Part 2: The Bacta Run

Jan 15, 2017 8:57 pm
Having completed a successful - if mysterious - smuggling run, the crew of the Horizon Chaser gather around a table in the back room of a cantina. Their contact, Thessa, has another proposal for them; one that should be very lucrative, but very dangerous.
Jan 15, 2017 9:10 pm
As Avox joins the group, Thessa nods and then begins to speak, "What do you know about where and how bacta is processed?"
Jan 16, 2017 6:47 am
Jack glances over at Avox when he walks in, but doesn't react otherwise. He turns back to Thessa as she's asking her question and with a grin he leans in and jokes, "It's squeezed from the tear ducts of Angels, if I remember right."

Doc chuckles at Jack's comment and then turns back to Thessa "I have a certain professional interest, the lions share of it comes out of Thyferra but I've heard there are a few other outlets producing different strains....I've heard the bacta they produce isn't as effective though. I've never really been inclined to look into the manufacturing process though" he finishes with a slight shrug
Jan 16, 2017 8:59 pm
Savi knows a little bit about Bacta but not enough to interrupt. With nothing meaningful too add he takes a sip from his water and listens - carefully.
Jan 17, 2017 12:40 am
Avox shakes his head and crosses his arms, settling in to listen.
Jan 17, 2017 12:45 am
Thessa inclines her head in agreement toward Doc. "Indeed, the best and largest quantity of bacta is produced on Thyferra, where it's sale is rigidly controlled by two cartels. The Empire supports their monopoly, because in turn they only sell bacta to the Imperials. Getting a shipment out of Thyferra is extremely challenging, because you have to dodge both the cartels and the Empire." She smiles impishly, "There is another way, however."
Jan 17, 2017 1:18 am
Jack tilts his head and listens with a curious expression on his face.
Jan 17, 2017 1:20 am
Savi finishes his dip, replaces his cup on the table and leans forward. Curiosity piqued.
Jan 17, 2017 1:24 am
The Empire may purchase their bacta at Thyferra, but they store it on Bespin....whole warehouses full of it."
Jan 17, 2017 1:32 am
"So are we raiding an Imperial warehouse, then?" Jack says, brow raised somewhat in interest and a hint of disbelief.
Jan 17, 2017 1:44 am
Savi chuckles politely and shakes his head. This should be fun.
Jan 17, 2017 4:47 pm
Thessa's eyes twinkle. "You did say high risk, high reward."
Jan 17, 2017 9:00 pm
Jack grins and takes a long swig of his beer. He leans back and relaxes into his seat, placing the container onto the table as he says light-heartedly, "Just checking to see if you were really gonna make my day like that, Thes." He turns to look at Savi and Doc. He doesn't speak, but it's obvious he's checking to see if there's any protest.
Jan 17, 2017 9:08 pm
Doc looks thoughtful for a moment then nods "Certainly sounds like an interesting proposal" with a slight smile whilst thinking to himself that they may be able to snag some of the bacta for themselves.
Jan 17, 2017 9:40 pm
Savi smiles. "I've yet to hear anything that would make this job unworthy of our consideration."
Jan 17, 2017 9:42 pm
Jack turns back to Thessa and summarizes, "Sounds like we're in, so far. What other details do you have for us?"
Jan 19, 2017 12:27 am
"Not many, but I do have questions for you to ponder. My contact there," here she presses an icon on the table and an Ithorian male appears, "will have more information for you. His name is Kiph Lok, or at least that's what he wants to be called." She frowns slightly. "He seems to find it inordinately amusing, so I wonder if perhaps it is a joke in his language." Shaking her head she continues, "The questions you should consider are these: how do you plan to get in? how do you plan to get out? and what will you use to transport the bacta? There are many things that have been tried, and some have even worked. Some have posed as regular transports...that would require stealing or buying such a vessel. Others have snuck in and removed the crates without anyone being the wiser. Others have bribed guards to look the other way...or officials to tamper with the shipping manifest. As I said, many options, many questions. I cannot advise you to the best one, as it depends on your skills...and, I suppose, style." She smiles again.
Jan 19, 2017 1:21 am
"How much is your contact hoping to receive? What can expect in terms of pay per....crate?"

"Obviously the more we get the more he pays us, but too little and it isn't worth the effort or risk while too much reduces out chances of success, which in turn reduces profit. So we will need to find a sweet spot with which we are comfortable."

"These are things which will help us determine a suitable strategy."
Jan 19, 2017 7:55 am
Doc leans back with a frown on his face "Bespin? Didn't realise there was an imperial facility there....last I heard it was a pretty popular hotspot for gamblers, could be a way in" he looks to the others.
Jan 19, 2017 6:53 pm
"Not a bad idea, but could take time." Avox says, in response to Doc's idea. "We could always send in someone sneaky and expendable to scout out means of infiltration." The bounty hunter says patting Jack's chair. "Then it would only be a matter of grabbing and going, and if he's caught we've lost nothing of value."

Jack lets the barb brush off like it were nothing, not wanting to antagonize one another in front of the employer, "Could do that. There are a couple of us that are light on our feet, but calling it 'just a matter of grabbing and going' is making light of a large issue. Still, I think scouting the place should be the first step no matter what the plan becomes after that."

"As far as an answer to your questions, Thes, we're going to need eyes on the site before we can know how best to approach it."

Thessa replies, "I would expect nothing less. My questions were for you, not for me. It doesn't matter to me how you get the bacta." She turns to address Savi, "As to payment, my contact has already been paid and has no interest in a shipment of bacta himself. In return for the information, and any help he provides, I would ask that you sell half of your shipment to me, here, at fair price. I have no desire to swindle you. As you say, it is more profitable for me to build relationships and trust than to underpay. The remaining half of the shipment, you can do with what you wish. I would be happy to buy it as well, or you can choose to find other markets that would fetch an even higher price. The further you travel from the Core, the more desperate people are for even basic supplies." She frowns, "And there are many worlds under Imperial embargo that need it even more."
Jan 20, 2017 12:40 am
Savi nods and retreats inward as he contemplates various possibilities. He takes the last portion of water from his glass and swallows it. Replacing the glass on the table he listens politely to the dregs of the conversation in case any more relevant points or questions make an appearance. If none are forthcoming, he will try to encourage the group to return to the ship to plan en route.
Jan 20, 2017 3:41 am
Avox will acquiesce to Savi's encouragements, and head out to the ship along with anyone else who is ready to go.
Jan 20, 2017 6:45 am
Jack rises to his feet, "Sounds good. See you soon." He'll depart with the others, when ready.
Jan 20, 2017 10:12 am
Thessa stands and walks with you to the door of the cantina. "Good luck, and may the Force be with you."
Jan 20, 2017 2:17 pm
Bo heard the news when the crew arrives back. "Bacta? Medico suppwies ah ohways pwafitable"
Jan 21, 2017 7:34 pm
Just as the last of your crew walks up the ramp to the ship, you notice a group of roughly-dressed and well-armed beings approaching. One calls out, "Oy! This the 'Horizon Chaser'?"
Jan 21, 2017 9:25 pm
Jack departs from the bar, but not before draining the rest of his beer and leaving the bottle on the bar as he passes by. He ponders over Thessa's words, and tried to figure out what to make of them. He never knew what to think about mentions of the Force and the Jedi. His mother used to talk about the Force on occasion, and as a child he enjoyed those stories, but he's never seen any proof of it. He's heard from so many that it's just a myth. If it is real, then by his understanding, the Force hasn't been with him or his family for as long as he can remember.

His internal conflict is disturbed by the folk approaching them at the ramp of the ship. This doesn't look good. Jack, standing at the top of the ramp, turns and hooks his thumbs into his belt. He keeps his hands close to his holstered blasters. He narrows his eyes at the people who have approached them, trying to get a read on their intentions.

Going to make a Streetwise check:

Jack is specifically pondering if these guys would be Quin Telsh's thugs, if there is a way to determine that.

Jack sees the thugs look confused at Doc's words, and confer for a moment before calling out, "We was told this were her ship. We're looking for a skinny little Twi'lek, name o' Ada." Jack has seen beings like these on many worlds, lowlife muscle sent by petty criminals. He can't help but drift a hand onto one of his blasters as he hears his friend's name, a move that is not lost on one of the thugs, who mutters something to the leader.
Jan 22, 2017 2:45 am
Not as unfamiliar with combat as the crew might believe him to be, Savi knows low level thugs when he sees them. These lot may be dumb and expendable, but it only takes one lucky shot from an incompetent with a blaster to end the life of a hero.

Standing with Jack at the top of the ramp, he slips his hand under his robes and grip the hilt of a blaster the Crew hasn't yet seen him use. He used to bullseye training droids at the snooty training facility back on Coruscant. Those lessons had cost him plenty, perhaps it was time to see if those credits and hours had been well spent...
Jan 22, 2017 6:08 am
Avox grumbles under his breath as he walks from deeper into the ship to the top of the ramp. "Whose asking?" He growls down at the men.
Jan 22, 2017 9:39 am
OOC:
Was the thug referring to Ada as a Twi'lek intentional or a typo?
Jack parted his lips to add a careful lie upon Doc's, but Avox beats him to the punch with his own brand of social skill. He glances sideways at the Gank for a moment, and mutters something under his breath about tact.

Typo, but let's roll with it. They're not very smart.
The lead thug, an Aqualish, growls,"We're askin' on behalf of our boss, who wants words with Ms. Ada. She owes him a fair bit of cred, and seems she's been fallin' behind a bit."

It is at this point that all of you realize that you haven't actually seen Ada in quite some while. She might be on the ship...or perhaps she never came back from the cantina.

Jack knows that the only way to de-escalate the situation is to give the thugs what they want, or prove you don't have it. If Ava's not on the ship, showing that would probably be enough to send them on their way. If she is, then only a show of greater power will cause them to back down.
Jan 22, 2017 3:13 pm
Thinking to himself, Savi is sure they can outwit this lot. If Ada is on the ship she just needs to hide. Just in case she is on board and hasn't over heard any of this Savi turns to Jack and says, "Clearly these gentlemen don't understand they've got the wrong ship and crew. I'll show them around while you warm up the engines."

In an effort to stall and give Jack time to properly hide Ada, Savi walks down the ramp with his arms wide and a disarming smile smeared across his face. "Gentlemen, we have a schhedule to keep and are rather pressed for time. Please allow me to show you around our vessel. You'll see we are not harboring the person for whom you search."

With a nod to Avox, he continues, "My friend here is not a fan of armed strangers coming aboard our ship, as I'm sure you'd understand. It is clear you are wise to the ways of the galaxy. We would never expect to board your ship fully armed. So, would you rather leave your arms with a compatriot who remains here, or would you prefer to keep your arms and send one person on board to search. That one person could, of course, keep his arms too."

Savi smiles broadly and raises his eyebrows awaiting their answer.

