There is an astounding clatter near the back of the room. As heads whip around, you see Xavena holding the bottom of her leather satchel in her claw, having upended the package. Scattered across the floor are a mess of coins in various colors and denominations.

I immediately jump to my feet and crouch down, daring anyone to take a step near my cache. Then I very carefully pick up every coin, looking up every so often to make sure no one else attempts to take what is mine.

You manage to recover 39 gold worth of coins immediately. Some of the coins may have rolled too far away to gather immediately.

Yes, you both spot coins near you. Rolen, you find 10 gold worth of coins and Catriona finds 19 gold worth.

"Here, Xavena, don't lose these!" Catriona points out the wayward coins, picks up a few, and hands them to the dragonborn.

Rolen scoops up the coins into his hands and walks over to Xavena. Kneeling down, matching her crouch, he places all the coins he found in her pile "You might want to be a bit more careful with your gold." giving her a slight smile before walking off back to his chair again.

I quickly grab the coins from Rolen and Catriona, throwing it into the satchel and hugging it close. Why are they acting this way? Are they trying to trick me? I try not to make eye contact with anyone who is watching this take place.

"There's some more on the floor..." Catriona says, pointing them out but not moving to pick them up.

I casually look over to where she is pointing. If I don't immediately see the coins, I will make no move to pick them up. Obviously they are somehow mocking me crawling all over the floor like the street rat I once was while they strut around in their finery.

You easily spot the coins by following Catriona's pointed finger. You also notice that Baron Harketts is taking special care to avoid noticing your situation.

Aside from the coins that you notice the half-orc pointing out, you see nothing additional.

I reluctantly go and pick up the remaining coins. I continue to avoid eye contact with everyone.

Regardless if the Baron continues talking, Baraq hops off her perch and approaches the food table again. She picks up a pie to inspect it, then tosses it aside as worthless. The aarakocra returns to a staple of meat to satisfy her.

Neraduin looks at the money spilled on the floor and sighs. He eyes one more time Baraq, carefully, before grabbing some beer and taking a few quick sips. He eyes Catriona over his beverage before looking at the foam stuck on his lips that he promptly removes with a hasty gesture.
So her name is Wavesilver - at least on the parchment. Why, by the Morndinsamman, is an infant here ? And for some reason she isn't frightened by the birdfolk.
He gazes at the crowd, and now he is drinking bigger volumes.
This ragtag lot somehow doesn't look any better.

As it's been 48 hours with nothing from Ada, DM Handwavy Magic says she jumps out of her seat after having fallen asleep at the longwinded babbling of the Baron. In a fluster, she rushes up to the tablet, tripping over her own feet. After righting herself, red in the face, she signs her name hurriedly and accepts her satchel with much chagrin. For those that didn't look yet, your satchels contain 68 gold worth of assorted coins. Now then, as to rumor gathering. What I've been told so far is that there is a village to the east of us, between the Crags and the Sword Mountains. It's right on the edge of the wood there. There's a man, some would call him a coot, but he's been muttering enough things that caught the ear of one of my - ahem - reporters to give me pause. He's apparently heard a tale of a mad wizard that went crazy with the Spellplague. He supposedly found a cache of old artifacts and some kind of headgear was in it. This may only be the ravening of an old coot. But I cannot take that risk. Please venture to Willowfall, and find this old man. Chase down his clues. If you find something substantive, look for the symbol of an eye set in a pentagonal cage. The man you find there will be able to get word to me. As he looks around the room, he looks to the young man with a nod. The boy nips out of the room and returns a minute or two later with Meribeth.
Now then, as it is late and I have all this food and drink left, be merry and enjoy the material things. I've arranged for you all to bed here for the evening and trust that you will set out together at first light. While you could adventure off alone, I do not recommend it. If you wait til the morning, there will be transportation made available to you free of charge, as well as rations for the first part of your trip. Enjoy! With that, he rises from his perch and makes his way for the door.
