Episode 1: Chasin' the Wind

Puck mutes her comm thumbs up or down on the samantha job guys?

"I'll go with the group decision Strength in numbers."

"Hold up."

Digit's voice sounds unusually serious for her typical manner. It's only a few moments before she comes back over the comms:

"Okay, hear this: Girl named Samantha Carroll that matches that 'script disappeared in the '50s. People thinkin' she got grabbed up by some Corp suits. As weird as that is, the girl I'm hearin' about now looks to be a homeless, mid-20s female, sprung up in the CZ about a week ago."

There's a pause before Digit continues:

"Look, I'm reading all this drek about how she's seen walking around in scrubs and some Janus Industries street armor that doesn't fit her. She's in the Maker Collective, alright, but is this some kind of escaped test subject? I change my mind; I'm not alright going into this blind. If... if anything, we.. we should help her."

"R-right? I mean, that's.. what we need to do, right?"

"And.. and.. what's with this connection between Janus Industries and Aztechnology now? Can't be a coincidence that we're getting paid to grab some data and then some other girl we're to find is wearing a jacket with the same logo. Two presumably unrelated jobs come up on the same night and have a connection like this?"

Digit sounds undeniably worried, more so than one might expect for the given situation. She's never good at hiding her emotions, and something is certainly troubling her.

Still on mute, Puck says

right. so are you voting we take both jobs and solve a mystery? Remember that dead 'runners can't spend nuyen

"N-no.. I'm not saying that, but we shouldn't turn this girl back to them. I'm not going to. Maybe we can do the other thing, but after that I'm going to look for her.."

Digit... you're letting emotions get in the way again... it's just biz. If we take a job and don't deliver it will tarnish our good name, nobody will hire runners whop have gone soft, and you'll starve to death. is that what you want?

"I'm not saying we take the job and don't deliver. I'm saying thumbs down to the job in the first place. I'm.. I'm not helping with this Samantha one. I'm not. Let's just go get that dragon's paydata instead."

For those that have worked with her in the past, Digit, while typically not one to advocate killing others, has killed without complaint. In the past, she's been okay doing a lot of questionable jobs, to the point that this one probably shouldn't seem like as much of a big deal as she's making it out to be.

Puck sighs

ok team, the johnson's bound to get antsy I've had him on hold for so long. we got one vote against Azzie job and one vote for dragon job. everyone else?

Digit jacks out of the Matrix, coming to in the backseat of Ghost's van. She sits up straight before settling low into the seat once more.

With a quick, curious glance at her friend, Ghost nods, "I agree. Pass."

Digit exchanges a meaningful glance with Ghost, her lips frowning slightly and her large eyes worried.

Buster. your vote?

Buster sighs heavily and lifts up his mirrorshades.

"I don't know about you guys but I could really use the nuyen. I say we do both."

so buster and I agree on the first job, digit and ghost both vote no, and halaron doesn't care. I'm making an executive decision since the johnson's been on hold too long

Puck switches mute off

Hello? yes! Hi, sorry about the hold, we had some small signal interference but it seems to be gone now. We would love to take the job!

Digit scowls at Puck, "You should hire another Decker for it, then. The Collective isn't really friendly with unprotected wireless gear."

Ghost sends a message just to Digit.

Digit's eyes flick over to the ARO that came up over her own field of vision, and though there is no outward motion, she returns a message with but a thought.

Ghost replies.
