Just our luck.

Tajanna stowed her datapad back away, dropped the droid brain she was fiddling with back into the pile of droid parts, scooped up the remaining respirator, and then shot the still-living rodian once in the head and twice in the chest with her new heavy blaster pistol.

"I'm sure we'll get another chance to interrogate some flunkies soon enough. I doubt that whoever's after us is going to stop sending goons squads anytime soon."

Tajanna then hurriedly followed Krosus and Lexi into the cantina, and flicked her left wrist once to set her holographic costume to display a set of inconspicuous, dark-coloured civilian clothes.
OOC:
Tajanna is looting a respirator and heavy blaster pistol, in case there is any ambiguity. Also, her Sleight of Mind talent adds a Boost die to Stealth checks, unless opposed by a Force-immune entity.

Mother: [Stop pouting, its undignified.]

What does it matter? I wear a helmet that completely covers my face.

Pout still under his helmet, Hawke tossed the severed arm onto the perforated rodian before jogging towards the cantina. As he passed through the doorway, his father decided to chime in, [Your posture is screaming 'I'm pouting!'

And what makes you think that they're familiar with gank body language?

Stealth to blend in

The four of you leave behind a wake of death and destruction just outside the cantina, entering Charitable Charlatan's as Espos shouts, still a block or two away, are completely cut off by the cantina doors closing behind you. Uptempo yet relaxed, rhythmically persistent jazz type music comes from a jukebox, part of what you're certain is ownership's attempt at cultivating an extremely relaxed ambience. It's a decent sized cantina, as you immediately notice the dark atmospheric blue lighting precludes you from seeing with any clarity beyond the main room around the bar. While you can see the extent of the room's dimensions for the most part, it is difficult in some cases to tell whether or not anyone is actually occupying space toward the darker edges of the blue light bar room, especially as the booths themselves seem designed for privacy, with exceptionally high-backed seating that would even hide the presence of a tall wookie. Ultimately, the cantina itself seems to be separated into blue subdued illumination in the bar room, and a separate 'dark room' of sorts off to your right, negligibly illuminated by the seeping blue light cast off from the main area by the bar.

As far as you can tell, the booths in the bar room are empty. Faint murmurs of conversation float across the air in subtly varying volumes from the dark room, none of them distinct enough to make out, but enough to know that there are patrons here that you just can't see due to the lighting. An outburst of laughter comes from somewhere far off to your right in the dark room, followed by a burst from a different voice. This is, without a doubt, a cantina designed for those who value privacy and quiet, and, based on the feeling you get, a well-mixed drink. Not necessarily high class, but low key and reserved.

The bar is directly ahead of you opposite the entrance, well lit in contrast to the rest of the cantina, bathed in pale blue light from above. Behind it a bartender droid is at work mixing a drink, as a server droid appears to wait on the order. In addition to the booths in the bar room, there are, of course, a multitude of seats at the bar itself, all of them empty.

The bartender droid looks up from his work, acknowledges you with a nod, and gets back to pouring.

Classy place, maybe we can try some of that Corallian ale we've heard about? Krosus says with a smirk.

One bottle of Corallian ale back home would have run in the hundred of credits, making it the prize of the wealthy lords. Who would have biding wars over a bottle when an unfortunate freighter lost their way.

Krosus is looking for a possible exit out of this place as he moves away from the front door, keeping his hood pulled low over his face. First rule of any engagement is to learn your surroundings and in this case, finding any possible exits out of this place, because those guards will be arriving any minute.

"Haven't I mentioned that I don't imbibe alcoholic fluids?"

I would think that anyone familiar with my file would want to keep me away from anything that impairs my control... He has read my file hasn't he?

[How should we know? In any case a shot or two won't kill you.]

Hawke repressed a growl, knowing that alcohol made the voices of his parents louder, harder to resist, almost seductive.

Not now, need to leave, need to escape. Progenitor guide me, show us an exit.

Lexi sat down at the bar, near to the end, as she ran her fingers through her hair and set her elbows down on the bartop itself.