Bo hides in the entry way of the ship with her sword drawn. Any other crew members nearby she will watch to see if they have any clues via body language on how we are going to deal with these guys.
Jan 23, 2017 12:20 am
Jack gives Savi a cautionary look before he steps back into the ship to go look and see if Ada is aboard. Once he's out of sight, he'll pull his blasters from their holsters, ready to charge back over to the ramp at the first sound of trouble.
Jan 23, 2017 1:13 am
The thugs confer again, indicating with waving arms and angry tone that they don't agree on the best course of action. After a minute or two, a skinny Rhodian is thrust forward. The Aqualish speaks, "He'll search, we'll wait here...with you." The other ruffians rest hands on blasters, indicating this demand is not negotiable.
Jan 23, 2017 1:18 am
"Of course. My compatriot," Savi nods toward Avox, "will show your friend around the ship. I'm happy to wait here while we clear up this misunderstanding."
Jan 23, 2017 1:30 am
"Ada?" Jack whispers as he meanders through the ship (first checking the cockpit) in search of his friend.
Jan 23, 2017 3:19 am
"Hurrm..." Avox grumbles. "Lets make this quick skag." He says to the one who will be doing the searching, and gestures for him to come aboard the ship.
Jan 23, 2017 10:02 am
Jack sees no sign of Ada as he searches the ship, until he reaches her quarters where he sees a blinking light on her computer terminal.
Jan 23, 2017 10:04 am
The Rodian seems to be quivering as he fumbles with his scanner and follows the Gank up into the ship. He's muttering under his breath in a worried tone, "Sure, send the Rodian, he's expendable."
Jan 23, 2017 10:08 am
Under normal circumstances, Jack would never invade Ada's privacy like this, but now he was concerned as to her whereabouts. He steps into her quarters, closes the door behind him, and activates her terminal to see what's there.
Jan 23, 2017 4:03 pm
Bo sheaths her sword before the other Rodian is in view and watches them pass.
Jan 23, 2017 6:12 pm
"Don't touch anything you don't have to." Avon says, showing the rodian the now empty cargo bay. Before moving on to other parts of the ship.

Doc loiters at the top of the ramp, next to the controls to retract it if things turn nasty with their new friends.
Jan 24, 2017 12:25 am
The Rodian shrugs agreeably and holds his scanner with both hands, watching it carefully as he follows Avox about the ship. He smiles nervously when he sees Bo, but otherwise ignores the crew.
Jan 24, 2017 12:28 am
As Jack activates the terminal, a holo of Ada appears. She nervously looks over her shoulder before speaking in a hush, "Jack...I hope this is you, Jack. Look, they found me. I saw their ship on the way in. I didn't want to say anything, because I knew you'd stop me, but I'm not going to put you or the crew in danger." She looks down as sadness overcomes her features, then looks back up with a pleading look. "Please, don't look for me. You'll only make it easier for them to find me. I'll be in touch when I can, but for now...I have to go. Take care of the ship, my friend. I'll miss you." The holo winks out at these final words.
Jan 24, 2017 12:48 am
Jack reemerges from the depths of the ship perhaps a few moments longer than it should've taken for him to look for Ada. One might note the tightness in his jaw, the subtle edge of sadness in his face, and the slight red color around the corners of his eyes. He approaches, sets his hands on his hips, and looks at the ground in front of him. "We're good to leave," he says, making no eye contact. He turns away and begins to walk toward the helm of the ship, speaking softly, "I'll be in the pilot's seat."
Jan 25, 2017 12:49 am
The Rodian completes his scan of the ship and returns to his crew. As he walks down the ramp he calls out, "No sign of the Togru...I mean Twi'lek." His crewmates grumble and some of them cast dark looks at the ship, but they leave peacefully.
Jan 25, 2017 1:42 am
Savi lets them leave without saying a word. He turns and walks back on board looking for anyone who can update him on where Ada is and whether or not the crew is ready to depart.
Jan 25, 2017 2:55 am
Avox sees the rodian back to the ramp and watches them go, saying nothing to Jack. Once the crew is aboard and their "guests" have gone out of sight he nods to Doc to close the ramp. "Damn dirty, scaly..." he begins to say, and stops himself with a glance at Bo, letting his statement die in the air. He heads to the helm as well, to see to the group's plan for their next task.
Jan 25, 2017 4:04 am
Jack has already radioed ahead to the docking control in order to get clearance to head out. While waiting for a response, he's slumped forward in the pilot's chair, one arm draped over his knee while the other holds his head in his hand. He doesn't move, and seems so caught up in whatever he's thinking about that he doesn't notice others enter the cockpit.
Jan 25, 2017 7:57 am
Doc retracts the ramp and seals the ship up, ready for launch before moving back to his cabin to check his medical supplies.
Jan 25, 2017 8:57 pm
Since no one seems to be eager to come forward with any kind of update, Savi seeks one out. He finds Jack in the cockpit and immediately learns most of what he needs to know from his friend's posture. Unsure whether to leave the proud man his space, or give him an ear, Savi simply says, "Is there anything we can do?"

His tone clearly indicating his attempt to convey his genuine concern without setting foot in the realms of either pity or condescension.
Jan 25, 2017 10:03 pm
Jack looks up toward Savi when he speaks, lowering his arm and leaning back in the chair. It wasn't a secret that Jack and Ada were close friends from a young age, due to the stories they told of the trouble they would get into, and how the way they would talk to one another was so riddled with inside jokes that it seemed like another language. Jack simply looked Savi in the eye and calmly spoke, "You could plot our hyperspace route." His request ignored the heart of the problem, but there was little anyone could do about that.
Jan 25, 2017 10:17 pm
With an easy smile he says, "And I would if I weren't as useless as a ball gown on a Rancor at astrogation." He turns and adds, "I'll get someone more useful."

At the last moment he fires over his shoulder, "Let me know if you ever need an over wordy know-it-all."

Savi strolls back toward the common room and puts a question out to the group. "Who's the best at astrogation here? Jack could use a hand. Bo?"

The Horizon Chaser lifts into the air and soars into space. She isn't moving as smoothly as she once was, but Jack is a competent pilot and has no difficulties. Once free of the gravity well, Bo pulls back on a lever and the stars smear into the lines of hyperspace. A clock begins counting down: 29 hours to your destination.
Jan 30, 2017 11:15 pm
Jack slumps back into his chair and lets out a long sigh. He looks over at the co-pilot's chair, where he used to sit, and frowns. Ada used to always stay in the pilot's seat for hours during hyperspace travel, just in case something needed doing. He felt wrong about abandoning those same duties, and so he remained.
Jan 30, 2017 11:24 pm
Avox eventually get to the cockpit and, despite the atmosphere, flat out asks Jack "What became of Ada? Did she split?"
Jan 30, 2017 11:27 pm
"Yeah," Jack says, looking over a few of the controls on this side of the cockpit. It would take him some time before he got his bearings. "She had some people after her," he continues, "Thought it best to not involve us."
Jan 30, 2017 11:55 pm
Avox folds his arms and grunts in response, then asks "Are you gonna be able to handle being full time pilot?" His tone takes an air of concern for a flash, but then settles on his usual abrasive manner, adding "Space collision is not the way I want to die."
Jan 31, 2017 12:02 am
"Then be sure not to get on my nerves, lest I crash this thing just to get back at you," Jack says, a smirk appearing on his face, "I'm known to be spiteful on occasion."
Jan 31, 2017 12:44 am
As Savi walks past the cockpit in search of a restful spot, Jack and Avox hear a loud "Ha!" immediately following Jack's comment regarding his "occasional" attitude.

The playful jab is followed by a slightly farther away, "...and I occasionally talk too much."
Jan 31, 2017 1:28 am
Jack looks down at the piloting controls with a big smirk on his face. "Good one," he mutters, barely loud enough for even Avox to hear.
Jan 31, 2017 1:50 am
Avox heads out, spending the remainder of the trip barely talking to anyone. He eats in the cafeteria when it is time to, and otherwise spends his time in his quarters. He takes apart and oils some parts of his gun, ensures it has proper output, and cleans the attachments of his armor that come off. At one point he even sleeps.

Jack spends most of the trip in the pilot's chair, occasionally leaving it up for someone else to keep an eye on as he goes to rest in his bunk. More often than not though, he can be found sleeping at the helm itself. More than a few times he listens to Ada's last message, hoping that he might be able to find some way to contact her within it, though the effort proves unsuccessful.
Jan 31, 2017 8:49 am
Doc spends most of the trip in his cabin reading up on a number of medical texts on his data pad (related to the biology of the rest of the crew's races in particular) only occasionally surfacing to grab a bite to eat and check the readouts coming from the engines and other ships systems.

After a little over a day in hyperspace, the stars reform and the cloud giant Bespin looms before you. Bespin is famous across the galaxy for two things: Tibanna gas, its major export, and a thin layer of breathable atmosphere called the Life Zone (unusual in a gas giant).

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/n4w1n2uld1y019r/Bespin_EotECR.png

Floating in this narrow band are a number of cities and towns; the most famous by far is the capital: Cloud City.

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/5xhn9b3gkufb7lq/Cloud%20City.jpeg

The Horizon Chaser is easily granted permission to dock at the city; millions of visitors come every year to enjoy its resorts, spas, and casinos.

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/y7bgakxa2qw1qd4/Cloud%20City%20interior.jpeg

The first 50 levels are full of these tourist destinations, but you are headed deeper, into the residential area of Port Town. Your contact runs a pawn shop there, which you are able to find with little difficulty.
Feb 5, 2017 11:42 am
The interior of the pawn shop is dim and smells of dust and disuse. Myriad unloved belongings are piled haphazardly, with no apparent order or care. Spare parts and broken droids lie beside caff makers and musical instruments. At the back of the store, behind the counter, looms an Ithorian, who watches you enter. His eyes widen as the group grows in number; seldom are so many different species gathered together in Port Town. He rumbles, "Welcome…did you have something in particular you were looking for? Or are you looking to sell?"
Feb 5, 2017 12:24 pm
Jack, eyeing the place to ensure there aren't any others that might eavesdrop, approaches the counter and asks casually, "Hello there. Are you Kiph?" He places his hands up, above board, onto the counter top.
Feb 5, 2017 3:15 pm
Savi listens in to the burgeoning conversation. It would require a deft hand to get the information the group would need without giving away so much as to place the team and their job in jeopardy. If anyone could manage it, it would be Jack.

That said, Savi was ready to step in to play either good cop or bad depending on what Jack might need. Kiph seems a straightforward type, but making assumptions in this galaxy based on appearances was a quick way to a nasty end.

Bo looks around the shop for any interesting computer, electronics or droid parts that she might use. She is interested in reprogramming and fixing the droid still, but also in anything that might catch her eye. She will look up from time to time to pay some attention to the conversation with the Ithorian. She stops at some medical equipment and picks it up to examine the quality. Wonder if this comes from the same source as the becta?
Feb 5, 2017 4:57 pm
Doc loiters near the door, trying to make it look like he's looking over the shops wares there but mainly trying to keep an eye outside to make sure they're not surprised.
Feb 5, 2017 7:38 pm
The Ithorian looks intrigued as he replies, "I am Kiph Lok." A hand slips beneath the counter.
Feb 5, 2017 9:21 pm
Please, don't shoot me, Jack thought, keeping his eyes from looking at Kiph Lok's hand, hoping that he wasn't the twitchy and nervous sort.

