"The rocks will set off the trapdoor with the rats, and I think the wrong doors will trigger the holes in the ceiling to shoot out air. The real question is what door should we open?"

Vadania heads over to the doors to look for any clues or differences between them.

"Something bad could come out of the doors; so should we open the trapdoor from a distance," Halvo says, taking out and holding up a 10' string, "purposefully triggering it's arrow, which could hit the rats? We could then finish off the rats before trying to open a door - that way we wouldn't be fighting on two fronts."

OOC:
Gonna transition to colored dialog because I like it better, plus Jack is already doing it. Useful website if you want NPC's to have special colors as well, Snowycoldfood!
Vandania weighs the options for a bit before speaking again.

"Okay, lets use string to set off the rocks and then kill the rats. Let me set my bear trap first, and then we can try to trigger the arrow trap once more."

She pulls out an piece of iron that resembles a bunch of metal teeth and pries it open with her bare hands. Once it's wide enough, the mechanism snaps into place and a pressure sensitive between the teeth disk pops up. The elf uses her foot to sweep the remaining skulls away, and knees in order to carefully places the trap on the ground directly in front of the rat-door. She then restacks the skulls in order to form a wall around the door, ensuring that the only opening leads directly into the mouth of a trap.

"Nothing stops a man quite like iron teeth in his leg, so this should work on rats as well."

Halvo nods at Vadania, "Sounds good."

He makes a loop with the string, places it over some of the rocks, and carefully tightens the loop. Holding the other end of the string, he heads back to the corridor they came from.
OOC:
Edit 1 correction: the thieves tools roll should've been +8, not +10, so ( 15 ) + 8 = 23.
Edit 2 correction: hold other end, heads back to corridor but doesn't actually get there because string doesn't reach.

As great of a plan as this is Halvo realizes something as he is walking toward the corridor. The string is too short to reach. The door is roughly 30ft away.
OOC:
Room is 110x90The door is 25ft away

Halvo, seeing the string come up short, takes out a 50' hempen rope from his backpack. He ties the slack string to one end, and taking the other end walks back into the
corridor they came from, waiting for
the rest of the party.
Mar 28, 2017 7:49 am
Vadania ushers the rest of the party a safe distance away, behind Halvo. She pulls out her shortbow and aims a shot at the rat-door.
Mar 28, 2017 7:57 am
Halvo takes out a dagger. When he sees that everyone is far enough back in the corridor, he pulls the rope.
Mar 29, 2017 5:51 am
As you pull the rope the pillar of carefully stacked rocks comes tumbling down. Dust rises from the impacct on the floor. The sound of metal striking the floor can be heard through it. As the dust clears you see that large metal spikes have dropped from the ceiling. They drip with a strange liquid that seems to be eating away at the dirt floor.

"...Not what I was expecting to happen at all."
Mar 29, 2017 8:26 am
OOC:
Is the door with the rats on the other side a trapdoor in the floor, or a normal vertical door?
Mar 30, 2017 6:55 am
OOC:
Normal vertical door. It was just hidden by the tall stack of skeleton heads
Mar 30, 2017 7:15 am
Halvo winces at the acid looking liquid dripping from the spikes, rubbing an old burn mark on his right hand. "Shall I tie the string and rope to the rat door's trip wire, and trigger it also from here in the corridor?"
OOC:
Should I change my speech color from brown to something else? I always use brown, but GP's brown is kinda close to it's system red. Maybe SaddleBrown?

OOC:
Whatever floats your boat.
"If it has a trip wire. Maybe we should tie a rope to one of the door handles instead?"

Vadania tries to discern if the room is safe to walk through, since a bunch of spikes and acid fell everywhere.
Mar 30, 2017 7:52 am
OOC:
The spike are spaced out about every 15ft. So there would be 10ft of walk able room between spikes.
Mar 30, 2017 7:56 am
"I'd prefer setting off the trip wire on its own, in case it triggers something we haven't seen yet. After that, we could open the rats' door, or check the other 3 doors for traps."
Mar 30, 2017 8:12 am
"Alright, lets do it. I'll set up my rope to open the iron door so we can pull it when we are ready."

She steps between the pools of acid and makes her way towards the iron door. She ties one end of her rope around the handle, and leads it about halfway down the room. She stands near the bookcase with her bow drawn at the rat-door.
Apr 3, 2017 7:33 pm
OOC:
so are we opening the door right now or searching the other doors first?
Apr 4, 2017 12:35 am
Halvo positions his string and rope to set off the rat door's trap wire, and holding the rope walks back to the northern wall.

Taking out a dagger again, he says "Here goes the trip wire!" and pulls the rope.

Here's a rough map which snowy said is generally correct, except for the positions of the doors being a bit off:
