An Awakening

Dec 21, 2016 3:58 pm
Your eyes flicker open, and you find yourself staring up through a haze of black smoke and leaves. The sun is shining high above you, and the air is warm on your nearly bare skin. Looking around you, there are two other people sitting up at the same time. A pile of wreckage behind you is burning, pouring out the choking black smoke. Above you, a canopy of maple leaves filters out some of the light, leaving you in shade.

One of the men by the fire begins to sit up, checking over his person, feeling his body, pressing in random places.

Martin looks towards the two other individuals. "You two alright?"

Good lord, what fresh hell is this? Jim sits up and looks around him. Seeing the other two, he says, Uhhh, are you guys from the regional office? I know it's Saturday, but you're kind of taking casual attire to a new level, don't ya think?
Dec 21, 2016 5:27 pm
Martin carefully stands up being sure to not stumble on anything. I have no damn clue. But I could really go for a beer right now, he says.

Jim looks at the stranger and says, It's uhh... He looks down at his wrist. There is no watch. It's 9 o'clock in the morning.
Dec 21, 2016 6:42 pm
It's 5 o'clock somewhere, he says back. But I would like to know where the hell we are. I was just going to get some groceries and now I am here. He looks around trying to make any sense of this location.

As Marty looks around the space, a few things jump out. There's a beach with lapping blue water about 400 feet away from you. You are all lying in a copse of trees that gets darker the further away from the beach it goes. About 20 feet away is a pile of burning wreckage, still with orange flames and black smoke pouring out of it. You pick out a few things of note: a tail fin with part of the letter E or F on it. A broken propeller blade hangs limply from a flaming engine. Your 'clothes' are drab gray, singed, and amount to nothing more than shorts and a belly shirt. The sun is directly overhead, and the day is warm in the shade of the trees, so it must be very warm in the direct sun.

Marty looks towards the wreckage. My name is Marty by the way, he says to the other survivors.

Jim stops looking around for a moment to stare at Marty, an incredulous look on his face. Oh, hey, Marty! he says in a voice of the sincerest sincerity, his face a study in exasperated mockery. He grabs Marty's hand in both of his and begins to shake it vigorously. It's just such a pleasure to meet you Marty! I've been looking forward to this for just ages! How's the wife? And the kids? He drops Marty's hand. What-- he begins and pauses. What is wrong with you? Who the hell are you, and where the hell are we?

I told you who I am. If my name does not work well for you, I would be more than happy to provide the fact that we all have no clue as to where we are, how we got here, or why we are here. I suggest we calm down and try to scavenge for supplies before day turns into night, he says while looking around hoping to find some supplies.

The girl gets up and walks away from the two bickering men, not far, just a few feet. She looks them over a few times while they talk. "He's just introduced himself. Relax."

She moves to the left and peers at the wreckage, then the beach. "I was on campus shopping. Is that a beach? Are we supposed to believe we each got flown here without any memory?

Marty, as you investigate the beach, you don't find much. A pair of rocks the size of grapefruits, and some broken boughs. Down closer to the water, there are some seashells, nothing huge.

That's what it's looking like, he says to the girl while looking into the forest for anything of interest, hoping to know what trees it contains. There are too many questions that need to be answered, but before anything we should focus on survival.

Deeper in the forest is much of what you'd expect. Fallen limbs, some fallen trees. Mounds of leaves, and a fair amount of acorns. There is some birdsong coming from deeper in the wooded area, however.
Dec 22, 2016 8:21 pm
Since it seems as if we are the only humans here and that it is on us to survive, we should make group decisions, he says while picking up limbs and sticks to use for fire, shelter, or anything really.

Only humans? You looked around for two minutes. When you walk out of your house and don't see anyone, do you figure you're the last person on the planet?
OOC:
How far away is the plane wreckage? How on fire is it? Is it approachable?
Dec 22, 2016 8:28 pm
Go ahead and make a check to gather survival materials from the woods.

All checks (unless specified) have a base target of 70 on a 1d100 roll. In this case, you are in a well-stocked area from that perspective, so the target for this would be 60. You can add 1d10 to your roll because of your Mind rating. Additionally, you can drop the target by 10 because of your 2 survival points. So roll 1d100, 1d10 and the sum goes against a target of 50.

The plane wreckage is ~250' away. It's "super" on fire. You feel the heat from where you are at the moment.