Jack smiles, keeping his hands shown. "I'm Jack. My associates and I recently made friends with a nice woman on Dantooine who said we should come here if we needed medical supplies. She said you might be able to tell us how to acquire them cheaply?" Jack's smile took on a different meaning with the tone of his voice.

Savi smiles openly. He loves the subterfuge and cleverness. With a nod he follows the crew inside.

Untoward as in "dangerous"?
Feb 8, 2017 12:56 am
Bo spots several droid parts that might be helpful in repairing the droid from Dantooine, as well as a medkit and several stim packs.
Feb 8, 2017 1:02 am
Kiph stands by his computer station and begins pulling up data files. "Don't worry, we can speak quite openly here. I have both physical and electronic barriers to spying." He gives Doc a sly look. "Wouldn't do for someone to get information without paying for it." He turns back to his screen. "Thessa said you were looking for bacta, and that you wanted information on an Imperial warehouse. Bold. I like it. Tell me what you need; I will either have it, or tell you where you can get it.
Feb 8, 2017 3:25 am
Jack leans against a wall next to the terminal, "We're going by the warehouse after this to have a look, but I expect that they aren't going to let us take a gander inside." He starts counting off on his fingers, "Blueprints of the structure, descriptions of how the bacta is stored - big crates, small containers, how many a piece. Let's see... any information on what the security is like, both inside the building and any response teams from elsewhere."

"That should start you off." He looks toward the rest of the team for their input.
Feb 8, 2017 10:51 am
Kiph punches some more buttons. "Here are the blueprints. The warehouse stores large crates of bacta packs; easy to transport and easy to sell. Within each crate will be boxes containing the packs themselves. The Imperials store them here, then send out crates or individual boxes, as need be."

Feb 8, 2017 11:25 am
Jack turns to look at the console, brow raised slightly, "Damn, that was fast." He leans in, eyes scrolling over the details for a bit. "This is definitely getting some ideas brewing," Jack says, leaning back so that others can get a close look.

"I've got some more questions, but... what about you guys?" Jack turns to the others, "What are your thoughts?"
Feb 8, 2017 5:01 pm
Bo comes up with a handful of scraped parts and some medical equipment. She sets them down on a counter. "I can wikely get in and out no pwoblem, but not wif many packs ah bectah. Maybe open some doors doh?"
Feb 8, 2017 6:15 pm
Doc looks thoughtful for a moment "The main thing that's on my mind at the moment is how big are the storage crates the bacta is in? That's going to have a big impact on any plans we make."
Feb 8, 2017 7:14 pm
Savi nods as Doc lays out his primary concern. "Ease of transport will determine how much we can take in a go. Security numbers and details will be another main determinant."

After a pause..."How often do they "send out crates"? To where do they send them, typically. And how many people accompany a crate when they ship them out? Do they take them straight out on transports or do they first ferry them to a spaceport to be loaded?"

Savi stops rapid firing questions realizing he's giving Kiph way too much to digest at once. He has more questions, but is content to get some answers before slamming the poor Ithorian with even more.
Feb 8, 2017 11:07 pm
Jack grins at Savi's questions, liking where this is going.
Feb 9, 2017 12:08 am
Kiph ponders a moment. "I do not have a schedule, and there is no clear pattern from my observations. They pick up both small deliveries that are ferried up to ships in orbit, and larger deliveries that go directly into hyperspace-capable vessels," he indicates the loading spaces on the left side of the plan. "The internal boxes are standard shipping containers, used the galaxy over. Internal hover capacity, so the most difficult part is the inertia." He taps his fingers thoughtfully, "Guards....hrmm....usually depend upon the size of the shipment, but at least two."
Feb 9, 2017 2:49 am
Jack ponders for a moment, and then raises a finger and points at Kiph, "Any way to get credentials for a delivery? You know of any guards or workers in there that we could reliably bribe or blackmail?"

"...Or scare." Avox adds to Jack's idea. "We can take two guards if it came to it, but the warehouse will certainly have more."
Feb 9, 2017 10:15 am
Kiph nods, "It is not just the credentials, but the ship that will be your problem. I doubt you have...hrm...an imperial shuttle or the like?"
Feb 10, 2017 10:56 am
"Might be able to get one," Jack ponders, crossing his arms, "That sure would be convenient."

He raises a finger and asks, "Okay, how about some employees? Names, addresses if you have them, whatever you've got. People that work in or for the warehouse. Guards are good, too, but specifically I want people that process shipments."

He turns to the others, "If we can get some dirt on a few choice employees - maybe follow them around and figure out what we can about them - then we can make a fake shipment order. We can let them load up the shuttle for us, hit them in that moment and hijack it." He snaps his fingers, "Then we fly it to the Chaser. It's all the same karking stuff we would've had to do anyway, but we let them do the first half for us." He holds his hands out to the side as if to say 'whattaya think?' to the others.

"That could work..." Savi rubs his chin as he searches for potential holes in the plan. "We could also just take their place. I mean, if black mailing them proves unfruitful. We ambush them at or near their homes, assume their identities with their credentials and uniforms then walk in, out a shipment together, and fly it out."

He grins. "That's just a variation on a theme. A backup plan. I like the general idea though, Jack. It's not overly complex, which is where plans usually go wrong, yet it's devious and a bit vicious. Remind me never to piss you off." He chuckles.

"I do. Often, but generally after the fact." Jack replies with a grin.

"Either way works. I liked making our own shipment since that meant we could choose exactly how much bacta we wanted. Problem is that we're trusting our threats - blackmail, bribes or otherwise - to hold strong. Need to make sure we're not double crossed, so my plan banks on some good dirt that we could dig up." He shrugs halfheartedly, "It's a start, at least."

Savi nods. "I agree, but with the variation I suggested we can still create our own shipment. The only difference is we would be at more immediate risk since we'd be the ones in uniform in the installation actually putting everything together. If we bump into the wrong person, give the wrong answer, make a wrong turn...we'd be hard pressed to walk it back. And getting into trouble while in the belly of the beast would not be...ideal."

"Either way there is risk and payout. Which poison tastes best? I'm genuinely fine with either. As I suggested before, mine serves as a decent back up plan for if we don't dig up any usable dirt."
Feb 11, 2017 1:12 am
"Hrmm....you are certainly an inventive lot. I don't have access to Imperial employment records, but I do have a device that would enable you to gather the information you need, should you be able to get it into the right place." He forms the Ithorian equivalent of a grin. "And I may know someone from whom you can...borrow...a ship that should pass, if that becomes part of your plan."
Feb 11, 2017 12:16 pm
Jack nods at Savi's explanation, "I understand now." His smile is telling.

Though he speaks to Kiph, he looks at Bo, "I think we'll be able to get the device wherever we need, if you can point us in the right direction." He seems to look for confirmation from the Rodian.
Feb 12, 2017 6:12 am
Avox listens to Jack and Savi go back and forth with Kiph, nodding occasionally. "An imperial ship might be worth a tidy sum itself. If we were able to steal it and the bacta, it may increase profits."
Feb 12, 2017 6:21 am
"Fencing an Imperial ship is a problem in its own right," Jack says uncertainly.
Feb 12, 2017 6:26 am
"There are lots of people in the galaxy that would love to have one as well." Avox argues.
Feb 12, 2017 6:51 am
Jack pinches the bridge of his nose in frustration as he takes a slow, calming breath.
Feb 12, 2017 7:57 am
Seeing the rising tension in Jack Doc decides to intervene "Asides from the fact we'd need to grab one first fencing an Imp shuttle isn't really what we're here for....maybe worth considering trying to fence it if there's not too much heat on us after the job but I've a feeling our best bet will be just to ditch it"
Feb 12, 2017 12:59 pm
"So what's this device like," Jack begins to ask Kiph, giving Doc a look of appreciation, "And where do we need to get it?"

Savi smirks as someone else has drawn Jack's frustration for a change, then refocuses on the questions and planning at hand.
Feb 12, 2017 3:37 pm
Kiph presses on the even surface of his desk and a small hatch opens. A cylinder, about 2 cm wide and 5 cm long, rises up out of the desk with a hiss. He takes it and passes it to Jack. He demonstrates how to activate the device by twisting it and placing it against the wall of the shop, where it magnetizes to the wall with a clunk. "If you can get this onto a computer station in the Imperial recruiting office, it will download the data we need in about 25 seconds. I will leave it to you as to how to get access. Having two humans in your group is certainly an asset. He hands over a small datapad, of the kind used for tourists as an interactive map, after keying in some information. "The recruiting office is here, the warehouse here, and my friend who collects ships is here."
Feb 13, 2017 12:45 pm
Jack tosses the device up and catches it once, testing its weight in his hand. Looking it over a bit he says, "Sounds good, Kiph."

"That's all that I have for now. Unless these others have questions, I'm good to let you get back to your work," Jack explains, looking curiously at the others. He slips the device into a pocket on his jacket.
Feb 13, 2017 3:09 pm
"I'm ready to gather some info so we can put a plan together." Savi nods at the Ithorian and gives a genuine smile. "Thanks again for your help. I'm sure this will work out for both of our benefit."
Feb 13, 2017 3:41 pm
Bo nods continuously throughout the conversation. She seems to not show any concerns about getting the device in the recruiting office.

She does state "Impwials typicwee don't unifohm Wodians. I might not be of use on the instawation. I can ahways swice from dah ship or swip by somehow."
Feb 13, 2017 11:53 pm
Avox follows the others without saying anything more than a grumble.
Feb 14, 2017 12:27 am
Kiph returns to his desk and reaches below. The shades clatter back from the windows and door, allowing you to egress should you wish. As you gather he indicates the parts and supplies that your party had selected. "Shall I hold on to these, or do you wish to purchase them now?"
Feb 14, 2017 3:24 am
Jack turns to Boha and says, "I think slipping by might be the best thing for us. Savi or myself could get in, certainly, but what would we do from there unless we had uniforms?"

He shrugs, "I think it might be best if you could get this device onto one of the computers sometime after their hours of operation."

Sitting in a booth with a drink in front of him he's barely touched he's been careful to position himself with a good view of the street any local security forces would head down to the office in the event of an alert being triggered, his commlink in his off hand ready to signal Bo in the event of any unexpected company heading his way.

Jack, meanwhile, is inside the same cantina as Doc, but is paying no attention to the goings-on outside. He's always trusted the quiet Rodian in these instances. And so Jack sits at the bar, a few empty drinks around him on the counter and another in his fist as he ponders recent events.

Is there someone I should speak to, or a different place to visit for recruitment into the intelligence branch? I'd be more than happy to serve, It's just that I would be better suited toward snatching up tid bits of intel rather than charging head long into a fray. I leave that sort of thing to the real heroes." He winks and pats the trooper on her armoured shoulder.

