The small gnome waves his staff, casting his invisibility spell. A slow mist falls from the tip of the staff, fading his image till he can no longer be seen. He continues to the western door.

Moving on through the western door, Gimblyn finds a series of interconnected passages. Some of them end abruptly at cave-ins, but two of them, both leading north, continue further into the cave.

"Hey, uh," says Kama, quietly while he waits for the scout to return, "did anybody see where Gimblyn went?"
Dec 27, 2016 1:24 am
I point in the general direction that he most likely went. At least... I think that's where he went.

Gimblyn continues his scout mission, going up one of the north leading hallways. Hop. Hop. Hop. Hop.
Dec 27, 2016 7:50 pm
Kama heads north, to the door that Gimblyn disappeared into. Seeing the skeletons, he pauses in meditation to detect if they are unnaturally alive and lying in wait.

Gimblyn makes his way further into the cave, traveling up the first north passage he finds. Not far from it he ascends some stairs and enters a very large cavern (9 on the map). Steep escarpments divide this large cavern into three sections-high ledges at either end, and a lower section in the middle. Carved stone stairs climb up to the ledges. Two large tables stand in the middle section, along with a pair of old braziers. A smaller table stands on the eastern ledge. The skeletal remains of dozens of dead warriors - dwarves, gnomes, orcs, and ogres -attest to the fierceness of the fighting that took place here long ago. Also, on the lower level, are seven of those undead creatures you fought the night before.

Kama is able to determine that the skeletons are truly dead.

Tumtwig quickly doubles back and goes up the other hallway, hoping to scout quickly and relay the information to the group.

After getting the all clear from Kama, Stormsong investigates the barracks room -- under beds/mattresses, etc.

"I'll check it out while we wait for Gimblyn's return."

...

"Doesn't look like much to me, but it may be a good place to hole up and rest if we need one later. Although it's another door to defend, an alternate exit can be very helpful."

I sit and await Gimblyn's return. "Perhaps we should have given him a time frame?"
Dec 28, 2016 6:33 pm
Kama nods. "That's a good idea, for next time," he says. "If there is a next time."

Gimblyn moves into the next passage heading north and finds another large cavern. A still pool fills much of this cavern. The water is dark, revealing little of what might lie within. The shore of the pool consists of a thin layer of broken shells from strange, pale mussels, and a fishy odor hangs in the air. A passage leads south from this area, and a set of steps climbs up to the east. A sluggish stream flows out of the cave to the northeast.

Stormsong finds nothing of value in the old barracks. Moments later, you hear the crash of what sounds like waves on a shore echoing through the cavern. You can't tell where it comes from, but now you think that you know how the cave got its name.

Gimblyn makes his way back to the group, not realizing how long he's been gone for.

Gimblyn makes his way back to the group, still invisible, so the others do not know that he's standing among them.

Kama tests out the sturdiness of an old cot to sit on.
Dec 29, 2016 10:14 pm
The old cot is surprisingly sturdy, given the passage of years, though the thin mattress puffs out a cloud of choking dust as Kama sits down on it.
Dec 29, 2016 10:36 pm
Kama waves his hand to clear the air, only barely suppressing his cough.
Dec 30, 2016 1:01 pm
Gimblyn catches a full whiff of the dust and coughs. Still invisible he starts talking. "Yup, yup... we gotta go north. There are some ugly things along the way, but I swear we are too strong!" He pats his bicep, though no one can see.
OOC:
can we get an updated map? :)

"How ugly?" asks Kama. "Like me?"