"Asteroid Jammer, short." she said, quietly. I hope he knows how to make the kriffin' drink. Should be light on the alcohol, enough to tinge it with taste and for my breath. Enough synthjuices and flavorants to keep me sober. Maybe. she thought to herself, taking in the bar. If there's a way out of here, we should get in touch with Lissewa and book it. Ideally, we'd get the ECUL back. Sith command won't look highly on us losing something that expensive after a single use. Damn.

While she sat there, brooding over the possible loss of their ECUL, she kept her ears and eyes open, trying to ensure nothing snuck up on her.

OOC:
Vigilance isn't something you ever need to roll; it represents a passive awareness, primarily for danger/threats, and I roll it when necessary (like when Krosus noticed the incoming Espos outside). It's one of the Secret Checks.
Jan 10, 2017 12:04 am
However, you are always welcome to roll any secret check, as a visible emphasis on your character's part to show that you're focused on such things.
Jan 10, 2017 12:08 am
OOC:
Understood. The roll was meant to be a place holder. Perhaps it should have been perception. She's not actively searching but paying more attention than normal, of that makes sense. Perception would just drop the yellow.
Jan 10, 2017 1:10 am
In this case, your best bet to get the lay of the land would be Perception, which is also a secret check (placeholder dice are always extremely appreciated!!). I'll take care of Vigilance for you. See the Library for the big difference on how the two operate.

Drinking on the job, really?

We really should meet up with Lissi, and then secure the ECUL, both as soon as possible. We can't afford sit around idly at a local bar, sampling local intoxicants.

Tajanna stuck close to Krosus and Hawke, rolling her eyes at Lexi as she went to order a drink from the bartender droid.

"I don't believe you have, Engineer. I'm sure we could find some dealcoholized Corellian ale, just for you, though."

Tajanna scanned the bar, looking for alternate exits, as well as any sign of Lissi and Zhaff's contact. As she was looking around, she discreetly slipped out her datapad and texted a quick message to Lissi's datapad, saying We're at CC's. Where are you situated? Respond quickly, we've picked up some heat.

The bartender droid seems programmed for efficiency, and, as the serving droid walks away from the bar, it mixes Lexi's drink without delay. A splash of this, and a jigger of that, and it's exactly how she ordered it. Apparently to come off as less droid and more sentient, it leans on the bar. "So, I haven't seen you before, human. New to town?" Its mouth remains still while it speaks, rendering the illusion of sentience less than convincing, to say the least. Lexi does, however, notice a warm yellow glow emanating from within the droid's mouth... perhaps an attempt by those who programmed it to convey warmth?

The rest of the group moves through the cantina intrepidly, across the shades of blue mosaic bar room floor into the dark room. The quiet sounds of conversation are subtly drowned out by the jukebox jazz-like beats still floating through the air, discussions kept private by the music itself. Rounding the corner, entering the dark room, your eyes adjust to a darkness partially illuminated by a sudden flood of blue light from a booth in the far right corner, allowing you to see barely enough to understand the purpose of the high-backed booths in this section: they were covered on top and had curtains that could be drawn to allow for additional privacy, each booth essentially being a secluded, quiet room in its own way. From what you can in the shadows, a handful of these very private booths were in such a state of seclusion, curtains drawn, its occupants completely hidden from view.

As your eyes adjust even further, you note that empty booths of varying sizes and seating capacities have their curtains open, dark within, showing available occupancy. From the booth that just opened its curtains on the far wall, a human woman exits, making her way past you to the bar. Another human woman sits within, and closes the curtains partially to maintain a degree of privacy. She's likely waiting for the return of the other. An added benefit of the modicum of light from within her booth is that you can barely discern what looks like a door in the far left corner.
Jan 11, 2017 12:19 am
Two major options: blend in or disappear. Require additional input.