Feb 23, 2017 3:58 pm
Doc sighs with relief as the troopers move off, picking his drink up without thinking about it and downing it. Hearing Bo's query he starts heading to the door of the cantina and discreetly comms Bo a simple "All clear" in return before heading off down the street.
Feb 23, 2017 5:46 pm
Avox gets to the area in a huff, but calms down as he hears the "all clear" on the comm.
Feb 24, 2017 12:42 am
I did lay it on a little thick. But you lot bought it so, I'm happy.

Savi watches the troopers continue down the street. Unsure whether he did a good job of deflecting a threat, or just prolonged one by keeping the patrol hanging around longer than they would have, he returns to his bench and takes out his datapad.

Bo needs to finish up soon. I'm going to start looking suspicious here.
Feb 24, 2017 1:04 am
Nothing else is immediately obvious that would be useful in the office, and the streets are clear.
OOC:
Next steps? Rest? Reconvene? Reconnoiter?

OOC:
I think we were hoping to look through the data we acquired with Kiph and figure out if blackmail is a possibility, or if we're going to have to threaten some of these folk.
Feb 24, 2017 8:30 am
OOC:
Yeah, I would have assumed we'd have planned to reconvene somewhere after the 'caper' to review the data and decide upon next steps
Feb 24, 2017 9:45 pm
Seeing no obvious threats, only Savi heading back inside, Avox turns and walks back to Kiph's shop where he was to meet everyone. He did not like waiting, but from there the group was going to decide whether they needed to head all the way back to the horizon or not.
OOC:
Hope that's okay, I like to settle things in character as much as possible. If I'm reaching ever just let me know.
Feb 25, 2017 12:16 am
Kiph welcomes Avox back, but recognizing he is waiting on his companions does not press him for news of the heist.
Feb 25, 2017 12:26 am
Once Savi sees Bo leave the recruiter's office safely, and after waiting an appropriate amount of time as to not raise any eyebrows, he stands up and casually stows his datapad. Strolling along in an attempt to convey the easy manner of an everyday citizen with no particular hurry or agenda, he then takes a round about route back to Kiph's, making sure at every opportunity he is not being followed.

Choosing discretion as the better part of valor, Savi ignores the stalker and continues on his way. He does, however, keep his eye on her as they separate and maintains a tight vigil on his surroundings as he makes his way to his destination.
Feb 25, 2017 5:11 am
Jack stumbles out of his chair when he notices Doc leaving. He forgets his commlink on the bar at first, and doubles back to grab it up before making his way to Kiph's. He keeps a half-full container of the local swill that he drinks occasionally as he saunters into the pawn shop.

Doc arrives back at Kiph's shortly after Avox, nodding to everyone there.

As everyone gathers, Avox asks "How did it go? I heard problems on the comm."
Feb 26, 2017 12:14 am
"Couldn't have been too bad," Jack says slowly, taking another swig of his drink as he steps closer to the counter, "We're all here, and not being shot at. Good job, Bo."
Feb 26, 2017 3:48 pm
Yeah, well done, Bo. That took guts." Savi leans against a wall and takes in the crew. "Let's see what we've found, shall we?"

Kiph doesn't take long to produce the list of personnel assigned to the warehouse. He gives it to you on a datapad.

As he does, he rumbles, "The data you acquired will be most helpful to me. In thanks, please take whatever spare parts and supplies you need from my store."

Feb 26, 2017 9:00 pm
"Good fo uh Wodian, you mean?" Bo responds to the praise with some skepticism. She takes complements with some difficulty. "Who is our mark?"
Feb 27, 2017 1:10 pm
"Good for a Rodian, sure," Jack confirms, but adds, "But also good for a gank, a human, the galaxy's stealthiest Hutt, or the kriffing Emperor. Point is, good job."

Jack takes a moment to ponder the names, "We probably won't hit the jackpot on the first try. We might have to get to know a few of these folk." One of the profiles catches his eye and he ponders, "Melleriana Spince. Disgruntled assistant, fed up with her boss doesn't sound too far-fetched." He looks up to Kiph and asks, "Do you know anything about any of these folk to point us in the right direction here? Wouldn't happen to have any dirt on anyone here, would you?"
Feb 27, 2017 9:55 pm
Savi nods at Jack's choice. ""Assistants also might have dirt on their boss. Good starting point. I also like the idea of investigating one of the drivers or pilots. Vara Pele, Resource Management could be useful as well. There's a lot to choose from."

After pondering for a moment he looks to the whole crew, "Should we investigate this list one at a time or should we split up and investigate a few at once? If we want to stick together, let's start with Jack's mark. I trust his gut. Otherwise we should each pick someone promising and meet up back here after a brief recon."
Feb 27, 2017 10:28 pm
"Splitting up completely is too risky. We should do two or three groups." Avox responds. "That way we can get this done quick without risking the whole operation to one person screwing up." Then he pauses, "To be clear, we are only looking into these people? I am up for capturing them at any time."
Feb 27, 2017 11:49 pm
Savi smiles at Avox's zeal. "That's the next stage, Avox. First we need to do some background work to make sure we're grabbing the right one."

I'll give you information based on the results and nature of your roll.

Doc looks over the list "I'll take a look into the Clinical Tech, Urootor Lissiri. Might be able to shake some info through what official channels are still open to me" as he turns and starts working on his datapad.
OOC:
Ok, not sure what medical channels Doc would be able to tap into but thinking he'd at least have access to something akin to Linkedin or FaceBook for medical peeps, other than that would look into if there are any public medical reports that may indicate they've been involved in anything in the past they are trying to hide. Using a Light Side point to boost the check

Well that could have gone better lol

Avox waits impatiently, showing this by tapping his foot. He is not the best at computers, and will likely just end up going with one of the others as protection or a threatening presence.
Mar 1, 2017 9:32 pm
"Happy to." He considers something for a moment. "How do you want to approach it? Good cop, bad cop? Or should we have some ruse, some reason for an interrogation or interview?"
Mar 1, 2017 10:50 pm
Avox shrugs. "Whatever of those seems most appropriate in the situation. If it was just for a piece of quick info, a threat would be fine. But if someone feels like the empire will protect them... it will be more challenging."

Savi nods. "I tend to favor hiding in plain sight. if we could forge some credentials we could, in an official capacity - one which they would feel compelled to respect, we could either threaten or charm her into doing what we wanted."

Seeing the confused look on his friend's face, Savi realized he went too wordy again. "What I mean is we could pose as ISB, just as an example, and either pretend to have something on them already and make them divulge what we already "know" then make them dance for our discretion, or come to them because we have a unique opportunity for advancement or to help the "cause" and recruit them into preforming a clandestine operation for the Empire."

"We'd just need uniforms and credentials...how hard could that be?" He grins.
Mar 2, 2017 10:35 pm
Jack ponders this for a moment, tapping his foot and staring down at the floor. Eventually, at the end of Savi's explanation, he looks toward Kiph. "Is that possible?" He asks.
Mar 2, 2017 10:54 pm
Doc shrugs "If we can get the ID's I may be able to get my hands on an Imperial uniform from the Science Department....could go in and fling some accusations about that we believe someone in the warehouse is a Rebel agent and is tampering with the bacta and we need out of hours access by a loyal citizen to check and remove any tainted batches"
Mar 3, 2017 12:43 am
Kiph drums his fingers as he considers Jack's question, but brightens at Jasvan's addition. "I do know someone who can...hrmm...make excellent identification, enough to pass a casual observer easily." He begins typing into his terminal. He straightens with a smile. "Now that is interesting...the ISB has actually filed that they are going to be making a visit...your story would be credible. Apparently someone has been skimming the books." He tilts his head, "Of course, you will have to be careful not to run into the actual agents. They are due to arrive tomorrow evening."
Mar 3, 2017 10:40 am
"How much are these IDs going to cost us?" He asks Kiph.
Mar 3, 2017 4:46 pm
"That will depend on your negotiation skills, right Senator?" he winks at Savi.
Mar 3, 2017 11:45 pm
Savi grins. "Then they should be fairly cheap." He winks at Kiph.
Mar 4, 2017 3:38 am
Perhaps it's just the drink, but Jack can't help but laugh at that.
Mar 5, 2017 1:04 am
Kiph rumbles and nods his head in appreciation. "The woman you are looking for is named Eatiu Swage. She is a Rodian with a taste for unique clothing, and can usually be found at the Wretched Nexu." He holds out a hand for your datapad map and keys in the location. "Ask her for tickets to the show, and then pass her a description of the ID you need."
Mar 5, 2017 7:55 pm
Savi nods in appreciation and thanks the Ithorian, then turns to Jack with a bit of a mischievous glint in his eye. "Unique clothing, eh? Think we should bring her a gift? Might be worth a quick stop by a shop on our way to see her. Gives us an obvious reason to talk to her for anyone watching, and nothing puts people in the mood to do favors quite like getting free gifts."
Mar 5, 2017 8:57 pm

Absolutely. There is a particular piece that is unique to Rodian women. You don't wear one yourself, as it is grossly impractical, but you have one for special occasions. What is it, and how is it worn?

"Well why you guys are doing that I'll sort some uniforms" Doc looks at Kiph "I assume you have a contact who would be able to produce some authentic imperial uniforms?"
Mar 6, 2017 3:04 pm
"I think Savi can work on the I.D.'s. Maybe in the meantime I'll check the warehouse and see what the process is for deliveries coming in and out. It's be good to know what that sort of process looks like for them." Jack sucks on his teeth momentarily before finishing off his drink with one final, long swig.

OOC:
The Rodian are into their theater dramas that are often violent with a great deal of intrigue. Mar 7, 2017 12:02 am
"Sounds like a plan." He turns to Bo. "Any advice on what to get that would impress Eatiu?"
Mar 7, 2017 7:19 am
Jack has a finger raised and his mouth open to protest when Avox starts to allay his fears. Jack only grins and shrugs, wondering for a moment just how predictable he is.
Mar 7, 2017 4:02 pm
"I have a few ideas. I will go with you?"
Mar 7, 2017 10:34 pm
"Sure thing." Savi takes the address of the shop as well as instructions on how to find Eatiu, thanks Kiph once again, wishes his friends luck on their end, and leaves with Bo.

"Let's head to the shop first, and spend as few credits and as little time there as possible."
Mar 7, 2017 11:25 pm
Avox grunts his goodbyes at the ex-senator. "I'll head back to the horizon when I'm done. If anyone runs into trouble, call out on the comm" He too leaves. Heading to the hangars and ship bays.

Mar 9, 2017 3:33 pm
Avox watches the ships come and go, and is able to identify a number of ships typically used by the Empire for transport. They seem to have an area cordoned off for their use, which is patrolled by stormtroopers. There is an officer fussing with them today, straightening armor and berating them about something. From the head shakes and shrugs that occur behind his back, this is not typical behaviour.

