Seeing as how the talkers are busy talking between themselves, Ulfren takes another step forward. "We come from the King Under the Mountain, Dwarven Lords of Earth and Stone, honoring the call to arms from Lord Rain-Hell and reforging the bonds of friendship between our clans!" he announces.

Phineas is still flipping through the Illustrated Guide to Adventuring on Human greeting customs and misses his opportunity. He looks up hearing Ulfren speak, and decides it was all for the best. He turns to the party and whispers just loud enough for the rest of them to hear: "A fine prolegomenon! Ulfren is looking more like Captain Clawhammer every day."

He carefully places the velvet ribbon bookmark between the pages of the entry on Humans, for quick reference or to make notes in the margins on the fly.

"Well met dwarves, I am afraid the enemy was vanquished and we are now assessing the situation. From what I have gathered, the lord here destroyed the army by himself while we all slept. I am Krig, new head of the soon to be reorganized army. Theirs here is the lord and his children.". The man talking is damp and has a little blue hue to his lips.

"Well met indeed my friends. I welcome you with open arms, welcome to my lands. Are any of you injured or in need of food?" The lord asks.

OOC:
I'll continue to read the thread, but Baern won't be talking for a while to come, at least that would be my guess. Just a heads up. I'm not dormant, just playing true to character by not talking xD

Ryyrik's ears perk up "I'd be right happy to eat some food, especially if it's accompanied by some ale." he lets out a hearty laugh.
Jun 22, 2017 12:42 pm
"Ale! Now we're talking!" Gunnar laughs, then catches himself. "We are grateful for your hospitality. But we were sent here to aid you, and though the enemy may have been repelled, from what we've seen your people outside seem to be in bad shape. Perhaps we may be of some assistance before we take refreshment."

Being a dwarf of few words Gunnar seems exhausted by this (to him) long-winded speech. He coughs, and longs for the aforementioned ale.
Jun 22, 2017 12:57 pm
Hearing Gunner's speech, Ryyrik stops laughing, clears his throat, and stands as tall as he can. "Aye, we came to aid and aid we will." he sinks down a little, holds his pointer finger and thumb inches apart from one another, and grins "But that don't mean we can't have a wee bit a pint while we work. A dwarf with some drink, is a dwarf that can think." He resumes laughing, completely giddy at the thought of ale from a different land.

Ulfren waits until some of the mirth has subsided. "You got rid of the orcs by yerself?" he asks of the lord, squinting his eyes. "We seen some orcs on our way here, frozen like they got caught in the ice. Plus a goblin and a giant still wandering about. What happened?"
Jun 23, 2017 10:42 pm
"We have ale, it's been aged for almost 500 years, well, sort of. Let's have a feast in three hours time. We shall have food and ale and discuss the problems we face and the reasons behind what you have come to find here. Would you like a few rooms to clean up and refresh yourselves?" lord Reinhill claps and a few servants come out of the side rooms with pitchers. "They can show you to your rooms if you like."
Jun 23, 2017 11:24 pm
Ulfren pauses. He appears ready to speak his mind, but keeps quiet. Instead, he looks to one of the servants that approach and says, "Fine. Where's your cemetery?"

Rooms and feasts and aged ale, mutters Billy as he looks around. There seems to be an awful lot of sufferin' goin' on all around us for talk of such luxuries. The lot of you can carry on as if folk don't need help, but I'll be doin' what I can ta ease the sufferin' I see around me. Billy does very little to hide the contempt in his tone as he turns without leave and stomps off to offer whatever aid he can.
Jun 24, 2017 12:54 am
"You plant your lips on my backside, Billy!" barks Ulfren in a sharp order. Then in a calmer tone, "You got something I need. Wait for me."

I'll plant my lips where I damn well please, Ulfren Blackthaw. You want somethin' from me, you keep pace. I got work ta do. Billy doesn't slacken his pace as he heads to do what he can to help the people in their recovery.

"I'll let you take leave then. Do not worry, I won't trap you in my ice again. I have just met my children again for the first time in over 1000 years, So pardon me for wanting to celebrate their return and offering hospitality is what we do here. You can take word back to your people if they still live and thank them for aid, late as it might have been." The lord replies as he gathers his children up in his arms and turns to leave.
Jun 24, 2017 1:08 am
A female servant points back to a door and says, "The cemetery will be back there."
Jun 24, 2017 2:12 am
Ryyrik calls out cheerfully to the lord "I, for one, am looking forward to take part in your hospitality; don't see why everyone is so adamant of keeping the gloomy feeling going after being cased in ice for some 1,000 years. I'm thankful, I gets to use my legs again, gets to swing my hammer, get to return to my clan, and get to drink ale again." His cheerful gaze fades and turns more stoic as a thought catches up with him Ah...cemetery. He smiles back at the lord, though less cheerful this time around "Enjoy your kids company. Then get this ale ready, I've been sober for 1,000 and plan to make up for lost time." He turns and makes his way to where the female servant pointed.

"Wait," says Ulfren, turning back to the lord. "Your ice? You the one killed Dirk?"
Jun 24, 2017 7:22 am
Gunnar registers the all-too-familiar change in Ulfren's tone. There cold be trouble here now. He stays outwardly relaxed (as relaxed as a soldier can be) but surreptitiously measures the reaction of everyone in the room to Ulfren's tone.

Gunnar senses no hostility and no concern from any of them.

"Handmaiden please take the children to clean up."
They leave the room and the lord turns to the party,
"Yes, my ice. I have held my powerful magic back for most of my life as it is intoxicating and would certainly take me into it. When the army came to the gates, we exchanged words and they brought forth pikes with guards and my wife impaled upon them. I guess my restraint collapsed and magic surged from me. It changed everything into a barren land of ice. The only things not frozen were turned to my slaves to search for my children. Only orc blood should have died in the blast, so I am unsure as what happened to this Dirk you speak of."

Ryyrik plants a hand on Ulfren's shoulder and with a low voice
[ +- ] Dwarf
he claps Ulfren on the shoulder and gives him a nod.