"Should we hide in a booth or vacate the premises?"
Jan 11, 2017 12:35 am
Krosus takes a seat at the bar beside of Lexi, and leans in closer to speak. Have you had any contact with Lissewa yet?
As he awaited a response an idea came to mind and he glanced over at the bar tender nearby. Bar tender, if you were asked by someone who the most recent patronage were that came through that door, what would you tell them?
OOC:
Krosus is trying to determine how much information the droid knows and if they stay at the bar looking for Lissewa, if they could convinve the droid to tell a lie for them. If that fails he will suggest to Hawke about turning the droid off and one of us taking his place until the local authorities could be diverted.
OOC:
Mechanics check is to see if he can spot a switch for the droid, so he can give Hawke that information if need be.

Lexi looked to her side when Krosus sat down. A quick twitch of her head in the negative. How to answer the droid? How connected is he, does he have a line to the Espos, what will they tell the Espos if they ask? Her head hurt with how far sideways it went.

No, friend, not heard from her at all. Was hoping she'd checked in with you. she said quietly, and quickly, before turning back to the bartender droid.

You could say that. Got a call, said go to Bonadan. I load the ship up and take her out. Get here, only to find out the air is a mess, the streets hate me, and I can't even find a place to get a passable piece of commo equipment. Had a short out on the trip in, blew a piece. My engineer has the name but I was never good with that kind of stuff. She said, giving the droid a shrug. Say, is it ok if I duck into one of those booths back there? Need to clear my head and don't want any distractions. She quirked an eyebrow at the bartender as she finished up.

I figure hide out in a booth, get the lay of the land. Normally, standing and fighting would be the way to go, but with a force that large it destroys any chance at mission success. Progenitor help me.

Tajanna stayed standing with Hawke, as Krosus joined Lexi at the bar.

"I think we should find a booth for the time being. We could use a few moments to strategize before we head back out to the warzone outside. And hopefully Gunner is still waiting for us here, or at least not captured or dead."

We can't really afford to lose a single person right now, even one with as questionable combat ability as Lissi.
Jan 11, 2017 3:19 pm
Despite the droid being programmed to seem more sentient as part of its bartender work, it's still a droid. It looks at Krosus, a bit puzzled. "Why, that's an odd question. The answer, however, my good sir, is simple. I would tell them that 4 sentients were the most recent patrons to enter this fine establishment. Three plainly dressed. One of them well armored, with the look of a bounty hunter." A gesture toward Hawke. "One of them a paying customer." He gestures toward Lexi. "An odd question, but one with a simple answer. Care for a drink, sir?"

Beyond the droid's answer, you guys have some decisions to make. Check the Shank's OOC for more, before you post.

[Have you forgotten boy? You warned the little twi'lek away.]

Taking another look around, Hawke mentally reviewed the available data before coming to a decision. Walking over to the group at the bar, he leaned over to whisper in their ears.

"Get a to-go glass for your drinks, I think Lissewa a got my message when the fight broke out."

Lexi gave a small nod as she downed the remainder of her drink, with a satisfied smack of her lips.

What's the damage, bartender? She asked, cocking her head at the serving droid. Without waiting to hear the reply, she turned to look at Hawke. Who needs a to-go glass? Pound it like a proper man. Let's give it a quick rest, my legs are killin' me here. Snag a booth, get outta the loud. Once the old walkabouts are refreshed, we get back out there looking for that equipment, yeah? Lexi said, as she stared at Hawke, her eyes trying to bore holes into the engineer's.
Jan 12, 2017 12:43 pm
Tajanna followed the rest of the team in grabbing a seat at the bar, sitting down beside Hawke.

"A quick rest at a booth sounds just about right to me."

Tajanna turned to face to bartender droid, and raised her voice slightly to grab its attention.

"Hey, bartender, do ya happen to have a vacant booth we could occupy? We'd be most appreciative of some peace and quiet while we imbibe."

If Lissi has been receiving any of our messages, she should have responded to them. I don't like this situation one bit. A missing teammate, a soon-to-be impounded transport, no way of contacting STRAT-COM or Flesh Walker, assuming he's still living and not defected, and someone who knows we're here and keeps siccing goon squads on us.