Kiph nods ponderously and reads his notes from his datapad, "Hrrm…yes, of course. I always like to start with interesting news as well! In cross-referencing the list of names you obtained with notable activity on the Holonet, I noticed an anonymous bounty to "find and retrieve" three individuals: a male adult human and two hatchlings, all with the last name Pele. What is interesting about that is that these are the family members of Vara Pele, who works at the warehouse. She continues to arrive at work, and has not made a ‘missing persons’ report for her family, who have not been seen in the past two days. School reports for the children indicate that they are ill."

"Yeah, can't argue that it isn't interesting. Thanks for that. What's the rest of the news?" Jack asks, looking away as he seems deep in thought over what to make of this new information.
Mar 20, 2017 11:47 pm
"Indeed. The good news is that I was able to find some 'dirt' - such a fascinating expression - on the woman you identified, Melleriana Spince. She and Dakarus Tamplin, the Deputy Comander, have been exchanging more frequent communication than one would expect given their respective roles. Many of the messages appear to be...hrm...perhaps an elaborate human courting ritual? Your ways are quite confusing to me. For example, what is a 'honey love muffin'?"

He immediately throws up a hand to forestall a response, "Nevermind, I probably don't want to know. The other messages of import convey that the two of them are scheming to supplant the Commander by implicating him in some fictional wrongdoing. Most ingenious, really."
Mar 21, 2017 9:01 pm
Avox nods "Ingenious, unless someone finds out. Someone like us." The gank looks at Jack. "How are we gonna use that?"
Mar 22, 2017 3:04 am
"Blackmail. I'm certain she wouldn't want others to know, especially not her commander." Jack chews his lip in thought, "Could also offer her a deal. If we succeed at this, it'd be her commander's failure. Might be to her benefit."
Mar 22, 2017 9:21 am
Kiph holds up one very large finger, "I should probably also mention the bad news." He turns to look directly at Jack, "A bounty hunter named The Mechanic has arrived on Bespin. My contacts say that he has accepted the bounty on you. Be careful while you are out and about...you are quite safe here, but he will be looking for you."

At the mention of the Mechanic he glances at Jack before shrugging "Doesn't really change the plan, we need to get this done before the real ISB show up anyway and as soon as we have done we're not sticking around" he thinks for a moment "Perhaps we can turn the situation to our advantage and stick some of the fallout from boosting the bacta onto this 'mechanic'....can't for the life of me think how we'd do that right this second but it would be nice if we could swing things that way."
Mar 22, 2017 9:28 pm
Jack's heart sinks, though he does his best to not let it show in his face. He draws up his hand and places it gently across his belt, where it can touch against his blaster; It helps to comfort him somewhat. "Noted," he says, but only because he can't find it in himself to elaborate on it.

He turns to Doc at the mention of it, and just nods his head, trying to uphold a composed appearance.
Mar 22, 2017 11:12 pm
Avox, you don't know much about the Mechanic, but you do know he (or she?) tends to work through droids.
Mar 22, 2017 11:13 pm
Kiph listens to your plans with interest, then suddenly cranes his neck to look over you. "Where are your other friends, Bo and Savi? I would have expected they would return before you." He looks slightly abashed, "I apologize if I am being over-curious."
Mar 24, 2017 3:42 pm
"Not certain," Jack says, looking to the others for some clarification. After a moment, he keys in on their comm channel...

"Bo. Savi. Either of you listening in?"
Mar 24, 2017 8:45 pm
"Jack, tell everyone on the comm link to be on the look out for Droid bounty hunters. this "mechanic" works through them mostly." He looks to Doc in the room with them, "And same for us. Be extra wary of droids."

Jack waits to hear from the rest of the crew before relaying the message.

What the...

The initial panic that grips Savi's mind is immediately squashed by his long years of diplomatic training. His was a mind honed for control, and it kicked in more sternly when the cause for alarm was elevated.

He took a breath. Think...

His best bet was to remain calm, keep his breathing steady and under control, and listen carefully to the goings on outside the container. He needed information...
Mar 27, 2017 12:33 am
Bo says groggy slurs into her communicator, "Wah da hewl happen to me? I tink I was attacked?"
She rolls about looking for any signs of what happened
Mar 27, 2017 9:25 am
Savi

After a moment the lid of the container is lifted off, and glowing yellow eyes peer down at Savi. Metal arms reach for him and he is unceremoniously lifted out of the box and deposited on the floor. Groggily looking around, Savi sees dim light and permacrete walls, and a very odd assortment of droids. He lifts his head to see the brown robe and angry amber eyes of a jawa, gesticulating wildly and chittering.

A battered protocol droid, its sheen long worn off, responds to the tirade, "But master, this IS the man you were looking for. He meets every parameter you set. Human male, facial hair, crew of the Horizon Chaser."

The jawa responds derisively.

The protocol droid stands up, looking affronted. "I certainly do not think they all look alike. I am programmed with advanced diplomatic and cultural recognition....or at least I used to be..." it trails off. It turns to gesture to Savi, "You there! What is your name?"
Mar 27, 2017 9:27 am
Bo

Looking around, Bo sees that she is at the top of the ramp of the Horizon Chaser. The parts she bought are scattered all around her. The only sign of Savi is his blaster, sitting inches from Bo.

Mar 28, 2017 9:02 am
"Attacked, Bo?" Jack replies, sounding alarmed, "By who? Are you alright? Is Savi with you?"
Mar 28, 2017 9:19 am
"Of course, there is a bucket of them over there," Kiph points out into the shop.
Mar 28, 2017 9:29 am

Allowing his eyes a moment to adjust to the light, and his mind a similar time frame to recalculate his predicament, Savi furrows his brow and looks from the Jawa to the droid addressing him.

"What's my name?" He thrusts a forefinger into the chestplate of the battered droid, "You're a protocol droid! You've kidnapped a law abiding citizen, subjected him to the most inhumane treatment, then have the audacity to demand his identity? Apr 3, 2017 1:36 pm
Doc finishes his exam of Bo "You'll be fine" he says, a slight twinge of disappointment creeping into his voice. He looks across at Jack "Sounds like your admirer. Presumably they've taken Savi for some reason, a hostage maybe? Did he have a commlink on him we can try to track?"
Apr 3, 2017 3:08 pm
"Hope so," Jack says with a contemplative look. "He must have taken him hostage, so that I couldn't just get off planet, I imagine."

Bo snaps to it and jacks into the computer through her slicer unit. "That's it? That's all you have to say for yourself?" Savi fixes the droid with his sternest scowl. After a moment he relaxes his face and starts scanning the room.

Speaking to himself, but with just enough volume to be heard, he mutters, "This is ridiculous." Then, in a clear attempt at communication with the others in the room, with a focus on the Jawa, he adds, "The civil thing to do would be to return me to the place where you unlawfully abducted me. Supposing that's too much to ask, I'll be satisfied with your pointing me to the nearest exit."

As the room stands stunned, he jolts them out of their slack-jawed gaping with an authoritarian "Now!"

Avox fires two quick shots, felling two more sets of eyes, then turns toward the sound of Savi's yelling. From behind him, through the smoke, the final set of eyes advances. A humaoid form emerges as it gracefully paces forward, idly twirling a long staff with electricity crackling from the end. It casts its eyes across the three rescuers and they seem to glow brighter for a moment before it says, "Statement: I am going to enjoy this."

Recognizing a fellow hunter, the droid lunges forward with the staff toward Bo.

Bo reels back into the smoke as the electric arcs between the staff and her body illuminating the clouds like a lightning storm. She is strangely exhilarated to have a worthy melee opponent. However the fact they got the jump on her makes her realize she might be bested. But, her backup seems more capable than these droids. She launches herself at the enemy.

Not sure what to do once having put himself in this position, Savi maintains pressure on the droid to keep it pinned to the wall. Without the use of his hands, he felt hyper aware of just how precarious his position was. His control over the current state of affairs was tenuous at best and likely to be fleeting.

Leaning his full weight against the droid he called out again, "I'm in here!" His only hope was to survive long enough to allow for his companions to free him.

Bo swings furiously at the droid in a flurry of sparks and the shriek of steel. It swings its head back to face her, but is unable to parry all of her strikes, so fast they fly. Scores begin to appear along its metal chassis. With a final manic swing, Bo perfectly strikes the weak point of its wrist and a metallic hand falls to the floor with a clatter. She stands, chest heaving as she gulps for breath, and the droid peers down at its hand.

"Statement: that is unfortunate." It looks back up at Bo and its eyes gleam brighter yet. "Observation: you are a worthy opponent. I will try not to kill you. It lunges forward again with the staff, which Bo easily bats aside - only to have her sword go flying as he twists the staff at the last moment.

Ubiquitous in cities across the galaxy, no one would think twice at seeing such a van in just about any location. Doc moves along the van to the front, where he sees the expected droid driver. What isn't typical is how the droid slowly turns its head to look at Doc with glowing red eyes.

Savi grunts as the droid struggles to free itself. Exerting his will and strength, such that it is, he manages to keep the tin man pinned against the wall.

"I'm in here!" he calls out once more. The constant sound, he hopes, allowing his friends to both pinpoint his location and realize he's still alive and kicking.
May 22, 2017 12:23 am
The hail of energy from Jack's blaster sears the droid. It takes a step back under the barrage, and pauses a moment. It's not clear if it is thinking or communicating, but it suddenly reaches down to scoop up its hand, holsters the staff, and runs toward the back of the warehouse. It holds onto the back of the speeder truck, which suddenly accelerates away.

In the small office, the protocol droid stops struggling and seems to sag. "Oh dear," it says, forlornly.

Just then, Avox manages to open the door, and both the droid and Savi come tumbling out.

Jack doesn't cease firing until the droid and truck are beyond his range. He curses aloud, but wastes no more time before charging toward Savi. "Are you hurt?" He asks, holstering one of his blasters as he eyes the droid suspiciously.

Shaking his head as the speeder departs Doc turns and runs back to the others "Is anyone injured?" he asks in general but makes a beeline for Savi
May 22, 2017 7:17 pm
From facedown underneath Savi the protocol droid replies, "I am undamaged, thank you for your concern! It is unusual for organics to be so concerned about my well-being. You are unusually kind individuals."
May 22, 2017 8:55 pm
"Erm, sure" Doc says, sounding somewhat confused "Friend of yours?" he asks Savi
May 23, 2017 12:00 am
Savi kicks the droid despite secretly admiring the humor of the droid's answer.

"I've been worse." He smiles at his friends. "Thanks."

Turning to Doc, "I have no idea who these droids are or what they were after." He glances quickly at Jack, making momentary eye contact. "They thought I was someone I wasn't, but they didn't let on as to who they thought that might be. It was clear to me they were after a bounty or to settle a score."

He takes in a brief breath and settles himself, "They were ticked I wasn't the barve they were after. Glad you all showed up when you did. My mouth was about to get me shot, I think."

Turning to show the group his bound hands behind his back he adds, "I know I can be a pain, but any chance one of you could help me out of these?"
May 23, 2017 12:51 pm
Jack smirks, setting about unbinding Savi. As he does, he says with a grin, "That barve you're referring to is me, I believe. Sorry that you got caught up in it. Can't say I'd rather it had been me, though."

