Part 2: The Bacta Run

As the Horizon Chaser flies upward through Bespin's atmosphere, two cloud cars bracket the ship and a warning is heard over the comm.

"Freighter Horizon Chaser, you are in violation of planetary and imperial law. Return to the docking bay."
Dec 11, 2017 1:24 pm
Jack keys into the comms, speaking with long and drawn out pauses, "Yeah, um.. sure, what, uh.. what law?" He makes no effort to change course as he looks over his systems.

Bo checks the scanners for any enemy craft looking to intercept them.
Dec 12, 2017 11:47 pm
Jack hears a murmured, "Is this guy for real?" before he is once again addressed directly. "Look, you guys are in a lot of trouble. If you land and give yourselves in, our administration might be able to help soften the response. But if you flee, you're free game for the next Imperial ship that catches you."
Dec 12, 2017 11:50 pm
The ship continues to aim for open space, about five minutes from a hyperspace jump distance. The scanners are empty of Imperial ships, and the only others that seem to be bothering with you are your cloudcar escort.
OOC:
The way jumps work, from what I know, you have to be out of the planet's gravitational shadow or you can't even jump (because the gravity would pull you right out again). Plotting a jump requires some calculation...the further the harder, though this is mitigated completely by mapped hyperspace routes/beacons.

"I ain't gowin' back tah pwison. Get us owt ah here!"
Dec 14, 2017 7:36 am
"We'll take our chances," Jack replies into the comms, throttling the Chaser up to its full speed.

The Chaser roars away and the two cloud cars curve away and back toward Cloud City, wisely choosing not to engage a larger and better-armed craft. Bo calculates the jump to the provided coordinates for the exchange, and the stars stream into lines as the team escapes into hyperspace.

That's when all of you realize you haven't heard anything from the normally loquacious Savi in quite some time.
Dec 17, 2017 12:43 pm
A knot forms in Jack's gut before he voices his concern through the ship's intercom, "Everyone is on board, right?"
Dec 17, 2017 1:19 pm
He hears the protocol droid responding, "That's what I've been trying to tell you, sir! The third bearded human went back out for another box. I tried to tell him it was foolhardy, but he did not listen."

Doc closes his eyes momentarily before sighing deeply "Not a lot we can do about that now, hopefully he can talk his way round things and claim he was an innocent bystander. Once we’ve done the handoff we can see if we can get some info about what happened to him. For now I’m going to check to make sure the cargo’s Ok". Doc then unbuckles himself from the co-pilots chair and heads into the cargo hold.
OOC:
Wanting to check exactly how much we ended up with and also checking the suspect crate I dragged over to see if we can get a better idea what the supervisors game really was

Jack is still for some time as the words sink in, even after Doc leaves the cockpit. Once alone, with a sudden movement, he slams he fist onto the console, once, twice, three times.

OOC:
Rather than quibbling over details, I'm going to give you a flat fee for what you managed to retrieve of the bacta. You can then negotiate that up if you so desire. As for the mystery crate, that will be a hard check. You can choose what to roll; Knowledge (Education), Mechanics, Perception, Medicine, Knowledge (Warfare)...they will each give different info so choose what you're good at and what makes sense.

As Doc moves into the cargo hold he tries to slow his breathing. We’re lucky any of us made it off planet, Savi should have known better he thinks to himself but the feeling is empty with a nagging feeling that they should go back for Savi. Shaking his head Doc pulls out his datapad and starts it recording "At first glance subject appears to be of standard imperial construction but closer examination shows a number of irregularities...." he begins dictating as he starts his ‘diagnosis’ of the crate.
OOC:
Thats fine, more wanted to be sure we’d lifted enough to fulfil our contract. Doc tried Knowledge (Education) previously so I’m going with Medicine for this attempt

Bo sits in the gun turret a while, leaning back and thinking over the last few hours. She appreciates the privacy of the small gun station for a bit. How the hell did we manage to leave someone behind? That's why I work alone. I hope Savi got away from those guards somehow.

She comes wandering in a while later to look over the crates knowing what ever is in them isn't worth losing a crew member.
Dec 19, 2017 10:29 am
As Doc looks over the crate, it's clear that this is not medicine. The box is highly pressurized, and designed to deliver the contents in very small bursts into minute containers.
Dec 20, 2017 10:49 am
Jack remains in the cockpit, suddenly less concerned about their haul. Unable to shake the loss of another companion from his mind, he focuses instead of plotting a course to their destination.
Dec 23, 2017 10:06 pm
Bo, now curious about the strange box, comes over to check it out.
OOC:
Any way to use Skullduggery or Mech to open it with destroying or spraying the contents?
Dec 24, 2017 1:23 am
OOC:
No...the contents are under extreme pressure. You could use mechanics to try and learn more...same difficulty, but add a boost for what Doc already knows.
Jan 11, 2018 10:31 am
Doc and Bo work on the box for a while, but it remains stubbornly mysterious about its contents.
