Part 4: Wave Echo Cave

Stormsong's spell goes off, but affects the morningstar of G4 because it's not wearing any armor. The bugbear yelps as the weapon heats up, burning its hand badly. It drops the weapon in surprise.

Xora swings at the bugbear, but the creature easily parries the blow.

Enraged and unwilling to pick up its burning weapon, G4 leaps forward to grapple with Kama.G2, seeing the large goliath moving toward him, turns attention away from Xora and takes a swing at Stormsong as he moves into range. Stormsong easily ducks the blow before closing the rest of the distance.

Kama completes his spin, moving back a couple of steps from the advancing bugbear, blade coming around at chest level, slicing a deep gash into the creature's chest. G4 howls in pain as he staggers back a couple of steps.

G2 smiles and barks out a laugh as he easily slaps Stormsong's blade to the side.

Xora swings her staff at G2, aiming for his head, hoping to take him out quickly. This bugbear is obviously a step above the others as it avoids yet another attack.

Gimblyn, seeing that Kama's opponent still stands, launches a fire bolt at G4. His spell hits the bugbear in the chest and it hits the ground hard.

G2 growls at seeing another companion fall and disengages from the battle, rushing up the stairs to the north.Map

Kama gives chase as the bugbear moves out of site, coming around the corner just in time to see it reach the top of the stairs. Without a second thought, he adjusts his grip on Talon and launches it like a spear. The blade flies straight and true, hitting him right in the center of the back and exploding out through the front of his chest. He is launched a few feet forward and out of site, but you don't hear him move any more.Map

Kama climbs to the top of the stairs and finds himself in a hallway. To his left is a set of double-doors leading north. The left tunnel ends a short way in at a cave-in. To his right, the tunnel opens into a cavern.

A wide rift fills the eastern half of this cavern. A stream pours out of the west wall, then tumbles down into the rift and flows out again to the north. Several ropes are secured to iron stakes along the western edge of the rift, leading down to the chasm floor.

You can hear the chatter of what sounds like bugbears in the rift, and the occasional sounds of rocks shifting or breaking. Up top are two bugbears. One leans against the wall, facing in your direction. Obviously he's a guard, but he's fallen asleep at his post. The other watches the work in the pit, occasionally shouting orders.

Kama, to the best of his knowledge, manages to get back down the stairs with his sword and the body.