"You, droid," Jack snaps, looking at the protocol droid, "What's your purpose here? What's your part in kidnapping?"
May 23, 2017 3:46 pm
Bo asks, "Anyone get dat ID on dah transpowt? Do we need to dewl wif dis pwoblem befo we make ah won on dah empiah?"
May 24, 2017 9:29 am
The protocol droid laboriously lifts itself up to a seated position as it replies, "The Master assigned me to coordinate the 'extraction'. That is a special bounty hunter term, which is not to be confused with kidnapping, which implies a degree of innocence, which...oh!" Its rambling explanation is cut short as it finally sees Jack.

It looks back and forth between Jack and Savi with evident surprise before sagging once more. "Oh dear. No wonder the Master left me behind."
May 24, 2017 9:38 am
Jack holsters a blaster and chuckles. "So you were the one that mistook this," Jack says, gesturing to his face with a circular wave of his hand, "With him?" He then points a thumb toward Savi. "I'd leave you behind, too."

May 24, 2017 8:37 pm
Savi rubs his wrists and smirks. "Seriously, there's a big difference between a debonair, refined man of the galaxy and a scruffy, nerf-herding fringer."

He turns from the droid and shoots Jack a quick grin to let the smuggler know he's none the worse for wear and no blame or hard feelings exist on his side. "They were after you, bud. So I'll defer to you and how you want to play this, but clearly there has to be some action taken here, no?"
May 25, 2017 12:02 am
The droid responds to Bo in her language, "I do. I'm afraid I've never been able to differentiate humans with facial fur. I find it very...unsettling."
May 25, 2017 3:31 pm
Kneeling next to the droid. In Rodian she says,"What is your plan now? You stick with us and help out, and we might lead you back to your master?"
May 26, 2017 1:16 am
Jack frowns toward Savi for a moment, and whispers, "Frankly, I don't know what to do. I don't know much about this hunter. Hopefully Bo can get something out of the droid."
May 28, 2017 12:24 am
The droid stutters in surprise, "You...you are asking my preference?"

He straightens for the first time and speaks more clearly, switching to Basic, "I do not wish to return to my master. I will help you, to make amends for my part in this..." He looks up at Savi, "I am sorry, Not Jack Fenn. Please, allow me to provide whatever meager assistance I can."

He turns back to Bo and finishes in Rodian, "And then please set me free. I do not know what I will do to care for myself, but I would be free, with no Master."
May 29, 2017 5:22 pm
In Basic Bo responds "You have ah wod. Aftah you help us you ah a fwee dwoid." In Rodian "What more can you tell us about your former master and where is he likely heading now?"
May 30, 2017 12:09 am
The droid replies in kind, "My master always gave me my instructions by text, so I am unaware of its nature, or gender, should it have one. I can tell you that my master has no pity for sentients, but is generally kind toward droids. Though not forgiving of failure, apparently." It pauses a moment before continuing, "It is a bounty hunter, but I am certain you have surmised that already. We flew on a YT-1300, but traveled from it in the speeder van just over...oh, it is gone. I do not know where my master's ship is berthed, but that is likely where it is headed."
May 30, 2017 10:42 am
Jack, picking up on the conversation, asks the droid, "If you saw the name of the vessel, or... or a serial code, maybe, would you recognize it?" He looks back to Bo, "Might be able to ask a dockmaster about any YT-1300s docked around this time. Won't be the shortest list, probably, but it'd help."

"Either way, we need to get back to work on our first job. Hopefully this bounty hunter takes a bit of time to recuperate.

Savi shakes his head, "Not yet, we still need to pick them up. They should be ready by now, though."
Jun 15, 2017 12:09 am
Avox scans the environment as he follows, "I didn't see much at the hangers...more Imperial presence than normal, but couldn't tell what had them stirred up."
Jun 15, 2017 3:14 am
Jack nods slowly, "Lets go get those IDs, then."
OOC:

Jun 17, 2017 2:43 pm
Bo agrees.
Head to the location to get the IDs.
Jun 18, 2017 8:35 pm
Savi interjects, "I'll head to the ship to rest, if you don't mind."

Avox, about to follow Bo and Jack, adds, "I'll come with you. Can't be losing our favorite politician."

Savi grimaces and is about to argue then sighs, "Can't say I would mind the company. Let's go."
Jun 18, 2017 8:40 pm
Bo, Jack, (and Doc?) head back to the Wretched Nexu. Eatiu isn't hard to spot, and she waves gaily when she sees you. An Aqualish and an Ugnaught are arguing at the bar and servers of various species hurry around the cantina serving drinks.
Jun 18, 2017 8:55 pm
Bo avoids the arguing pair. She will head straight toward Eatiu looking for any body language that might indicate she shouldn't.
Jun 20, 2017 2:35 am

Jun 21, 2017 12:25 am
Doc carefully watches the patrons of the cantina. The pair at the bar appear to be arguing over who's turn it is to buy a round, and the general atmosphere is one of boisterous consumption of intoxicating substances. No one appears overtly hostile, and no-one but Eatiu seems to notice your group.
Jun 21, 2017 10:14 am
Jack gives his best impression of Avox - calm and quiet - as he stands off to the side, arms crossed. He patiently waits for Bo to conclude business.
Jun 21, 2017 4:40 pm
In Rodian, "Thank you Eatiu. Our team appreciates your expeditiousness. I pray my efforts are an asset to Rodia." She gives a Rodian bow with her arms tucked close in a guarded fighting position.
Jun 21, 2017 9:19 pm
Eatiu replies in the same language, "These humans are part of your team, then? Very good. I had wondered. I wish you luck in your hunt. May you make us all proud."
Jun 22, 2017 9:02 am
Jack waits for Boha to confirm that business was concluded satisfactorily.
Jun 22, 2017 10:27 am
Not being overly familiar with the 'etiquette' of such situations Doc loiters close to Jack waiting for Bo to finish getting the ID's lokking somewhat out of place despite his best efforts.

Bo nods to Eatiu concludes the exchange and heads back to her team "Wooks wike we ah weady to go. Wets head back to dah ship eh?"
Jun 24, 2017 11:08 am
"Sure," Jack says, "Sounds good, Bo. We should go over everything again. Make sure that everyone is on the same track." He speaks quietly, but casually.
Jun 24, 2017 11:25 am
You head back to the ship to find Savi fast asleep in his bunk, and Avox pacing back and forth in the cockpit.
Jun 25, 2017 7:46 pm
Bo moves in without stirring Savi. She gives a thumbs up 'ready to go' gesture to Avox and she relaxes in the commons with the IDs out on the table for anyone to inspect. "Okay, what now? Wit dah Empire's diswike for non-humans I'm stiw newvous about going in undercovah"
Jun 25, 2017 8:38 pm
Doc unpacks the uniforms he had made "The imperials use a lot of non-human labour but yeah you certainly don't see many non-humans attaining any kind of rank. As I see it we keep things simple, the humans amongst us dress as the ISB officials and do the talking. Bo, if you are dressed as some kind of labour detail it should pass any suspicions but we may Have to have you carrying some equipment to make it look realistic, just try not to speak unless someone addresses you directly. Should get us in and then it'll be a simple case of finding our marks and putting the pressure on to get the to let us have access to the bacta and then I, as the ISB medical inspector, come up with some suitably convincing reason that the bacta is contaminated and then we take it away for the good of the Empire. he shakes his head after a moment "At least that's what I think should happen, doubtless we'll have to change things on the fly as soon as the bantha poodo hits the fan" he looks to the others inviting any counter comments.

Avox joins Bo and Doc, but says nothing at first, standing rigidly with his arms crossed. When Doc finishes his summary, he blurts out angrily, "I can't come."

Bo responds to Avox "Anyting we can hewp wiff?"
Jun 27, 2017 12:02 am
Avox stiffens at Doc's words, then deflates at Bo's. "No, no...you have to get the job done. I'm sorry. This is personal, and it can't wait. I'll come back if I can."
Jun 27, 2017 11:48 am
Jack quietly reads Avox for a moment, arms crossed and steely-eyed. After a bit he just nods his head and says, "Do what you have to do."

Frowning a bit, Jack looks downward in thought. "First Ada, now this. Savi's looking pretty exhausted after that whole mess, too.
I'm thinking we need to downsize the scope of this plan for now."
For a moment, Jack chews on his lip, "We need to be quick. The IDs and uniforms will get us in. We just need to move out as quick as we can afterward. Be in and out before they realize that they were robbed. As much as I hate to say it, without Avox' big head soaking lasers, we won't be able to handle a fight, if it comes to that."
Jun 27, 2017 5:53 pm
"I may be able to do something to even the odds if it comes to it" Doc says as he pulls the datapad with all the warehouse info on and starts studying the manifest records "There may be a few things lying around that I could use to create a gas to incapacitate most of the staff....would mean we'd need respirators to avoid any 'embarasment'" he trails off a tad as he starts a more in depth study.

Bo understands that Avox needs the freedom to get his personal stuff done. She hopes she will have the same treatment if she has to take time to attend Rodian affairs.

Bo turns to the droid, "Wooks wike we ah waborers, tetahi-iti". Meaning little one in Rodian. "We will go to Kiph Wok to see if he has respirators"
OOC:
..Or in Maori. I will use that as Rodian.
Bo heads to the pawn shop with the droid.

Absolutely! I'll take a Knowledge (Education) or Knowledge (Warfare) to recognize the components and know what proportions you'll need. Hard (3P) for the former and Average (2P) for the latter.

Unsure what he is looking for, Doc spends some time on the holonet doing research before he finds the recipe. The time is well spent, as just as he finished the list, Bo returns with the respirators. He'll need her help to break into the system to find the manifest for the warehouse.
Jun 28, 2017 8:52 am
As his companions are busy working, Avox quietly grabs his bag and leaves the ship.
Jun 28, 2017 10:55 am
"So, we're sneaking inside, getting some of the bacta, and taking one of their delivery ships out of there, right?" Jack asks, clarifying their plan. "Afterward, we were going to meet up somewhere with the ship, ditch the stolen vessel and take off." Clicking his tongue in thought, he gestures around to the ship, "Who's flying the ship there?" Jack makes a quick gesture to Savi, with a questioning look on his face. "Him?"

OOC:
Can Bo buy 6 respirators? She will just store em on the ship when not being used. Seems like a good thing to have handy for us and any guests.

That's exciting! I'm glad to hear!
"If we're looking to avoid a fight in the first place, I could try to fly the ship. It would cut off a lot of time if we didn't have to make two vehicle swaps." Jack says, his tone implying that he's not set on this decision, "Tsavo could go with you through the facility, with the uniform and I.D."
Jun 29, 2017 2:19 pm
Bo returns with six respirators and hands out one to everyone then finds a storage compartment and stuffs the rest in there. "We weady to go?"

