As a n00b to this form of Media, I'm going look to all of you for advice, tips and tricks to Rping on forums. If someone would give me a run down of formatting, Bold for speech, Italics for Inner thoughts. How do I post dice rolls? I wish my profile pic would show. I haven't even explored creating a character in GP. So much to learn, I hope to get plenty of help.
You got the formatting conventions spot on, though I'll also want to note the existence of the Ooc environment for talking out of character. There is a dice roller built into the writing environment (you will need to be in advanced mode to get the rolling interface up). Character creation is pretty straight forward, there's just a firm where you put all the stuff in, then submit it to me via the page you signed up for this game on.

Now, I do have some experience with D&D, besides the countless Roll20 games that have come and gone (they never seem to last long.) I have spent many a years role playing with the same group of people. In an experience not unlike Jabes. I started out in 2nd Edition AD&D, thoroughly enjoyed 3.X, kept 4e away with a 10' pole, played pathfinder in the meantime, and as soon as my Pathfinder campaign ended, hopped right into 5e. My three kids play with me sometime, my oldest, now a Senior in High school has started his own group of D&D Tavern Brawlers, and my youngest boy is gonna start DMing a game for me soon. Can't wait. While I wait though, I'm happy to be here.
I think it's the nature of online play, it can ba a little hit and miss. There are a lot more things it seems that can kill a PbP game, and because of the stretched out progression compared to real life play or something like roll twenty sometimes it feels like the game dies before it gets going. I've been experimenting with ways to keep games going but other then the monstrosity that is my Darksouls game nothing has been particularly stable. It just comes down to luck and how solid the players and GM is.

Also you mentioned DMB forum, you listen to the podcast as well? It really cool to see other Blockheads out there. Just browsing the games alone I seen two. You and DM Mainprize was hosting a game. Really Cool.
There seems to be a pretty good overlap between people on this site and people who listen to DnD podcasts. It certainly seems to be that every time they are raised most people in the thread says the listen to that to and then blurts out the long list of gaming podcasts they listen to.
