Part 2: The Bacta Run

"Not a bad idea, but could take time." Avox says, in response to Doc's idea. "We could always send in someone sneaky and expendable to scout out means of infiltration." The bounty hunter says patting Jack's chair. "Then it would only be a matter of grabbing and going, and if he's caught we've lost nothing of value."

Jack lets the barb brush off like it were nothing, not wanting to antagonize one another in front of the employer, "Could do that. There are a couple of us that are light on our feet, but calling it 'just a matter of grabbing and going' is making light of a large issue. Still, I think scouting the place should be the first step no matter what the plan becomes after that."

"As far as an answer to your questions, Thes, we're going to need eyes on the site before we can know how best to approach it."

Thessa replies, "I would expect nothing less. My questions were for you, not for me. It doesn't matter to me how you get the bacta." She turns to address Savi, "As to payment, my contact has already been paid and has no interest in a shipment of bacta himself. In return for the information, and any help he provides, I would ask that you sell half of your shipment to me, here, at fair price. I have no desire to swindle you. As you say, it is more profitable for me to build relationships and trust than to underpay. The remaining half of the shipment, you can do with what you wish. I would be happy to buy it as well, or you can choose to find other markets that would fetch an even higher price. The further you travel from the Core, the more desperate people are for even basic supplies." She frowns, "And there are many worlds under Imperial embargo that need it even more."

Savi nods and retreats inward as he contemplates various possibilities. He takes the last portion of water from his glass and swallows it. Replacing the glass on the table he listens politely to the dregs of the conversation in case any more relevant points or questions make an appearance. If none are forthcoming, he will try to encourage the group to return to the ship to plan en route.
Jan 20, 2017 3:41 am
Avox will acquiesce to Savi's encouragements, and head out to the ship along with anyone else who is ready to go.

Jack rises to his feet, "Sounds good. See you soon." He'll depart with the others, when ready.
Jan 20, 2017 10:12 am
Thessa stands and walks with you to the door of the cantina. "Good luck, and may the Force be with you."
Jan 20, 2017 2:17 pm
Bo heard the news when the crew arrives back. "Bacta? Medico suppwies ah ohways pwafitable"
Jan 21, 2017 7:34 pm
Just as the last of your crew walks up the ramp to the ship, you notice a group of roughly-dressed and well-armed beings approaching. One calls out, "Oy! This the 'Horizon Chaser'?"
Jan 21, 2017 9:25 pm
Jack departs from the bar, but not before draining the rest of his beer and leaving the bottle on the bar as he passes by. He ponders over Thessa's words, and tried to figure out what to make of them. He never knew what to think about mentions of the Force and the Jedi. His mother used to talk about the Force on occasion, and as a child he enjoyed those stories, but he's never seen any proof of it. He's heard from so many that it's just a myth. If it is real, then by his understanding, the Force hasn't been with him or his family for as long as he can remember.

His internal conflict is disturbed by the folk approaching them at the ramp of the ship. This doesn't look good. Jack, standing at the top of the ramp, turns and hooks his thumbs into his belt. He keeps his hands close to his holstered blasters. He narrows his eyes at the people who have approached them, trying to get a read on their intentions.

Going to make a Streetwise check:

"Streetwise represents a character's instinct for how to pick up on subtle cues from the language and attitudes of those who operate outside of legal structures. It may be used to understand subtle references within conversations."

Jack is specifically pondering if these guys would be Quin Telsh's thugs, if there is a way to determine that.

As Doc is walking up the ramp he hears the thug shout out his question and shouts back "Never heard of it" without turning or breaking his stride as he boards the ship.

Jack sees the thugs look confused at Doc's words, and confer for a moment before calling out, "We was told this were her ship. We're looking for a skinny little Twi'lek, name o' Ada." Jack has seen beings like these on many worlds, lowlife muscle sent by petty criminals. He can't help but drift a hand onto one of his blasters as he hears his friend's name, a move that is not lost on one of the thugs, who mutters something to the leader.

Not as unfamiliar with combat as the crew might believe him to be, Savi knows low level thugs when he sees them. These lot may be dumb and expendable, but it only takes one lucky shot from an incompetent with a blaster to end the life of a hero.

Standing with Jack at the top of the ramp, he slips his hand under his robes and grip the hilt of a blaster the Crew hasn't yet seen him use. He used to bullseye training droids at the snooty training facility back on Coruscant. Those lessons had cost him plenty, perhaps it was time to see if those credits and hours had been well spent...

Avox grumbles under his breath as he walks from deeper into the ship to the top of the ramp. "Whose asking?" He growls down at the men.

OOC:
Was the thug referring to Ada as a Twi'lek intentional or a typo?
Jack parted his lips to add a careful lie upon Doc's, but Avox beats him to the punch with his own brand of social skill. He glances sideways at the Gank for a moment, and mutters something under his breath about tact.

Streetwise to see how best to defuse this tense situation with thugs

OOC:
Typo, but let's roll with it. They're not very smart.
The lead thug, an Aqualish, growls,"We're askin' on behalf of our boss, who wants words with Ms. Ada. She owes him a fair bit of cred, and seems she's been fallin' behind a bit."

It is at this point that all of you realize that you haven't actually seen Ada in quite some while. She might be on the ship...or perhaps she never came back from the cantina.

Jack knows that the only way to de-escalate the situation is to give the thugs what they want, or prove you don't have it. If Ava's not on the ship, showing that would probably be enough to send them on their way. If she is, then only a show of greater power will cause them to back down.
Jan 22, 2017 3:13 pm
Thinking to himself, Savi is sure they can outwit this lot. If Ada is on the ship she just needs to hide. Just in case she is on board and hasn't over heard any of this Savi turns to Jack and says, "Clearly these gentlemen don't understand they've got the wrong ship and crew. I'll show them around while you warm up the engines."

In an effort to stall and give Jack time to properly hide Ada, Savi walks down the ramp with his arms wide and a disarming smile smeared across his face. "Gentlemen, we have a schhedule to keep and are rather pressed for time. Please allow me to show you around our vessel. You'll see we are not harboring the person for whom you search."

With a nod to Avox, he continues, "My friend here is not a fan of armed strangers coming aboard our ship, as I'm sure you'd understand. It is clear you are wise to the ways of the galaxy. We would never expect to board your ship fully armed. So, would you rather leave your arms with a compatriot who remains here, or would you prefer to keep your arms and send one person on board to search. That one person could, of course, keep his arms too."

Savi smiles broadly and raises his eyebrows awaiting their answer.

Bo hides in the entry way of the ship with her sword drawn. Any other crew members nearby she will watch to see if they have any clues via body language on how we are going to deal with these guys.
Jan 23, 2017 12:20 am
Jack gives Savi a cautionary look before he steps back into the ship to go look and see if Ada is aboard. Once he's out of sight, he'll pull his blasters from their holsters, ready to charge back over to the ramp at the first sound of trouble.
Jan 23, 2017 1:13 am
The thugs confer again, indicating with waving arms and angry tone that they don't agree on the best course of action. After a minute or two, a skinny Rhodian is thrust forward. The Aqualish speaks, "He'll search, we'll wait here...with you." The other ruffians rest hands on blasters, indicating this demand is not negotiable.