Once it is settled that Savi will fly the ship, Jack takes some time to check his gear. Once confident in his prep work, he'll get into uniform, gather the rest of the crew (minus Savi) and head off.
OOC:
Ready to start when you guys are!
Jul 11, 2017 10:13 am
You make your way through the busy streets to the warehouse district. The majority of traffic is heading the other direction as tired workers trudge home. By the time you reach your destination, the crowds have thinned and you find yourselves alone, facing the warehouse. You have set a nearby landing pad as your rendezvous with Savi and the Horizon Chaser.
Jul 11, 2017 12:56 pm
Jack gestures for the others to follow, and strides toward one of the doors that he can see.
Jul 11, 2017 5:22 pm
Bo follows along. She fights an urge to be stealthy and tries to relax into her role as a laborer.
Jul 11, 2017 11:03 pm
A burly human guard straightens as you approach, hand going to the blaster at his hip. "State your busin..." he begins, only to cut himself short at the sight of Jack and Doc's uniforms.

He stands even straighter and pastes a pleasant expression on his face, "How can I help you, officers?"
Jul 12, 2017 9:22 am
Jack gives him a sharp glare, as though he's treading upon thin ice. He looks down at the rank on the soldier's uniform and gives his best look of disappointment, "It's above your pay grade. We know our way around, so your service isn't necessary. Man your post." He'll then go to move past him and into the warehouse.

He salutes and stands aside, "Yes, sir!" The door before your doesn't open, but before Jack even has a chance to look annoyed the man leaps forward to press his hand to the scanner and the door whooshes open.

Inside you see a pleasant reception area. The chairs are beautiful but clearly uncomfortable, and the desk facing you is vacant. A small potted plant provides the only colour. The only other exit from the room is to your right.
Jul 12, 2017 11:47 am
Jack attempts to move with a sense of purpose as he goes to the right.
Jul 12, 2017 3:27 pm
Bo and Tetahi (the droid) follow the 'officers' obediently.
Jul 12, 2017 4:30 pm
Doc nods at the guard as they walk past but then appears to dismiss him from his mind as he walks in step with Jack.
Jul 13, 2017 12:34 am
You pass through the door into a hallway. Directly across from the reception area are two doors with electronic locks, presumably leading to offices. To your left, a pair of doors lead further into the building. Flanking them on either side are sets of double doors that are more ostentatiously decorated, and again locked with handprint locks.
Jul 13, 2017 12:44 pm
Jack pauses for a moment at the doors, narrowing his eyes between the two options. After a moment, he begins walking toward the offices.
Jul 13, 2017 11:51 pm
The doors remain closed as you approach.

The voices grown nearer and the door to the office hisses open, revealing two very surprised human males. The older one is corpulent, with slicked black hair and his uniform jacket hanging undone. Jack, you recognize him from the ID resting in your pocket as Kael Jcor - occupant of this office and Commander of the base. His companion is taller and heavily muscled, his uniform pristine.

Jcor quickly recovers his oily smile and begins hastily doing up his jacket. "Officers! You are early! I wasn't expecting you for another hour. But of course you are welcome...." at this he notices Bo's work with the panel and turns an unbecoming shade of green.

His smile grows shaky as he returns his gaze to Doc and Jack, "How can I be of assistance?"
Jul 24, 2017 4:33 pm
Bo addresses her companions and does not look at the men that entered.
"Sirs, my work is complete. Nothing else seems out of place other than the previous irregularities I detected.
Jul 24, 2017 6:34 pm
Doc waves a hand dismissively at Bo without looking at him "Yes, we find arriving early to be useful in our investigations." he pauses for a moment to enter some notes into his datapad, letting the tension build for a moment, just when it looks like Jcor is about to speak Doc starts talking again "We have what we need here, shall we proceed to the storage area?" Docs tone making it very clear the only option he is expecting is a yes.
Jul 25, 2017 9:54 am
57:00

Jcor dry-washes his hands as Doc speaks, looking increasingly nervous. His companion remains stoic except for a sneer at Bo.

When Doc finishes, Jcor nods enthusiastically and gestures to his left. "Yes, yes of course. Right this way officers."

He leads the way through the double doors at the end of the hallway into a room with two computer stations. He waves at them as you pass and says in explanation, "Inventory processing." He continues into the warehouse proper, where there are two large sealed vats, and rows of crates stacked. On the opposite side is a series of large doors, big enough for vehicles to enter. The warehouse is quiet at this time of night, but you can hear the strains of some music from a distant corner.
Jul 25, 2017 10:42 am
Jack merely stands to Jasvan's side, giving the commander a disapproving glare. He adds no further words to the conversation, and simply stares, as if analyzing the commander's every move.
Jul 25, 2017 11:04 am
OOC:
Are there any vehicles in the room or is it empty at the moment?
Jul 26, 2017 10:17 am
OOC:
There are no vehicles in here; there wouldn't be room. However, there are a number of large doors that probably lead into a loading dock. Looking around, you do see three load-lifter droids currently standing inactive.
Jul 26, 2017 9:08 pm
Bo will inspect the crates while making it seem like she is checking some inventory on her data pad. She is trying to determine which ones are the Bacta?
Jul 27, 2017 4:14 am
"Show me where you ship it out," Jack demands, staring holes into Jcor, intending to give Doc and Bo some time alone to do what needs to be done.
Jul 27, 2017 9:43 am
56:00

Bo inspects the crates and finds that they are clearly labelled with their contents. Carefully organized and stacked by type, all of the crates have bacta in them; the only difference is how it is packaged. Some contain bacta patches, some packs, and others seem to be barrels of bacta to be used for tanks.
Jul 27, 2017 9:44 am
56:00

Jcor brightens and smiles, "But of course! Right this way." He leads Jack over to the large doors, explaining that they ship by a variety of methods to the various Imperial installments in the city as well as to orbiting ships.
Jul 27, 2017 3:00 pm
OOC:
Ok, struggling a bit to think how we'll transport any meaningful quantity of bacta of here. If we didn't bring a suitable vehicle can I flip a destiny point for there to be some sort of transport vehicle parked up outside?
Jul 27, 2017 6:29 pm
OOC:
There are just no vehicles inside. There might be something on the outside, which is where Jack is having this guy take him.
We can probably use the loading droids to get it onto the transport.
Jul 28, 2017 10:07 am
OOC:
Yup, that is what I was implying...there is at least one vehicle outside (no room in the warehouse...they load through the doors). For a lightside, you can specify what kind of vehicle is there!
Jul 28, 2017 10:27 am
Doc proceeds to look to be busy doing some sort of check against the various serial numbers on the side of the containers that Bo is pointing out in the storage area.
OOC:
Yeah that sounds good, I'll spend the Lightside point for it to be a Aratech "Shiphand" Cargo Skiff (according to the AoR Core Rule book they are used almost exclusively by the Imperials to move stuff between facilities and ships so it'd make a certain amount of narrative sense)
Jul 28, 2017 6:57 pm
Jack observes the transport bay for a moment, and then turns to the commander, "We have an issue." Frowning in disappointment, he reaches into his pocket and draws out the commander's access card. "I found this, simply lying about, unsecured," Jack says, scowling, "After fifteen seconds of walking around, this is the first thing that I see!" Speaking through gritted teeth, he continues, "And you did not even notice it was missing, commander."

Jack slips the card back into a pocket on his own uniform, "We need to have a.. lengthier discussion about this. Await me in your office. We'll be going over your financial accounts, so get those out. I expect that they are impeccable."

On the other side a stormtrooper stands with a blaster rifle pointed at the open door. Your guide says, "At ease, Terris," and the trooper salutes and goes back to watching the outside docking bay. The docking bay is broad, with room for a small ship or many smaller vehicles. At the far end from where you stand there is an iris centered in a large wall, presumably leading out into the atmosphere of Bespin.

At this time of the evening, the bay is empty save for a single cargo skiff.

Once they reach the office, Jack will look around to make sure that no one else is present. He places his hands on his hips, turns toward Jcor and asks, "How's the sound in here, commander? I wouldn't want your subordinates to hear this discussion."
OOC:
Jack has every intention of shooting Jcor momentarily, and then locking the door with his keycard. Which is funny to me, because I imagine Jcor plans on shooting Jack, too, and Jack does not expect that.

Doc gives a nod to Bo as he approaches "Very good, move the crates I indicated to the loading bay. The staff here will have a cargo skiff ready momentarilly." trying to keep his tone formal in case anyone is listening.
Aug 10, 2017 12:09 am

Jcor sneers as he heads toward his desk, "I have nothing to fear from them."

He stands behind his desk and gestures to the safe, "The card is in there. I'm sure with your clearance you can access it easily."
Aug 10, 2017 10:51 am
"But first," Jack mutters as he removes Jcor's access card from his pocket and steps over toward the doors. He closes them and then turns back around. Taking a few steps toward Jcor, he holds the access card out to him with his left hand. "You need to keep better accountability, commander." He says. Jacks right arm is relaxed, hanging by his side. His fingers are itching to pull his blaster free.
OOC:
Have we seen anyone else near his office? With the doors closed, is it reasonable to think that a few shots on stun could go unnoticed? If it seems somewhat reasonable, and if Jcor approaches, Jack intends on drawing on him as he gets close and reaches for the card.

You absolutely can lock down two sets of doors, but you will have to choose which ones. Right now, there are doors separating you from your companions, so keep that in mind if you want to use the Triumph to lock down all doors. Poisoned bacta has been circulating around the fleet for weeks now. Soldier, good men, have died as a result. Our investigations have found all of the tainted bacta was routed through this warehouse and indications are someone here is a rebel agent and now, coincidentally, your boss is claiming we're dirty?" he says with an incredulous tone "He's playing you all for fools and if you keep dancing to his tune you'll all be pulled up on charges for aiding and abetting a rebel spy. OOC:
Well Doc will be assuming he's calling this in so we're going to be trying to make a break for the transport so could they be that we have an easier path to get to it and, this may need the light side point to get it, that the engines running so we can just jump in and make a break for it?
Sep 25, 2017 8:44 am
OOC:
Done!
Sep 25, 2017 8:47 am
Once they have moved out of sight of the officer and other troops Doc turns to Jack and Bo and hisses "Let's get the kriff out of here!" and starts jogging for the exit where the transport is parked.
Sep 25, 2017 9:01 am
"You got it," Jack says, keeping pace with Doc. He looks around for anyone that might overhear and quickly adds, "J'cor triggered the alarm on his console. He must've been onto us somehow."
Sep 25, 2017 9:04 am
Doc thinks for a moment "Could also have been that he's dirty and was calling in less than legit back-up. Either way we should probably expect company any minute"
Sep 26, 2017 8:36 pm
Bo makes sure she can access the skiff and encourages the droid to keep up.
Sep 27, 2017 9:50 am
Jack will hurry with the others to their hopeful escape.
Sep 29, 2017 12:05 am
The three companions race to the transport, their new droid tottering along behind them. Opening the door to the vehicle, they find a very surprised imperial worker looking over the crates inside.
Sep 29, 2017 1:42 am
Jack stumbles a moment, trying to slow his pace to appear more composed. "Everything in order?" He grunts to the worker.
Sep 29, 2017 9:23 am
The technician nods silently, eyes wide.
Sep 29, 2017 9:26 am
"Excellent" Doc says to the tech "We can take it from here. I believe they need assistance inside with some problem with the doors"
Sep 29, 2017 5:29 pm
OOC:
Does he look like he knows what is inside the crates?
"You ah J'cor's man, yes?" Bo tests him to see what his reaction is, maybe he was on the inside of J'cor's plan or knows too much.
Sep 30, 2017 10:39 pm
The man continues to look frightened as he stammers, "No, I mean yes, I mean all of us work under the commander...but I don't know anything...he just asked me to make sure these crates were loaded...I am a hard worker with a clean record and a young family..." He stops his deluge with a gulp and a nervous look at the three of you.
Oct 3, 2017 6:11 am
Doc puts on his best stern look "Well, we will look into your situation later. For now there is an issue with the doors that need looking at inside, unless you have something better to do that is?"

