he grumbles before racing off in the same direction as C6 was originally headed.
The Twi'leks both stand in stunned silence, not sure what to make of Bast's offer. Finally the male readies his blade and starts to move forward before the female grabs him by the arm.

"Wait, wait, wait…" she says, slowly dragging her partner back towards her.

"Let's at least hear him out. If we don't like what he has to offer we can always go back to gutting him." While her words seem confident, her body language is telling you that she's more than a little scared.
"Captain Reager, Ma'am" the officer calmly responds to Xin's question. He leans in just a touch, his elbows resting on the table. "The two officers assigned to the sector where the morning ambush transpired are on administrative leave." he says, studying Xin's response. "They left their post and came up with some story of how they were purposely led away by someone who must have known the ambush was about to occur."

He leans back in his chair and crosses his arms. "Didn't really believe them…. Until now…"

After a few seconds of silence he asks, "So what is your involvement with the so called Falu Four?"
OOC:
Feel free to make a Deception/Charm/Other check as applicable depending on what your trying to do with your response. The difficulty will be 2R1P against his Vigilance

"Kyle Bastra" the man says. Pulling his bloodied shirt back over his shoulder he buttons up and continues the conversation. "There's a fine line between bravery and stupidity and it's one that my associates and I have crossed too many times. Speaking of associates, if you happen to get a visit from a Duros with a long coat, you can tell him Kyle will meet him at the usual place."

He once again gives a glance over to Ossum before approaching Ishala and asking, "What kind of people?"

C6 takes advantage of the departing Duros and turns and takes a slightly more circuitous route back to the clinic.

Bast's expression changes from a pleading one to one of confidence, "Well, lets be fair. I've got a rifle here. Wouldn't be much gutting, right?" Despite his goofy grin, he realizes that this may not be the best tone to take when trying to form a deal, and so he quickly changes it.

Taking on a more serious facial expression, he holds out a hand, palm towards them, as though to still encourage them to wait for his deal. He then explains, "Look, you two got the jump on me pretty good just now, yeah? I don't want to hurt anyone, and if you could get paid regardless, I doubt you'd want to hurt anyone either." He grins, getting to the crux of the argument, "Turns out I could use a couple of smart, inconspicuous ki-.. agents. I could hire you."

"Be my eyes and ears for the things that I need to know about, and I'll throw good credits your way for good information."

Taking the scenic route, C6-9K is able to reach the clinic without further incident. As you enter, Ossum rushes to the front desk thinking another patient has arrived. "Oh. It's only you" he says flatly as soon as he lays his eyes on the droid.

Walking to a supply closet he starts to gather some supplies and without turning to address C6-9K simply says, "Dr. Mahr is in the back with a patient. You'll have to wait." With equipment in hand he starts to clean what appear to be a rather large amount of blood from the floor.
The two young Twi'leks take a moment to consider Bast's offer, each eventually sheathing their weapons as they have a hushed discussion. Eventually the female turns to face Bast and asks, "How about a little down payment? Say…. 40 credits to bring us aboard. You tell us what kind of information you're looking for and we'll see what we can find out for you."
May 16, 2017 9:20 am
Ishala nods in response to Kyle's request. She hesitates a moment before answering his question, and sighs with relief when Ossum rushes out of the room. She looks the man squarely in the eyes and states, "The kind of friends who are sick of the how the Imperials are treating the people of this town. Friends who think that maybe the Falu Four are doing the right thing by standing up to them."
May 16, 2017 12:08 pm
"Hey, that's fair," Bast says with a smile, "Look, I'll make it fifty, as a show of good faith."

"Might be you're thinking you can run off with it. Yeah, that's true. Sure. Just know that if you don't, and if you work with me on this, there'll be more." Bast lectures tossing the creds over to the pair. "I'm looking for information on the Imperials' hunt for the Falu Four. Anything you can find out about them, what they're doing, who they're talking to, who they're paying... that's information I need."
May 18, 2017 2:34 am
"Purposely led away? Well, it's good to hear that they are at least in good health. I heard so many rumors of casualties, I worried for their safety. I am, of course, familiar with the Falu Four. You would have to live under quite trying circumstances to not have at least heard of that group. Their methods are most troubling. Those who know me well are aware of my feelings on violence. Violence of any kind should be avoided. In fact, my father once told me..." I continue recounting childhood tales, bookended by my philosophy on non-violence and how it could change the galaxy for the better. It's even more eloquent than the speech I gave that allowed for my election. Once I'm done there are tears in my eyes as I thank the men for their service in helping to keep the peace.