As Jack begins climbing into the transport, he murmurs to Bo, "Please tell me you can open that."

Bo makes a smug gesture that radiants overconfidence. Some body language and one term phrase that might be common on Rodia for a sarcastic "please".

Oct 13, 2017 7:32 am

I believe the plan was to link up with our ship and transfer the bacta over to it. If I recall, Savi was supposed to have the ship somewhere inconspicuous. If I had to pick, I'd think through the streets.

Oct 15, 2017 12:48 pm
The skiff banks left and zooms around the corner toward the street exit. Stormtroopers leap out of the way and flatten themselves against the walls as you go by. The door to the street stands open and Jack deftly guides the vehicle into a hard right, the rear of the craft fishtailing as he straightens it up to go up the street...right past a security speeder truck, lights blazing, going in the opposite direction. The security craft performs its own tight maneuver to reverse direction - and the chase is on!
Oct 15, 2017 12:53 pm
OOC:
Each turn, Jack will do a piloting check. Doc and Bo can each do another check, of their choice, to help in the escape. Use successes and advantages creatively to provide boosts/setbacks to Jack and the security force, respectively. Each success Jack rolls increases the range band between the two vehicles. The chase ends when you increase it to long, and effectively lose them...or five turns have passed and you reach the Horizon Chaser.

Avox was sitting on the ramp of the ship. He looked up at the sound of a hovercraft approaching. He raised his weapon, ready for the worst. Savi had just told him that the others were fine, but his instincts were hard to deny. He finally let a sigh of relief once he actually laid his eyes on them.

The sordid task Chusk had called him in to do while they were still on this world, at the worst possible time, was weighing on him. After constantly berating the others for slacking off, he was the one to vanish when he was needed. He waved them in as they pulled up to the chaser. He was ready to start hauling crates in as soon as they stopped. He also tried to greet them, but the words choked in his throat. Instead he merely nodded and grunted at them.

Doc runs as quick as he can back onto the ship, stashing the suspect crate as he goes, before taking position to assist wherever he can.
Nov 30, 2017 3:40 am
Bo spins the guns on target and nervously thumbs the trigger but holds her fire. "Got a wock on the transport, waiting fo dah word."

Nov 30, 2017 10:23 am
The engines of the Horizon Chaser roar to life, and as the protocol droid stumbles up the ramp with one last box, Doc races to the cockpit and plunks himself down in the copilot seat. The transport pulls up right beside the one the team stole.
Dec 2, 2017 2:49 pm
Jack, knowing it's only a matter of time before the pieces are put together, wastes no time before throwing the throttle forward and gunning it out of port as fast as possible.
Dec 3, 2017 10:14 am
As Jack starts working on getting us out of here Doc pulls up the news feeds on the local holonet to see what mess they’ve stired up
Dec 4, 2017 4:13 pm
Bo targets any weapons systems the transport might have but holds fire.
Dec 5, 2017 10:56 am
Avox, like Bo, runs one of the turrets and prepares for any unwanted company to emerge in his line of sight. He focuses on the edges, waiting for anything hostile to enter his sights.
Dec 9, 2017 1:34 pm
As Jack pulls back on the controls to lift the Horizon Chaser off the landing pad, Doc pulls up the local alerts, and Avox run to the turret controls. Bo, already at her station in the upper turret sees stormtroopers begin to pour out the transport, but holds her fire.

The ship lifts and banks, and Jack notices that the landing ramp is still down so keys the control to retract it. He and Doc can hear the protocol droid calling something from the cargo hold, but both are focused on their tasks and ignore him for the moment.

As the ship leaps toward the welcoming vastness of the atmosphere, it is rocked by an explosion. For a moment, billowing smoke blocks the view of the docking bay, but then it clears and Bo and Avox are able to see that the remaining pile of crates that they had pilfered from the warehouse have been replaced with a blackened crater, bodies scattered all around.

Jack focuses on keeping the ship steady as it rockets out of the bay, and Doc is riveted by the alerts flashing across his screen:

NOTICE – CRIMINALS HAVE ATTACKED AN IMPERIAL FACILITY. THEY ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD NOT BE APPROACHED. NOTIFY THE AUTHORITIES IMMEDIATELY IF YOU SEE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS.

There are three faces that appear rotating on the screen that are very recognizable: two Human males and a Rhodian female…three fifths of the crew of the Horizon Chaser.
Dec 9, 2017 2:04 pm
Eyes wide, Jack turns away from the images of their own faces, returning his gaze dead ahead.

"Oh.. kriff."
Dec 9, 2017 3:38 pm
"Yeah.....kriff indeed." Doc says before shrugging "We're heading out of system anyway, might be worth trying our luck in another sector entirely and try to keep ahead of this bulletin"
Dec 9, 2017 5:43 pm
"Maybe somewere wif less imperials"
Dec 9, 2017 5:57 pm
Doc nods emphatically "First things first though we've got a job to finish"
Dec 11, 2017 10:29 am
As the Horizon Chaser flies upward through Bespin's atmosphere, two cloud cars bracket the ship and a warning is heard over the comm.

"Freighter Horizon Chaser, you are in violation of planetary and imperial law. Return to the docking bay."
Dec 11, 2017 1:24 pm
Jack keys into the comms, speaking with long and drawn out pauses, "Yeah, um.. sure, what, uh.. what law?" He makes no effort to change course as he looks over his systems.

Dec 12, 2017 5:44 pm
Bo checks the scanners for any enemy craft looking to intercept them.
Dec 12, 2017 11:47 pm
Jack hears a murmured, "Is this guy for real?" before he is once again addressed directly. "Look, you guys are in a lot of trouble. If you land and give yourselves in, our administration might be able to help soften the response. But if you flee, you're free game for the next Imperial ship that catches you."
Dec 12, 2017 11:50 pm
The ship continues to aim for open space, about five minutes from a hyperspace jump distance. The scanners are empty of Imperial ships, and the only others that seem to be bothering with you are your cloudcar escort.
OOC:
The way jumps work, from what I know, you have to be out of the planet's gravitational shadow or you can't even jump (because the gravity would pull you right out again). Plotting a jump requires some calculation...the further the harder, though this is mitigated completely by mapped hyperspace routes/beacons.
Dec 13, 2017 3:23 am
"I ain't gowin' back tah pwison. Get us owt ah here!"
Dec 14, 2017 7:36 am
"We'll take our chances," Jack replies into the comms, throttling the Chaser up to its full speed.

The Chaser roars away and the two cloud cars curve away and back toward Cloud City, wisely choosing not to engage a larger and better-armed craft. Bo calculates the jump to the provided coordinates for the exchange, and the stars stream into lines as the team escapes into hyperspace.

That's when all of you realize you haven't heard anything from the normally loquacious Savi in quite some time.
Dec 17, 2017 12:43 pm
A knot forms in Jack's gut before he voices his concern through the ship's intercom, "Everyone is on board, right?"
Dec 17, 2017 1:19 pm
He hears the protocol droid responding, "That's what I've been trying to tell you, sir! The third bearded human went back out for another box. I tried to tell him it was foolhardy, but he did not listen."
Dec 17, 2017 1:42 pm
Doc closes his eyes momentarily before sighing deeply "Not a lot we can do about that now, hopefully he can talk his way round things and claim he was an innocent bystander. Once we’ve done the handoff we can see if we can get some info about what happened to him. For now I’m going to check to make sure the cargo’s Ok". Doc then unbuckles himself from the co-pilots chair and heads into the cargo hold.
OOC:
Wanting to check exactly how much we ended up with and also checking the suspect crate I dragged over to see if we can get a better idea what the supervisors game really was

Jack is still for some time as the words sink in, even after Doc leaves the cockpit. Once alone, with a sudden movement, he slams he fist onto the console, once, twice, three times.

Rather than quibbling over details, I'm going to give you a flat fee for what you managed to retrieve of the bacta. You can then negotiate that up if you so desire. As for the mystery crate, that will be a hard check. You can choose what to roll; Knowledge (Education), Mechanics, Perception, Medicine, Knowledge (Warfare)...they will each give different info so choose what you're good at and what makes sense.

As Doc moves into the cargo hold he tries to slow his breathing. We’re lucky any of us made it off planet, Savi should have known better he thinks to himself but the feeling is empty with a nagging feeling that they should go back for Savi. Shaking his head Doc pulls out his datapad and starts it recording "At first glance subject appears to be of standard imperial construction but closer examination shows a number of irregularities...." he begins dictating as he starts his ‘diagnosis’ of the crate.
OOC:
Thats fine, more wanted to be sure we’d lifted enough to fulfil our contract. Doc tried Knowledge (Education) previously so I’m going with Medicine for this attempt

Bo sits in the gun turret a while, leaning back and thinking over the last few hours. She appreciates the privacy of the small gun station for a bit. How the hell did we manage to leave someone behind? That's why I work alone. I hope Savi got away from those guards somehow.

She comes wandering in a while later to look over the crates knowing what ever is in them isn't worth losing a crew member.
Dec 19, 2017 10:29 am
As Doc looks over the crate, it's clear that this is not medicine. The box is highly pressurized, and designed to deliver the contents in very small bursts into minute containers.
Dec 20, 2017 10:49 am
Jack remains in the cockpit, suddenly less concerned about their haul. Unable to shake the loss of another companion from his mind, he focuses instead of plotting a course to their destination.
Dec 23, 2017 10:06 pm
Bo, now curious about the strange box, comes over to check it out.
OOC:
Any way to use Skullduggery or Mech to open it with destroying or spraying the contents?
Dec 24, 2017 1:23 am
OOC:
No...the contents are under extreme pressure. You could use mechanics to try and learn more...same difficulty, but add a boost for what Doc already knows.
Jan 11, 2018 10:31 am
Doc and Bo work on the box for a while, but it remains stubbornly mysterious about its contents.

After spending several hours pondering the problem, Bo returns and rigs together a scanner that reveals...the box is filled with Tibanna gas, but a rare kind. It reads as exceptionally pure...and is probably worth a lot of credits.

Not a problem, was just wrapping this thread up, but your way ends up better. Will now lock the thread and write up the intro to the next thread. And post a little segue for while you're waiting.