"Sounds like the type of people we'd like to meet" Kyle responds in a hushed tone, a slight smile forming on his lips. "Anyone that's willing to stand up to what's going…" a communicator in his pocket breaks squelch and he quickly scrambles to retrieve it.

"Where are you, Bastra?" a rough voice asks loudly over the communicator. He nods, slightly embarrassed, to Ishala, before turning away and raising the communicator closer to his face, audibly wincing as he does.

"Got hit and had to get some help. I'll meet up with you at the normal place" he says, quickly turning off the device before the person on the other end can respond. He goes to slip it back into his pocket and pauses for a moment, fidgeting with the device for moment before turning back to Ishala.

"Tell ya what, Doctor. Here's my communicator code, if you'd be willing to set up some sort of meeting, I'd appreciate it. You can just hit me with the details when you're ready."
The female Twi'lek snatches the tossed credits out of the air in a swift clean motion. Smiling as she tosses the loot repeatedly up and down in her hand she confidently approaches Bast. "I'm Suwwava and this is Niscrina" she says, motioning behind her.

Niscrina shuffles quickly up from behind and whispers loudly, "Why did you give him our real names!!"

"It's only fair our boss knows our names, isn't it?" she says flashing Bast a toothy grin. "Tell ya what, Boss. Why don't you come and see us in a few days. Just yell to Zibu up there and she'll come and get us" she points up to the window where the little Twi'lek girl has reappeared. "In the meantime we'll do some snooping for you and see what we can find."
Captain Reager listens patiently to Xin's stories shifting in his chair slightly as she continues. While the stories don't appear to move him, he does appear to be growing frustrated with their length and lack of any information pertaining to the questions at hand. When Xin finishes, Reager lets out a long sigh, leans forward, and set his forehead into the palm of his hand.

"Officer Mucecud!"" he yells out after a few moments of awkward silence.

"Yes, Sir!?" the officer responds as she rushes into the room.

"Could you escort Miss Kithes to the exit. This has been a huge waste of time." he says, head still in the palm of his hand.

Mucecud offers Xin an apologetic smile, "Follow me, Ma'am, if you would, and we'll get you on your way" As soon as Mucecud and Xin are out of earshot the officer leans in and says, "That was pretty impressive. I've never seen anyone handle Reager like that before. You'll have to teach me your secret."

She throws Xin a wink and escorts her out of the building. "Have a nice day, Ma'am."

"Call me what you like," Bast says, returning the grin with a big, goofy one of his own, "But this is a partnership, alright?" He looks up toward Zibu and gives her a mock salute. "Just don't get yourselves in any danger. The information is certainly useful, but it isn't worth your necks." After that he gives a wave and turns, calling out to them, "I'll see you in a few days."

Ishala smiles again, though her eyes are sad, "I will do that, Kyle. I think my friends will like you. Bring only those you trust."

OOC:
At this point all four of you have safely arrived at Ishala's clinic. It's mid-afternoon-ish-ey.

C6 slumps down into a corner "I ran into some interference from a most annoying local on my way back. Other than that however my passage here went unnoticed by any further imperials" he relays to the others as he pulls some tools out to try and affect some repairs on himself.
OOC:
So just a point of Strain back....plus 2 more with the boost die if I can count it (reflected below for now)

Bast is quiet at first. Contemplative, perhaps. When he speaks up as Ishala starts to look over C6-9K, he's sounding a bit mellow, "Hey, uh... thanks. Everyone. Going out there was a big risk. I know everyone here knows it. But.. thanks." He offers a small smile, "I'm glad we didn't let anyone take the punishment meant for us."
May 30, 2017 11:43 pm
Ishala looks up from working on C6 with a mildly incredulous expression, "Of course we wouldn't let anyone else be punished. That's why we started this in the first place, right? Stopping the Imps from treating this town like their personal slave pen."
May 31, 2017 12:10 pm
"Yeah, no, I.." Bast sighs, "Yeah, I get that." He scratches at his chin, trying to form the words in his mind, "I guess what I mean to say is that... well... I wasn't sure. I knew what I was doing this for. But, when I went out there, I didn't know who else would be following me."

"But," He says hesitantly, "Not that I didn't trust you three." Bast twists his face up a bit into a wince, "Eh, I should stop talking. You're all good people, I mean to say."
May 31, 2017 4:22 pm
I smile. "Officer Mucecud, I'm sure I don't know what you mean. Have a nice day, regardless. May the rest of your day be less eventful." I take a long, circuitous route back towards the clinic, just in case anyone decides to follow.
